“Behold,

TRUE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY
Can you imagine a world such as the one put before
us in today’s scripture readings? Communities of believers everywhere would support and encourage one another
and be identified as Christians by the way they love each
other. It would be a world with no tears, no death and
mourning, no crying out in pain. “Behold, I make all
things new,” we hear the Son of God say in the second
reading from the book of Revelation (21:5).
Is this world of John’s vision only imaginary? Are
these faithful followers for whom Jesus prayed only a
savior’s dream? Today they are put before us as a worthy
goal. How much closer can we come to this vision of a
true Christian community in our lives today?

Fifth Sunday of Easter
Congratulations and welcome to all our children who enter
our Church this weekend through the Sacrament of Baptism,
and all who receive the Holy Eucharist for the first time today! Children, we pray that you be fed often at the Lord’s
Table. We will have other Masses for First Eucharist May 1,
2 pm at St. James, and May 8, 2 pm at Sacred Heart.
Change in Mass Time: Begnning next Sunday, May 1, we
will change the 11:15 mass at St. Pat’s back to 11:30. At the
last Pastoral Council Meeting in Waelder, it was agreed that
the 11:30 time works better for most. Good try - nothing
ventured, nothing gained!
Mothers’ Day Intentions: We place the boxes and papers at
the entrance of each church this weekend, to receive your
intentions for Mothers’ Day. As is our custom, we offer all
the masses of the weekend of May 7-8 for those mothers,
living and deceased, whom you wish to remember. The
boxes will remain in place through next weekend.
May 15 Outdoor Mass Planning Meeting: A meeting to
plan our Mass liturgy will be held tomorrow evening
(Monday), 7 pm in the St. John Paul Room. We will need
representatives from each choir, our ministry coordinators,
our youth ministry/CCD, and all who are interested in helping plan this event. Our intention is to make this liturgy a
beautiful and fitting celebration of our unity in the Holy
Spirit, on the great feast of Pentecost. Come with your ideas!
-- Fr. Paul
Eucharistic Adoration: We are in need of volunteers to
commit themselves to an hour of Eucharistic Adoration each
Friday. Since we began regular hours of Friday Adoration in
Gonzales on March 12, 2014, we have been able to sustain
this wonderful devotion. To continue, we need to have
faithful and committed participants for each hour, 7 am - 10
pm. Thanks to all who have given their names; can you also
help? Call coordinators Connie Thomas, 512-393-8519, or
Emma Irle, 830-203-8114, to volunteer or receive more information.
Father Jason News: After serving these months at Sacred
Heart Church in Uvalde, Father Jason Martini will be reassigned as of July 1 of this year, as Parochial Vicar to St.
Peter Prince of the Apostles Parish in San Antonio. Please
join me in wishing Fr. Jason well in his future assignment! -Fr. Paul
Gonzales Catholic Cemetery: Thanks to all who helped in
the cleaning of our cemetery - and to all who have loved ones
buried there for observing the rules regarding placement of
flowers and other items. The assistance of all is greatly appreciated in keeping our “holy field” as it should be.
Please remember in prayer Mr. Alfredo Vargas, who recently died. Mr. Vargas is buried in the Waelder Community
Cemetery.

¿Puedes ayudar? Llame a Connie Thomas, 512-393-8519, o
