Word University will give a meditation and concert here at St.

State Park for the Saturday after Easter - April 26 - to gather for
fun, food and a little prayer! Those planning the outing have
asked that you sign up if you plan to attend, to give an idea of
how much to prepare. Signup sheets are available at the church
entrances. There is no cost. Bring the whole family!
Please remember in prayer Stanley and Zadie Goins, who
died tragically last weekend. Please remember also Mr. Gregory Borowitz, who died last Monday. Arrangements are in

Second Sunday of Lent
This weekend, please welcome Fr. Dick Bayuk, who celebrates all the masses for our Catholic Community. Fr. Dick
represents “Unbound”, formerly known as the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging - CFCA - a Catholic sponsorship ministry that helps children and elderly in 21 developing
countries. . He will offer opportunities to sponsor children in
third-world countries. To learn more, call (800) 875-6564 or
visit Unbound online at www.unbound.org. There’s an easy
link on our parish website.
Next weekend, our guest celebrant will be Fr. Doug Fater, a
retired priest of the Archdiocese. Fr. Doug was the founding
pastor of Holy Trinity Parish in San Antonio, and pastored
that community for many years until his recent retirement. I
plan to return to Gonzales late next Sunday evening, March
23. . Father Dennis Darilek, pastor of St. James in Seguin,
has promised his availability for emergencies that should arise
before my return. Anyone needing to contact me during my
trip may call my cell, 210-854-9768. - Fr. Paul.
Eucharistic Adoration this week will be at Sacred Heart,
Friday 6:30 am - 10 pm. Thanks to all who have committed
to an hour of prayer during the Fridays of Lent, making it possible for us to provide this opportunity for all. Communion
Services will be held this week in place of our daily masses.
We invite all to come each day of Lent, to be fed for your
Lenten journey by God’s Word and the Holy eucharist!
Lent is meant to be a time of healing - healing of our relationship with God, with one another, and physical healing
as well! There are two great sacraments of healing in our
Church - Anointing of the Sick and Penance. We will have a
Mass of Anointing of the Sick, Sunday March 30, 2 pm at
Sacred Heart, and our Parish Penance Service on Thursday,
March 27, 6:30 pm at St. James. This Penance Service will
provide an opportunity for many of us to gather, reflect on our
sin and the damage it causes to us and to others, and receive
the words of forgiveness. Several priests, besides Fr. Paul,
have already committed to be present with us that evening.
Ecumenical Lenten Services: Each Wednesday of Lent at
noon, our Gonzales Ministerial Alliance hosts a lenten service
at First Baptist Church, with simple meal to follow at First
Methodist, next door. This Wednesday’s service will be
hosted by Rev. Andy Smith and First Methodist Church. All
are invited!
Sometimes things break down - The past month, we’ve had
to replace the entire heater/AC system for the Sacred Heart
Church Eucharistic Chapel, and a compressor in one of the
four units at St. James Church. Final bills are not yet in, but
estimates are about $5,300.00 for Sacred Heart and $4,800 for
St. James. The repairs were necessary, and payment will be
made from our general operating funds.
St. Mary’s University DACA Project - “Deferred Action for
Childhood Arrivals” - St. Mary’s in San Antonio offers free
legal assistance to young people seeking permission to stay
and work here legally. Contact St. Mary’s at 210-431-5730,
or e-mail [email protected].

Maria “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals” - La Universidad
Hable a
210-431-5730, o envíe un correo a [email protected].
