 May/June 2015 Cherry Glen/Theiles Manor Neighborhood is
fortunate to have Lt. Troy Bergstrom assigned to
our neighborhood. He grew up in San Jose
where he once dreamed of becoming a park
ranger. While he was attending Humboldt State
University and then Sacramento State University,
he started becoming aware that he might be
interested in the job of a police officer. He took
part in some ride-a-longs in San Jose and
Sacramento and the more he got involved in it,
the more he liked it.
After finishing college, he was hired by the
San Mateo Police Department where he worked
for 5 years. He and his wife of 16 years started
looking at Roseville, which had been highly
recommended by many people. During the last
20 years as a police officer, he has worked
patrol, the gang division, SWAT team, Crime
Suppression Unit and now as a Lieutenant, he
takes on the role of the SWAT Team Commander
and oversees approximately 30 officers and
supervisors. Lt. Bergstrom says, “My job is very
gratifying. I do something different every single
day. I get to interact with different people in the
community.”
When Lt. Bergstrom is not working, he enjoys
spending time with his sons (13 and 15) and
wife traveling, skiing, hiking, and watching
sports on T.V.

tener el teniente Troy Bergstrom asignado a nuestro
barrio. Se crió en San José, donde una vez soñó con
convertirse en un guardaparque. Mientras él asistía a

Mateo donde trabajó durante 5 años. Él y su esposa
de 16 años comenzaron a buscar en Roseville, que
había sido altamente recomendado por muchas
personas. Ha trabajado durante los últimos 20 años
como oficial de policía, patrulla, la división de
banda, equipo SWAT, unidad de supresión del
crimen y ahora como un teniente, asume el papel del
comandante equipo SWAT y supervisa alrededor de
30 agentes y supervisores. El teniente Bergstrom
dice: "Mi trabajo es muy gratificante. Hago algo
diferente cada día. Llegue a interactuar con
diferentes personas en la comunidad."

The Moving Wall Vietnam Memorial is coming to Royer Park May 28th thru June
1st, 2015. The Vietnam War lasted ten years and over 2.5 million Americans
fought there. The Vietnam War was very much like the wars we fight today; it
was based on ideas that are spread by words and cemented in silence. In WWII
the infantryman fought an average of 10 major battles a year; in Vietnam that
number rose to 240. There is no question that the Americans fought the war that
they were given and they deserve our respect. Come join us May 28th at Royer
Park to welcome our troops home.

Then we want them to come to Cirby Transitional Kindergarten.
Kindergarten readiness is the primary goal of the TK program, which focuses on language and literacy
activities as well as early math skills. There is a strong emphasis on social, emotional, and motor skill
development. TK students will automatically be placed in a traditional kindergarten class at their home school
for the 2016-2017 school year. You do not have to re-register your student.
There is no cost for this program.
