Christ, the Good Shepherd Parish Cristo, el Buen Pastor 633 Porter Avenue • Campbell, Ohio 44405 • (330.755.4141) (330)755-3633 (Español) (330)755-1367 (fax) • The Mission of Christ, the Goo Shepherd Parish is to celebrate the Sacraments, share our heritage and traditions, and support one another in living and sharing our faith in this community and throughout the world. 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time October 2, 2016 LET GO AND LET GOD Many twelve-step programs use the phrase “Let go and let God.” In all their simplicity, these five words are the heart of today’s readings. For people who struggle with addictive behavior, these words plainly remind us that we can’t manage, control, or manipulate certain areas of our lives. How many times can we look back in our lives and find evidence of some plan at work other than our own? These are the moments when, for whatever reasons, we let someone greater than ourselves work the plan. We probably didn’t even recognize at the time that we were letting go of anything, but in retrospect, we see God’s hand and loving presence. It is our awareness of these moments that gives us the courage and initiative to let go again later on. It is this courage and initiative that are highlighted in today’s readings. We come to call it “faith.” Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co. We have been working hard at offering opportunities for the high school youth of the two parishes. One consistent offering has been the open gym. Each month, we open the doors of the gym for games and time together. This past weekend, twenty youth were there. I look forward to the continued efforts in youth ministry. Of course, we would like to build upon the work that we have already done. After conducting interviews, Fr. Kevin Peters and I decided to hire Kelly Mesaros as our youth minister. She is responsible for the youth from both parishes. We ask God’s blessing upon her as she begins her new role. And, I must acknowledge the years of ministry that Jackie Orozco served as youth minister, even before we became Christ the Good Shepherd Parish. Thank you and God bless you! As Kelly begins her new role, and as she looks for ways to expand youth ministry, I encourage each of you to help her. Invite the high school youth in your life to participate in the activity that we are offering. They won’t be disappointed. God bless you, Fr. 375 Email: [email protected] 27TH ORDINARY SUNDAY - OCTOBER 2, 2016 • 5 STEWARDSHIP OF TREASURE October 2, 2016 -- 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time “For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather of power and love and self-control.” 2 TIM. 1:7 Many of us compartmentalize our Faith, we bring it out only when we attend Mass or when we attend a parish event. Being a good steward requires discipline and striving to put God first in everything, all the time. The next time you are at a neighborhood party, at work or out shopping, would your actions signal to others that you are a good and faithful servant of our Lord?
