Annual St. Monica Church
Festival is Saturday, Aug. 22
Each year in August, the parish gathers on church grounds to celebrate the Feast of Saint Monica. What makes this festival special are not the ‘things’ we present but, the bonds of fellowship we build within our church community as we
share moments seeing our children play together, sharing a beverage with someone we just met, or volunteering to provide a safe quality event. Through building these bonds our church community is strengthened and continues to be
blessed.
Bingo Donations - Gift items are needed
for Bingo prizes. Items may be used but
must be in nice condition and appropriate for
ages 18 and up (No clothing). Place your
donation in the boxes in the Narthex or Parish Hall.
Volunteer Opportunity - Many volunteers
are needed to make this festival a success.
Sign-ups are in the Narthex. Please be generous with your time as we can not do this
without you.

Fr. Spitz to speak at St. John’s
Fr. Simeon Spitz, O.S.B. will tell his story of the life of
monasticism at St. Gregory Abbey on Monday, Aug. 3, at 7
p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Edmond.
Did you know that when the Second Vatican Council
concluded in 1965 there were 12,271
religious brothers in the U.S., but 50
years later that number is only 4,318?
However, these numbers do not tell
the whole story; in recent years a
tide of interest in the religious life has
begun to rise. Indeed, the Holy Spirit
continues to touch, call and raise up
Fr. Simeon Spitz
gifts within the Church.
In the words of Abbot Lawrence Stasyszen, Brother
Simeon Spitz “has been touched by the Spirit of God, and
has made a long journey to seek truth, wisdom, beauty and
fullness of life itself. He has found the culmination of his
journey in Jesus Christ, and his path in life will never be the
same as it once was.”
Retrouvaille
Hope and healing for troubled, separated and divorced
couples can be found at the OKC Retrouvaille Program

seguían a Jesús.
