During November, we are called in a special way
to remember our brothers and sisters who have
fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection. A
“Book of Remembrance” will be placed on the
lectern, beside the credence table, at the back of the
church sanctuary on October 31. I invite you to write the names
of your deceased family members and friends in this book and
we will pray for them at all Masses throughout the month of
November. We will also have a special Mass of Remembrance at
5:15 PM on Wednesday, November 11. Our Adoration Chapel is
one of only four locations in the Diocese of Charlotte to have 24
hour Perpetual Adoration. If you would like to reserve a special time
slot to spend time in prayer with our Lord, please call Melanie and
Dave King at 828-638-0462. Many thanks for your generosity to
this weekend’s second collection for World Mission Sunday.
- Sincerely Yours in Christ,

STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT
All discipleship involves mission. The Bishops’ pastoral letter on
stewardship reminds us, “Every member of the Church is called to
evangelize, and the practice of authentic Christian stewardship
inevitably leads to evangelization.” We are grateful this week for all
stewards in our parish who evangelize and bring Christ to the world
by the example of their lives.
TWENTY-NINTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
SAVE THE DATE

Aloysius is excited to offer a Couple’s
Date Night. Join us for dinner and a

SALVATION ARMY SHELTER NEEDS

need items for the Salvation Army Homeless Shelter. The trial
sizes available of toothpaste, deodorant, soap and such are the
perfect size for those who are at the Shelter. Also, any other
personal need items such as disposable razors, feminine hygiene
items, toothbrushes, mouthwash, floss, and ponchos are welcome
as well. Please put your donations in the plastic blue container
across from the restrooms. Thanks for helping your brothers and
sisters in need!
CHRISTIAN MOTHERS

Christian Mothers on Monday, October 19th for our monthly
meeting at 6:30 PM in the Video Room. Enjoy the evening as we

Special Olympics, North Liberty School, CAMP Cogger and Holy
Angels in Belmont. Also, the State K. of C. Council makes a large

appreciated supporting this great program.
CHURCH HUMOR!
Nine-year old Joey was asked by his mother what he learned in
Sunday School. “Well, mom, our teacher told us how God sent
Moses behind enemy lines to rescue the Israelites from Egypt.
When he got to the Red Sea, he had his army build a pontoon
bridge and all the people walked across safely. Then he radioed for
some bombers to blow up the bridge and wipe out Pharaoh’s army.
All the Israelites were saved!” “Now, Joey, is that what your teacher
taught you?” his mother inquired. “Well, no, mom. But if I told it the
way the teacher did, you would never believe it!”
aquí, agradecidos y humildes, a dar gracias a Dios.
Stewardship
staloysiushickory.org/parishioners/forms.

PERPETUAL ADORATION
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is
available to anyone who wants to learn more
about the Catholic faith, either non-baptized,
baptized in a different faith tradition, or
baptized Catholic with no further faith
formation. You may just want to come and sit
in for two or three sessions at first, just to
see what it’s about. That’s great – drop in, no obligation, no
commitment, your presence is all that’s required at first. We meet
on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 – 8:15 in the Parlor. This
Wednesday’s topic is: “Grace and Virtue.” If you would like more
information, please call Monica Ebelhack at 327-2341.
The immeasurable sacrifice that our Lord JESUS did, dying on the
cross to save the world, cannot compare to any. How can we give
back? Maybe by becoming one of God’s Prayer Warriors at the
Adoration Chapel, spending one Holy Hour a week. The Chapel
is always in need of two or more Adorers every hour. If you feel
you’re being called, please contact Dave and Melanie King at 828638-0462, email [email protected], or go to our parish
website to sign up staloysiushickory.org/parishioners/forms. Right
now we have one Holy Hour vacant: Mondays 3PM-4PM. Thank
you and may God be with us all.
“To save one life,” the Talmud teaches us, “is to save the world.”

Joan Chittister. Join us at 9:15-10:30 on Sunday mornings for
prayer, the lesson and discussion. Each class is a stand alone
lesson ~ come when you can. Next week: October 25th ~ No
