He urges them to give and helps them understand that through their generosity, they will in turn be recipients of a spiritual abundance. They will receive from those who are the beneficiaries of their own giving; a reciprocal gift that amounts to an equality of giving through the generosity of Christ. A good reflection this week would be how Christian stewards enjoy spiritual abundance through Christ Jesus because of their generosity. THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Saint Vincent’s Corner In today’s Gospel we see how in faith, Jarius asked Jesus to heal his daughter and how Jesus then answered his prayer. In prayer we also come to know that we are loved by God, and in that trust we ask for healing for ourselves, our loved ones and all those who are suffering. During the month of May, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul brought the love and care of Jesus to the poor by assisting 172 (590 people) families. We were able to provide 3,386 lbs. in food, a value of $5,722 and paid $21,922 for utility, rent and other miscellaneous bills, etc. This reflects a $27,644 impact on our community. Thank You for your support as we serve those in need. For more information about the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, please visit www.svdprr.org. Marriage - Why God's Design “Let it never be forgotten that the word of God is at the very origin of marriage (cf. Gn 2:24) and that Jesus himself made marriage one of the institutions of his kingdom (cf. Mt 19:4-8). Jesus elevated to the dignity of a sacrament what was inscribed in human nature from the beginning. Today marriage is in many ways under attack in the face of widespread confusion about love’s meaning, along with the rise of ways of thinking which trivialize the human body and sexual differentiation. God’s word reaffirms the original goodness of the human being, created as man and woman, and called to a love which is faithful, reciprocal and fruitful. The great mystery of marriage is the source of the essential responsibility of parents toward their children.” ~ 11/23/210, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI http://www.foryourmarriage.org/pope-benedict-speaks-about-marriage-family-and-gods-word/ FREQUENT NUMBERS/ NUMEROS FREQUENTES PASTORAL CARE Liturgy Divorce & Beyond Bereavement Ministry Hospital visit (English) Hospital visit (Español) Homebound (English) Homebound (Spanish) Nursing Home Ministry Debbie George Debbie George Debbie George Mary DiBonito Martha Estrada Geri Lynn Martha Estrada Azucena Overman 600-8158 600-8158 600-8158 934-3235 417-8722 629-9006 417-8722 627-6423 SPIRITUAL LIFE Eucharist Adoration Pilgrim Statue Our Lady of Grace Estatua Peregrina Praise & Worship Prayer Line Parish Bible Study Legion of Mary Gigi Lewis Debbie Davis Rosie Russi Les & Gabriele Miller Joan A. SACRED HEART COMMUNITY CLINIC HOURS: Walk-ins, Tues. & Thurs., 5 p.m.—8 p.m.; Registrations, Mon. & Fri., 9 a.m.—Noon THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING This week, both the Gospel and first reading affirm the healing and life-giving power of God’s love. Yet, we experience that death, suffering and pain are a very real part of life. Many find themselves asking: “Where is God?” The death and resurrection of Jesus is the assurance that God is with us in the midst of pain, suffering and even death and bringing us to new life. How can we hold others in their pain and suffering to help them to trust in God? Who needs the witness of your faith and love this week? PRO-LIFE LINE/ LINEA PRO-VIDA Pray for Marriage! Please continue to pray the Rosary and fast daily for the U.S. Supreme Court Justices to be guided by right reason in order to render a true and just decision, as they deliberate the fate of marriage – whether to uphold states’ rights to preserve the legal definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman – and religious freedom in America. The decision of the court is expected by the end of June 2015. Fortnight for Freedom: June 21 – July 24 The Fortnight for Freedom: Freedom to Bear Witness will take place from June 21–July 4, 2015 during the time when our liturgical calendar celebrates a series of great martyrs who remained faithful in the face of persecution by political power. The theme of this year's Fortnight will focus on the “freedom to bear witness” to the truth of the Gospel Theology of the Body—Retreat for Teens—July 31 Theology of the Body retreat for teens will be held July 31 -August 2 at Eagle’s Wings Retreat Center in Burnet. The Christ Child Society provides approximately 1,000 layettes each year to mothers and babies in need. As the founder of Christ Child Society, Mary Virginia Merrick stated “Nothing is ever too much to do for a child.” THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME GOOD NEIGHBORS IMPORTANT NOTE FROM THE PASTOR NOTA IMPORTANTE DEL PÁRROCO Dear Saint William Parishioners, Queridos Feligreses de Saint William, In the last couple of months, I have been receiving frequent complaints from the City of Round Rock and the Round Rock Neighborhood Association about Saint William parishioners and visitors parking in the neighborhood off of Bluff Drive. These complaints all happened on Sundays during our regular Mass times. This is very disturbing because we have plenty of parking at Saint William and there is really no need to be parking on Bluff Drive or in front of people’s houses. The complaints have very real consequences for Saint William. One of the consequences is that a building permit was not being granted because the City didn’t think we had adequate parking and wanted us to add hundreds of thousands of dollars to our building project cost to add more parking because of the complaints that they are receiving. Another consequence, and the one that I am most concerned about, is our relationship with our neighbors. We have made great strides in fostering a good relationship with those that live all around our property, especially during very busy and loud times, e.g. Spring Fiesta, Easter, Christmas, and Our Lady of Guadalupe celebrations. By parking on Bluff Drive, especially in front of neighborhood houses and when there is plenty of parking on site, we are being disrespectful. Effective immediately, we are asking that parishioners and visitors only park in the Saint William parking lots. Please do not park on Bluff Drive. I implore you; please help us be good neighbors and park in our lots. We are blessed to have all the parking that we do, please use it. Grace and Peace, Fr.
