Please pray for the parents and chaperones for
our youth group who will be heading to Camp
Covecrest July 18-23 for fellowship and spiritual
growth. I would like to remind you that a crosswalk
has been installed at the intersection of 2nd Street
and 9th Avenue. A sidewalk will soon be installed along the north
side of 9th Avenue from 2nd Street to the handicapped parking lot.
The intersection of 1st Street and 9th Avenue is now a four-way
stop. No parking signs have been installed on 9th Avenue
between 2nd Street and 1st Street, so kindly refrain from parking
on 9th Avenue at anytime. Please stop by the parish office to
arrange for a Mass to be celebrated for a living or deceased
family member or friend. Mass intentions are a great way to give
the gift of grace.
–Sincerely Yours in Christ Fr. Larry
LoMonaco

STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT
Jesus is describing God’s immeasurable generosity when He says
in today’s Gospel, “Whoever asks, receives; whoever seeks, finds;
whoever knocks, is admitted.” But it should also be the
description of us as Christian stewards - those seeking to
follow Christ by using our gifts in service to others. We are
grateful this week for all stewards who embrace God’s mercy,
16TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
striving to make God’s mercy visible in our world by sharing it with
others.

CHURCH HUMOR!
One morning a nice lady went to the post office to mail the old
family Bible to her brother. “Is there anything breakable in here?”
~ Stewardship ~
gana?

FOR FAITH FORMATION

prior to the time of registration. As in previous years,
registration will be on a first-come, first served basis
and are due no later than August 1st. Payment should

received after the August 1st deadline. Registration forms
are available at the parish office.
Note: No child will be refused for financial
reasons. If you are unable to pay at this time, please call
the Faith Formation Office. Do not wait until August 1st.
Due to continuing space issues, new Faith
Formation families must reside within Hickory,
Bethlehem or Granite Falls and be registered
parishioners of St. Aloysius Church.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
St. Aloysius will again be offering “Catechesis of the Good
Shepherd” for our young parishioners from ages 3 to 6. These
sessions will meet on Tuesday afternoons next year from 1:00 to
2:30 and will follow the Faith Formation schedule. Space is limited
to 15 children and registration will be done on a first come, first
served basis. If you would like to register your child, please
use the Faith Formation registration form and write in
“Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.”
R.C.I.A. or
“How Does One Become a Catholic”?
Many Catholics are born into Catholic families and gradually
come to share in the full sacramental life of the Church. Others,
who have been previously baptized in a non-Catholic Christian
Church, have become Catholics after participating in a
formation process that leads to a profession of faith and the
celebration of the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist.
And some, never baptized, are initiated through a formation
process that leads to the celebrations of Baptism, Confirmation
and Eucharist. All sacraments are celebrated at the Easter Vigil
celebrated by the Catholic community. The Catholic Church
warmly welcomes new members and tries to provide an
atmosphere of spiritual formation according to each person's
needs. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the
Church's way of initiating new members. Our new year of
R.C.I.A. sessions will begin on Wednesday, September 14. We
meet from 7:00 to 8:15 PM in the Parlor. If interested, or if you
have any questions, please call Monica Ebelhack at the parish
office – 828-327-2341 or email: [email protected]
.
