St. Monica’s Annual Memorial Service
Christmas is a time of great joy and family spirit as we celebrate the
profound truth of the birth of Jesus. Yet when a loved one has died,
that same time of joy and celebration may leave us feeling empty and
cold. In Christian love and prayer, the St. Monica community wants to
accompany those who are grieving this season by helping you to honor
memories and to experience the spirit of your deceased loved one in a
special way. The St. Monica Bereavement Ministry invites all who are
grieving a death to join us for our annual Memorial Service on
Saturday, December 7 at 10 a.m. in the St. Augustine Room. At that time we will
remember by name those we have lost. All are welcome, especially friends and family of
the deceased. Please RSVP with the names of all who will attend. Contact Mary Jo
Gallagher, 872-3005 or [email protected]
Remember in Faith…and speak their names.
Remember in Hope…and light a candle.
Remember in Love…and pray with us.

Adorers Needed Monday Nights
Praise God, one of the Eucharistic Adorers is starting her novitiate with the Carmelite
Sisters! While this is a WONDERFUL thing, we do now have a need for a Eucharistic
Adorer on Mondays from 6-7 p.m. Please consider spending time in our Lord's most holy
presence in the Eucharist for one hour a week. Or perhaps your ministry, committee or
Small Church Community would consider sharing the coverage of this hour?
If interested, please contact Natalie Hoefer at 295-1697.
Sister Parish Reflections: Sarah Hein
As I write my reflection on this year's trip to Lepaterique. it has not been as easy to pull
everything together and put into words what I wanted to say, for whatever the reason. So,
I decided to "let go and let God," as my mother used to repeatedly tell me. Each year that
I am lucky enough to visit Lepaterique, every visit is wonderful and full of God's
grace. There are several things that I see as constants in each and every visit. One of
those constants is the love that just oozes out of every person that one comes into contact
with in Lepaterique. It is given and taken and shared without reservation, between St.
Monica and St. James the Apostle. I have often written that the love from our brothers
and sisters in Lepaterique is extremely warm--like a soft quilt wrapped around you on a
cold winter night.
The other constant is the faith that is shared--our beautiful Catholic faith, which is the
same no matter the language. The strength of that faith is unique to each person.
However, in Lepaterique, it is a faith-filled community, which only helps to strengthen
my own individual faith. To know that St. James the Apostle prays for St. Monica on
daily basis, humbles me to no end. It also continues to make me grateful for my own gift
of faith and the examples of faith that I have been fortunate enough to witness during my
visits to Lepaterique.
As part of one family, it is a joy to be able to return to Lepaterique each year and see
those that I love and feel that love returned ten-fold. Therefore, I will end this reflection
and look forward to writing next year's...

Contacte a
Shirley Alveal al 251-3393
The next PTO Meeting will be Tuesday,
December 3 at 7 p.m.
Helping The Lord’s Pantry
The Lord's Pantry depends on the nonperishable foods we bring in each week
and put in the blue food bin in the
Narthex. The Pantry services around 100
clients each week, every Tuesday morning
from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the
Witherspoon Presbyterian Church, 5136
N. Michigan Road.
Unfortunately, we cannot use clothing or
diapers; please donate those to the St.
Vincent de Paul Society or the Gabriel
Project. Thank you so much for all of
your generous giving, and please join us
on Tuesdays mornings to help distribute
the food! Peace, from the Lord's Pantry
Team. For more information, all Bill

Reflexiones de Nuestra Parroquia Hermana: Sarah
Hein

Parish Pastoral Council (PPC)
The Parish Pastoral Council is a consultative body of
parishioners who assist the Pastor in guiding the parish on issues
requiring practical wisdom and investigation. The PPC has three
purposes: 1) to investigate pastoral matters; 2) to give these
matters in-depth consideration and prayer; and 3) to propose
practical conclusions and assist in cultivating our vision. Twelve
parishioners discerned their participation on PPC for a threeyear term through June 30, 2015 related to the parish theme of
“Immersed in Christ: One Body. One Mission.” The PPC meets
the second Wednesday of the month. All parishioners are
welcome to attend! The next meeting is December 11 from
