From the Pastor: In the city of Zamora
we visited the cathedral where a Norbertine bishop is buried –Bernardo Conde y Corral. He was
Bishop of Zamora from 1863-1880 and a Council
Father at Vatican I. He is buried in the transept,
just to the right of the sanctuary beneath one of
the earliest Romanesque domes in Spain. It is a
beautiful place to be buried!
Eventually, we made our way to Burgos where there is,
once again, a beautiful cathedral. While in Burgos we met the
widow of a young woman who had done her doctoral studies on
the foundation of the Spanish Norbertine Abbey of Santa Maria
de la Vid. Teresa died shortly after she earned her doctorate.
Her death was tragic for her family as well as for the Norbertine
Order for which she had given a great gift by her studies. Brother
Terry has made specific efforts to distribute the results of her
studies to important academic centers and Norbertine archives.
Our next stop was Lleida (Lay-ee-da) in the state of Catalonia (Cataluña). Barcelona is the capitol city of Catalonia. In Catalonia they speak Catalan, which is by my judgment a combination of Spanish, French, and Italian. Of course, they understand
and speak Spanish as well.
While in Lleida, you guessed it, I visited the cathedrals! the old and the new cathedral. The old one is set on the highest
hill overlooking the city. It has a 200 foot high bell tower with a
238 step spiral staircase leading to the top. I climbed it and took
some beautiful photos. I stayed up there a long time in order to
recuperate before the journey down.
While in Lleida we travelled by bus and taxi to visit the old Norbertine Abbey of Santa
Maria de Bellpuig de Las Avellanas. Today the Marist community
lives there. The layman who is the archivist gave us a 2 hour
tour and history of the religious community, the buildings, and
local area. As he talked I could almost feel the history and the
people. The Marists were very hospitable as they invited us to
lunch and then offered us a ride back to Lleida. More to come.

Giving Tree
Each year we help provide
Christmas gifts and food to
about 50 families(100 children).
The Social Concerns Committee will be erecting a Christmas
tree on November 19. On this tree will be ornaments that specify a child’s age and clothing size,
or just age for toy gifts. Our goal is to provide 2
clothing and one toy gift for each child.
You are then invited to help with one or several children by taking ornaments from the tree and
purchasing the item. We ask that your gifts be
brought to church UNWRAPPED, and with the ornament securely attached by
December 14. If you don’t have time to shop, a
donation towards the purchase of gifts is also gratefully accepted and we will do the shopping for you.

As a part of “giving thanks” we ask all in attendance
to bring in food items for our food pantry. If possible,
please bring in some of the following items:
Jelly, Pancake syrup, Pancake mix, Pasta sauce
Hamburger helper, canned meat, Crackers
Also, as has bee the custom, the collection taken at
these Masses will go towards the purchase of food gift
certificates for our giving tree families. Giving the
families gift certificates for their Christmas
dinner is an added treat we hope to continue.

Mensaje de Nuestro Párroco: En la ciudad de
Zamora visitamos la catedral, donde un obispo
Norbertino está enterrado -Bernardo Conde y Corral. El
fue Obispo de Zamora a partir 1863/80 y un miembro del
Consejo en el Vaticano I. El esta enterrado en el crucero, justo a
la derecha del santuario bajo una de las cú pulas romá nicos má s
antiguos de Españ a. Es un hermoso lugar para ser enterrado!
Finalmente, nos dirigimos a Burgos, donde hay, una
vez má s, una hermosa catedral. Mientras que en Burgos nos
encontramos con la viuda de un joven que habı́a hecho sus
estudios de doctorado en la fundació n de la abadı́a
premonstratense españ ola de Santa Marı́a de la Vid. Teresa
murió poco despué s de obtener su doctorado. Su muerte fue
trá gica para su familia, ası́ como para la Orden Norbertina para
la que habı́a dado un gran regalo por sus estudios. El Hermano
Terry ha puesto todos sus esfuerzos especı́ icamente a la
distribució n de los resultados de sus estudios a los diferentes
centros acadé micos y archivos Norbertinos.

catedrales! - La antigua y la nueva catedral. La antigua está
situada en la colina má s alta con vista a la ciudad. Tiene un
campanario de 200 pies con una escalera de caracol de 238
escalones que conduce a la cima. Subı́ y tome algunas fotos
hermosas. Me quedé allı́ mucho tiempo con el in de
recuperarme antes del viaje hacia abajo. Mientras que en Lleida
viajamos en autobú s y taxi para visitar la antigua abadı́a
premonstratense de Santa Maria de Bellpuig de Las Avellanas.
Hoy en dı́a la comunidad marista vive allı́. El laico que es el
encargado de los archivos nos dio un tour de 2 horas y nos
hablo de la historia de la comunidad religiosa, los edi icios, y el
á rea local. A medida que hablaba casi podı́a sentir la historia y
el pueblo. Los maristas eran muy hospitalarios, ya que nos
invitaron a comer y luego nos ofrecieron un viaje de vuelta a

podemos dar algo a cambio al
Señor compartiendo para
agradecer su infinita bondad?

Celebraciones Guadalupanas
Y celebración del 25 aniversario
Ya se acerca la fiesta de la
Santísima Virgen de
Guadalupe. De nuevo este
año el día 11 de Diciembre
la iglesia estará abierta
toda la noche para que
todos tengan la oportunidad
de venir a rezarle o cantarle
a Nuestra Virgencita
Morena.
También invitamos a todos los
grupos, bandas y coros que deseen
cantar durante este festejo, a que nos
llamen y así poder incluirlos en
nuestro Horario de Eventos.
Además les pedimos a todos los que
quieran ayudar con las preparaciones
para esta fiesta que nos llamen a la
oficina para apuntarlos en el grupo de

El Árbol de Obsequios
Cada año damos regalos
Navideños y comida a aproximadamente a 50 familias (alrededor de 100+ niños).
El 19 de Noviembre, el
comité de Asuntos Humanos
pondrá un arbolito de navidad con adornos de papel color rosa y azul. Algunos adornos son para
ropa y otros son para
juguetes. En los adornos para ropa encontraran la edad y
talla de ropa, y en los de juguetes esta la edad solamente.
Nuestra meta es el proveer 2
prendas de vestir y un juguete para cada niño.
Los invitamos a que ayuden a uno o mas
niños. Tomen un adorno del árbol de obsequios y compren lo que se pide en el adorno.
Les pedimos que traigan sus regalos
SIN ENVOLVER, y con el adorno bien pegado a mas tardar el 14 de Diciembre. Si no tienen tiempo de ir de compras, aceptaremos su
donación monetaria para el regalo y nosotros lo compraremos por usted. Gracias!
El Grupo de Oración tendrá un concierto Católico con el
cantante Rafael Tiburcio en St. Willebrord.
Venga y participe en los cantos de alabanza.

Venga a rezar el Rosario con Nosotros
Después de la misa diaria de 7:15 quédese a rezar el
rosario. Tómese unos minutos para unirse en oración
con este grupo especial.
