Adult Confirmation Program The Adult Confirmation Program offered by the Archdiocese begins next week. All sessions are held in Manhattan over 8 weeks. Pilgrimage of NY 2016-Year of Mercy Pilgrimage of NY 2016-Year of Mercy: The top of Manhattan to the bottom of Manhattan! We will be walking the length of Manhattan, visiting churches in honor of the Year of Mercy! We will visit two churches named after two saints who are examples of God's Mercy: Saints Peter and Paul. Plus we will visit two churches that have designated Holy Doors for this jubilee year: St Frances Xavier Cabrini Shrine and St Patrick's Cathedral. This walk is a total of 13.5 total miles! Ash Wednesday Schedule February 10, 2016 7:00AM Mass 12:00PM Mass 6:00PM Mass In addition to our regular schedule for Ash Wednesday we will be adding in a special prayer service with the distribution of Ashes at 4pm. This prayer will be led by the families in the parish religious education program and is open to all parishioners and neighbors. We invite you to join us before you head home from school or work, if this fits your busy schedule. Let us pray take the opportunity to pray with and for each other during this Lenten season. SFDS Foodies Thanks to everyone who joined us on Tuesday, January 12 for dinner at Brick Lane Curry House. It was an evening filled with great conversation, lots of laughter, and of course, good food. It's a great way to make new friends, too. As one participant observed, "It's lovely to turn around at mass for the sign of peace and see the smile of someone you met through this group!" Peter’s Pence is the name given to the financial support offered by the faithful to the Holy Father as a sign of their sharing in the concern of the Successor of Peter for the many different needs of the Universal Church and for the relief of those most in need. Su Boletin en Español EL GRAN HIMNO AL AMOR Cabe dudar que, cuando san Pablo se sentó a escribir lo que ahora conocemos como el capítulo trece de la primera carta a los corintios, supiera que lo que estaba escribiendo se convertiría en una clave principal de la ética cristiana. En este breve pasaje, ha consignado ideales sobre el amor que se han mantenido firmes en el transcurso de los siglos. A veces pensamos que porque estos son sólo ideales a los que uno aspira, estamos libres de no practicarlos en nuestra vida diaria. Lo que Pablo estaba escribiendo era una carta a sus amigos, dándoles buenos consejos sobre lo que significaba –y todavía significa– vivir en el amor, día a día, en seguimiento de Cristo. Encontramos en las palabras a sus amigos una ampliación del gran mandamiento de Jesús de amar a Dios y al prójimo.
