interested in joining the Catholic Church. The RCIA program is also the formal program for adult Catholics to prepare for Confirmation if they have not completed this sacrament. Classes begin in September and Deacon Paul
meets with those seeking information during the summer.
Please call the office if you would like further information.
Pray for our twin parish of St. Isidore, La Gonave, Haiti, that they

LIVING OUR MISSION CAMPAIGN to date: 191 families
have pledged $562,952. We are approximately halfway to
our goal. We thank and appreciate everyone who has
pledged so far. The first phase of the campaign ended
June 30. We will continue to accept pledges. If you have
any questions, please contact Fr. Silvio, Fr. Joe, or a
member of the team, Bev McGowan, Susan McDonald,
Melanie Luhn, Jon Ischinger, Evans Darko, & Miguel
Baltazar.
THANKS TO ALL our parishioners and friends who continue to help make feeding the hungry in our area possible.
We continue to need LOTS of CLEAN plastic grocery
bags. We can’t use paper bags because the glue attracts
vermin.
We also need STYROFOAM egg cartons to repackage the
flats of eggs we get. (We can’t use the cardboard ones).
Donations of food and money are also very much appreciated.

We cannot take home canned food, but if you have a garden and have fresh produce to donate, we can take that.
Any perishable items should be brought to the Food Pantry
during operating hours. (Tue-Fri, 9 am to 2:30 pm). Nonperishable items can be put in the grocery carts in the
commons.
Spiritual Book Club: On July 11 at 7:00 pm, The Spiritual Book Club will meet to discuss Apologia Pro Vita Sua.
This was Cardinal John Henry Newman's defense of his
religious opinions published in response to an unwarranted attack on himself, the Catholic priesthood and Roman
Catholic doctrine. Written in 1864, it was a best seller and
established Newman as one of the foremost exponents of
Catholicism in England.
June statistics coming soon!
You’re Invited! Our former DRE, Louisa Cahan, will be
celebrating her 70th birthday in August. All her Blessed
Sacrament family is invited to Pen Park Shelter #3, Pen
Park Road, Charlottesville, on Sunday, August 7 from 1 to
6 pm. Help make Louisa's 70th birthday the most memorable day ever! Come to shower her with your good wishes, share her laughter, and enjoy some refreshments any
time between 1 and 6 pm. Families are welcome. We'd
like to create a memorable scrapbook, so we'd love for
you to bring a page with a favorite memory of Louisa, a
poem, blessing, or whatever you'd like. We'll also have
blank pages for you to complete if you'd prefer. Gifts are
not necessary - your presence is gift enough!

MASS INTENTIONS: It has been a practice in the Church
to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for certain intentions. The person requesting the mass may make a voluntary offering but it is not necessary. The usual and customary offering currently in the Diocese of Richmond is
$10 but one can offer more or less. Only one person can
offer any particular mass, but they may offer it for more
than one deceased loved one. Masses may also be offered for special intentions such as in honor of someone’s
birthday or anniversary, for the recovery of a sick person,
etc. Cards are available to send to family members letting
them know a mass is being offered. One mass on Saturday/Sunday MUST be offered by the priest for the people
of the people. This is the “Misa Pro Populo” or the Parish
Mass. Please call the office or come by during office
hours if you have mass intentions you would like to schedule.
