A “Book of Remembrance” will be placed on the lectern, beside the credence table, at the back of the church sanctuary on October 31. I invite you to write the names of your deceased family members and friends in this book and we will pray for them at all Masses throughout the month of November. We will also have a special Mass of Remembrance at 5:15 PM on Wednesday, November 11. Our Adoration Chapel is one of only four locations in the Diocese of Charlotte to have 24 hour Perpetual Adoration. The Bishops’ pastoral letter on stewardship reminds us, “Every member of the Church is called to evangelize, and the practice of authentic Christian stewardship inevitably leads to evangelization.” We are grateful this week for all stewards in our parish who evangelize and bring Christ to the world by the example of their lives. SALVATION ARMY SHELTER NEEDS October is St. Aloysius' month to collect toiletries and personal need items for the Salvation Army Homeless Shelter. The trial sizes available of toothpaste, deodorant, soap and such are the perfect size for those who are at the Shelter. Also, any other personal need items such as disposable razors, feminine hygiene items, toothbrushes, mouthwash, floss, and ponchos are welcome as well. The Knights are taking orders for your favorite selections of fresh, sweet, Rio Grande Valley citrus. The anticipated distribution date for the fruit is the 6th and 7th of December. OPERATION LAMB After all Masses next weekend, the St. Aloysius Council of the Knights of Columbus will be giving away tootsie rolls for donations for their annual Operation LAMB Program. LAMB supports local organizations helping persons with Intellectual Disabilities such as Conover School, Catawba County Special Olympics, North Liberty School, CAMP Cogger and Holy Angels in Belmont. Also, the State K. of C. Council makes a large donation to J. Iverson Riddle Center in Morganton. Your help is appreciated supporting this great program. CHURCH HUMOR! It will also affirm any young men who feel they may have a calling to the priesthood and encourage them to continue to explore that call. WHAT’S HAPPENING NEXT SUNDAY… OCTOBER 25 Kicking Up Dust: This night will encourage and empower teenagers to lives of humble servant hood with joy in imitation of the diaconate. It will also provide the teens with concrete ways to serve in their homes, schools, and church. COMING UP Faith Formation Parents & Guardians For Safety Reasons, classroom doors are locked five (5) minutes after class begins. If you are late, please come to the Faith Formation Office. Also, because of Safe Environment Policies, parents are not permitted to wait in the hallways outside of their child’s room during class time. Remember: Children in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade must be walked in and picked up by a parent. No child will be released to anyone who is not a parent unless prior arrangements have been made with the catechist. No child will be released to anyone younger than 5th Grade. Life Nights: Issue Night- Sexual Identity The Bride Groom PERPETUAL ADORATION Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is available to anyone who wants to learn more about the Catholic faith, either non-baptized, baptized in a different faith tradition, or baptized Catholic with no further faith formation. You may just want to come and sit in for two or three sessions at first, just to see what it’s about. That’s great – drop in, no obligation, no commitment, your presence is all that’s required at first. We meet on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 – 8:15 in the Parlor. This Wednesday’s topic is: “Grace and Virtue.” If you would like more information, please call Monica Ebelhack at 327-2341. The immeasurable sacrifice that our Lord JESUS did, dying on the cross to save the world, cannot compare to any. How can we give back? Maybe by becoming one of God’s Prayer Warriors at the Adoration Chapel, spending one Holy Hour a week. The Chapel is always in need of two or more Adorers every hour. Our November meeting will be held on the normal third Tuesday, November 17th. Watch for information in the November bulletins. The annual Day of Reflection will be held this Wednesday, October 21st at the Catholic Conference Center. Msgr. Mauricio West will be our presenter. The day will begin with check-in and refreshments at 10:00 AM. After a morning program, lunch will be from 12:00 to 1:00 PM with the afternoon program following. Mass will be at 2:20 PM.
