Christian stewards know what their gifts are and remain committed to using them in the service of the Lord. Do we know what our gifts are? Do we believe that God has given us these gifts? Are we committed to using our gifts to serve the Lord? Have you considered answering the call to help serve, by joining the Society of St. Vincent de Paul? For more information about the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, please visit www.svdprr.org. Marriage - Why God's Design “Where homosexual unions have been legally recognized or have been given the legal status and rights belonging to marriage, clear and emphatic opposition is a duty. One must refrain from any kind of formal cooperation in the enactment or application of such gravely unjust laws and, as far as possible, from material cooperation on the level of their application. In this area, everyone can exercise the right to conscientious objection. The Church teaches that respect for homosexual persons cannot lead in any way to approval of homosexual behavior or to legal recognition of homosexual unions. The common good requires that laws recognize, promote and protect marriage as the basis of... SACRED HEART COMMUNITY CLINIC HOURS: Walk-ins, Tues. & Thurs., 5 p.m.—8 p.m.; Registrations, Mon. & Fri., 9 a.m.—Noon FIFTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING St. Paul reminds us in his letter today that we are God’s chosen, adopted children. We have been blessed by God in being called and in being given a special share in His life. But this blessing requires that we accept the responsibility of discipleship. Like Amos, though we may not understand why God has given us this blessing and task, we will be given the grace to see it through in faithfulness and trust. How can you act on your call to discipleship this week? PRO-LIFE LINE/ LINEA PRO-VIDA Marriage—Why God’s Design—Continued from page 5 ...the family, the primary unit of society. Legal recognition of homosexual unions or placing them on the same level as marriage would mean not only the approval of deviant behavior, with the consequence of making it a model in present-day society, but would also obscure basic values which belong to the common inheritance of humanity. The Church cannot fail to defend these values, for the good of men and women and for the good of society itself. ~ Directives of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger on behalf of Pope St. John Paul II Vigil for Life—July 18 St. Catherine of Siena Parish – 4800 Convict Hill Rd, Austin – will host the July 18 Vigil for Life. As the founder of Christ Child Society, Mary Virginia Merrick stated “Nothing is ever too much to do for a child.” FIFTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME GOOD NEIGHBORS IMPORTANT NOTE FROM THE PASTOR NOTA IMPORTANTE DEL PÁRROCO Dear Saint William Parishioners, Queridos Feligreses de Saint William, In the last couple of months, I have been receiving frequent complaints from the City of Round Rock and the Round Rock Neighborhood Association about Saint William parishioners and visitors parking in the neighborhood off of Bluff Drive. These complaints all happened on Sundays during our regular Mass times. This is very disturbing because we have plenty of parking at Saint William and there is really no need to be parking on Bluff Drive or in front of people’s houses. The complaints have very real consequences for Saint William. One of the consequences is that a building permit was not being granted because the City didn’t think we had adequate parking and wanted us to add hundreds of thousands of dollars to our building project cost to add more parking because of the complaints that they are receiving. Another consequence, and the one that I am most concerned about, is our relationship with our neighbors. We have made great strides in fostering a good relationship with those that live all around our property, especially during very busy and loud times, e.g. Spring Fiesta, Easter, Christmas, and Our Lady of Guadalupe celebrations. By parking on Bluff Drive, especially in front of neighborhood houses and when there is plenty of parking on site, we are being disrespectful. Effective immediately, we are asking that parishioners and visitors only park in the Saint William parking lots. Please do not park on Bluff Drive. I implore you; please help us be good neighbors and park in our lots. We are blessed to have all the parking that we do, please use it. Grace and Peace, Fr.
