Thirty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time
November 6, 2016
My steps have been steadfast in your paths,
my feet have not faltered.
I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God.
— Psalm 17:5 6a
LIFE EVERLASTING
The second book of Maccabees tells a powerful story, and a rather gruesome one at that. But central to it, beyond
the horrible deaths inflicted upon the brothers and their mother, is their belief in the promise of resurrection and life
everlasting in God.
Paul asks the Thessalonians to pray for him as he spreads Christ’s message of love, so that he might be delivered
from other nonbelievers anxious to do him harm. The apostle is confident in such prayer, just as he is confident in the
everlasting support of Jesus and God the Father.
And there’s that “everlasting” word again. The Sadducees, not buying the idea, ask Jesus an interesting—albeit
meaningless—question about the status of married life at the Resurrection. He tells the non-believers that marriage
isn’t an issue for the risen children of God. More importantly, he assures them that their ancestors do live on in God,
even as evidenced by the Father’s words to Moses.

through this right now. At this gathering, we will
explore persecution and genocide with Father
Innocent, who will share some of his experiences
from Rwanda.

WE BELIEVE IN COMMUNION OF SAINTS
This past week, on November 1st, we celebrated All Saints Day. We celebrated all Saints
known and unknown. It was a special time for us to remember and celebrate people who have
been examples for us in our lives and intercessors for us to God. The beginning of the celebration
of their feast dates back to the early Church when in the Roman Empire many were martyred for
their faith in Jesus Christ and the Church wanted to recognize them. All Saints lived their lives in
faith and hope and are reminders to us how we can live our lives. Following what Jesus teaches us
in the gospels leads us to full lives on earth and a great hope in reaching the eternal life in heaven.
Following All Saints Day, on November 2nd,we celebrated All Souls Day, a day where we
remember all who have passed away and we pray especially for all the souls in purgatory. Praying
for the dead is our obligation as Catholics and it is a good tradition in the Church. This whole
month of November is dedicated for them and we pray for them at all the Masses. Praying for the
deceased is one of the greatest acts of charity. We keep in prayer the deceased members of our
families, friends and community during this whole month and pray that they have been received by
God into His eternal Kingdom of Heaven. "Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual
light shine upon them." May the Souls of the faithful departed, through the Mercy of God, rest in
peace. Amen .

Trigésimo Segundo Domingo
del Tiempo Ordinario
6 de noviembre de 2016
Mis pies estuvieron firmes en tus caminos,
y no vacilaron mis pasos.
Yo te invoco porque tú me respondes.
— Salmo 17 (16):5 6a
VIDA ETERNA

SHARE THE BLESSINGS OF THANKSGIVING!
For the first time ever, the Auburn Interfaith Food Closet is hosting a community wide turkey drive
on November 19, 2016 at the Grocery Outlet Parking lot. This turkey drive will benefit all Auburn
low income families with three or more living in their household who register for a turkey online at
www.auburnfoodcloset.org.
It will not be limited to clients of the AIFC, but will also benefit clients of The Auburn Salvation
Army, 7th Day Adventists, and Sierra Reach Ministries. It is actually open to families who have
never before visited one of these food closets.
The number of turkeys given will equal the number of turkeys donated. None of the turkeys
donated in Sacramento reach Auburn, so we decided it was time Auburn had its own event.
We are asking your help in Sharing the Blessings of Thanksgiving by donating turkeys at the
Grocery Outlet Parking lot on Saturday, November 19. Our goal is to have 800 turkeys to give to
families in our community.
If you know of families who could benefit from receiving a turkey, they can register online at
www.auburnfoodcloset.org. This is a first come, first served list of registered families. Please let
people know we want to Share the Blessings of Thanksgiving in Auburn.
