Who's your favorite saint? What can I find out about guardian
angels? How can the saints and angels help protect me and
make me a better person? With the Feast of the Holy Guardian
Angels on October 2 and All Saints Day November 1, the New
Evangelization Ministry will be featuring books, CDs, and
DVDs on angels and saints. Stop by OUR FREE, LENDING
LIBRARY TABLE before and after all the Masses the
weekend of October 10-11.
Members of the New Evangelization Ministry are sharing
their favorite angels and saints resources with the members of
our St. Pius X community. Materials can be checked out for a
month. If you found something from last's month’s table,
please plan to return it the weekend of October 11th OR ask to
renew it for another month. There is also a white cardboard
box in the back of church in which library materials can be
returned.
There is Life in the Womb
Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen was one of the best-loved and most
influential preachers of the 20th century and author of over 90
books. He reached nearly 30 million people through his weekly
program, Life is
Worth Living, and his
Cause for
Canonization was
officially opened in
2002. He explains the
Church's teaching on
life from a
philosophical and
historical perspective.
CD’s are available in
the Gathering Space
for $3.00 each.
Saint John Paul the Great: His Five Loves
In honor of the feast day of St. Pope John Paul II on October 22, the New Evangelization Ministry is
offering the book, “Saint John Paul the Great: His Five Loves” by Jason Evert for a suggested
donation of just $5.00 on the weekend of October 10-11 after Masses.
From Amazon (4.9/5.0 stars, 136 reviews):
“Discover the five great loves of St. John Paul II through remarkable unpublished stories on him from
bishops, priests, students, Swiss Guards, and others. Mining through a mountain of papal resources,
Jason Evert has uncovered these many gems, offering a treasure chest brimming with the jewels of the
saint’s life. After a brief overview of John Paul’s life, Evert explores in depth his five great loves:
Young People, Human Love, The Eucharist, Our Lady, The Cross. This work is intended to be
catechetical, inspiring, and evangelical.”

Thank you for your continued support of our ministries to the people of God.
Stewardship of Treasure Appeal
This weekend, you heard John Walsh or Dave Poirier give witness to what the St. Pius X
Catholic Community means to his family and why he feels strongly about contributing financial
support to our parish family. We encourage all parishioners to spend time in prayer and
discussion reflecting on what the St. Pius X Catholic Community means to your own family as
well as how you demonstrate your support of our parish family by giving of your time, talent
and treasure.
Next week you will receive a brochure detailing the Stewardship of Treasure Appeal that our
parish will be participating in over the next few weeks. This informative brochure is intended to
communicate the financial needs of our parish and why we are having a dedicated focus on our parish Offertory.
Commitment Weekend is October 17 and 18.
If you have any questions regarding the Stewardship of Treasure Appeal, please feel free to contact the Parish Office
via e-mail at [email protected] or by calling 630-627-4526. Members of the Stewardship Council will
be available in the Gathering Space after all Masses to answer your questions.
Pumpkin Patch Sunday
On the weekend of October 18, there will be a pumpkin patch on the front lawn of
Pius. After Masses, families are encouraged to go, pick out, and purchase pumpkins
to support the St. Pius X Youth Ministry. Leftover pumpkins will be sold outside the
doors on the weekend of October 25. Large pumpkins will be $9, medium ones for
$7, and small ones for $5. Proceeds will go towards covering the cost of mission
trips, spiritual retreats, and conferences for students in the youth group. Thank you
for your support!

SÓLO UN AMOR CRISTIANO HACE POSIBLE UN
MATRIMONIO CRISTIANO

DEANERY AND DIOCESAN NEWS
Let’s Become Friends
FRIENDS OF THE RESURRECTION GET-TOGETHER
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2015, 9:00 -11:00 AM
ST. MARK CATHOLIC CHURCH, WHEATON, IL
If you are looking for more hope in your life and are impressed by the Resurrectionists who have
been ministering in your parish, then come to the next Friends of the Resurrection Get-Together on
Saturday, October 17 from 9:15 -11 am at St. Mark's Church in Wheaton.
Friends of the Resurrection is an informal group of parishioners from parishes staffed by the
Congregation of the Resurrection in the Joliet Diocese.
In the context of exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, we ask Our Lord to bless the ministry of Resurrectionists
throughout the world. We pray for the conversion of sinners and bring the needs of our families before the Lord.
Our speaker for this next session is the dynamic Rev. Dennis Sanders, C.R., a retreat master for many years and chaplain
to the Sisters of Divine Providence. Father Dennis' talk is entitled the “Easter Resurrectionists.”
After the talk and Bendiction, please join us at the parish for a light lunch. Father Andrew Lewandowski, C.R. and his
parishioners are our hosts.
There is no cost for this event and there is nothing to commit to -–yet. Our hope is that eventually we will form an
association of Friends of the Resurrection in the Joliet Diocese. Like the Oblates of St. Benedict or the lay Franciscans,
the “Friends” are part of the Congregation of the Resurrection.
Everyone is welcome including children and young adults. No reservations necessary. Please come!

We Stand Together in Support of Our Church!
In today’s world, the need for priests and other religious is
more apparent than ever. In an effort to help promote
vocations and provide financial support to those pursuing
religious vocations, our Illinois State Council is sponsoring a
statewide “VOCATION RAFFLE.” Every dollar that the State
Council collects from this raffle is used to support our
seminarians in some way. Monetary birthday, Christmas and
ordination gifts are sent to them with the appropriate greeting
card signed “Illinois State Council Knights of Columbus.”
Also, donations on your behalf are made to seminaries that our
seminarians attend. Money that the Council collects is used to
support our diocesan seminarians as well as to help fund our
many programs. Last year we supported 3 Seminarians at $500
each. Through November, Father Boecker Council #6090 will
be selling Vocation Raffle tickets to support our Seminarians
and help them financially on their road to priesthood. Please
help us by purchasing a ticket for $1.00 or a
book for $15.00. 1st place prize is $10,000.
Remember to pray for Vocations. Questions can
be directed to Chairman D. Thurman or
Grand Knight Dennis Jensen.
