Loverde Free Admission and Parking Sponsored by Diocese of Arlington Eucharistic Family Rosary Crusade www.arlingtondiocese.org/pilgrimage — Father Peyton I n 1938, Father Peyton contracted a severe case of tuberculosis while studying as a seminarian at Holy Cross College in Washington D.C. After the doctors had failed to find a cure for him, he turned to the Blessed Mother and promised to spend his life promoting devotion to her if he were healed. Miraculously, he was cured and began to lead large Rosary Crusades for tens of thousands of people in various cities including New York, San Francisco and New Orleans. In 1985, Father Peyton’s Rosary Rally in the Philippines drew more than two million people. Saturday, October 8, 2011 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington, D.C. F Diocesan Pilgrimage Prayer o r U n i t y & Pe a c e W i t h i n Our Families, Our Communities, Our World Our Legacy The late Pope John Paul II declared 2004 as the “Year of the Rosary.” The Holy Father continued this challenge and, in 2005, urged Catholics to dedicate themselves to a “Year of the Eucharist.” Our Diocesan Pilgrimage includes Eucharistic Adoration, a Global Living Rosary and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, honoring the legacy of Pope John Paul II in the bold vision of Pope Benedict XVI. Our Intention On May 13, 1917, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to three children in Fatima, Portugal. She told the children to pray the rosary daily for world peace. If we follow Our Lady’s advice, peace will indeed come to our families, our communities and our world. Our Hope Recent history is marked by milestones of conflict, terrorism, natural disasters and cultural upheaval. So that peace will come, we must seek a remedy. The solution is prayer and adoration of our Lord and honoring Our Lady. Your Challenge You are encouraged to prepare for this dynamic spiritual event by praying the daily family rosary and attending one of three regional events. Then, join us for the Diocesan Pilgrimage on Saturday, October 8, 2011, when thousands of prayers will be lifted as one! Come. Receive abundant blessings! Heavenly Father, You have made us in Your own image and likeness, and have sent Your Son to be Our Savior by dying for us on the Cross. As we journey on our Diocesan Pilgrimage, increase our spiritual hunger for the Real Presence of Jesus in the Most Holy Eucharist. Prepare our hearts to receive Him more worthily and with a greater love. Strengthen our desire and commitment to adore Him through weekly Eucharistic Holy Hours with our families. Make us instruments of peace, reconciliation and forgiveness in our families, cities and nation. Send your Holy Spirit upon us to renew all the members of our Diocese of Arlington with a great fervor for the New Evangelization and the salvation of souls. Thank you for the gift of the Blessed Virgin Mary who leads us ever closer to Your Son. May our families receive graces of wisdom and understanding as we pray the daily Rosary. We make this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God forever and ever. Amen.
