St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Parish 440 Kendall Street, Burlington, WI | 262.763.2260 April 24, 2016 Rev. Jim Volkert, Pastor | Rev. Yamid Blanco, Associate Pastor A message from Fr. Jim . . . The spring time of the year brings with it many celebrations which center around a number of sacraments, namely the Sacrament of First Holy Communion, the Sacrament of Confirmation, and the Sacrament of Holy Orders. The children from our three parishes will receive our Lord in Holy Communion for the first time the weekend of April 23/24 at St. Charles and on Sunday, May 1st at St. Joseph and St. Mary. What a wonderful day for them! For those of us who had this wonderful day some years ago, perhaps we could offer a prayer of thanksgiving for the gift of the Eucharist that we may sometimes take for granted. Although the young people of our parishes already received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Thursday, March 10th, many other parishes are still celebrating this sacrament at this time. Our young people prepare diligently for this big step in their faith lives. For those of us who have already received the gift of the Holy Spirit through the Sacrament of Confirmation, perhaps we could offer a prayer thanking God for the gift of His Spirit, and ask Him to help us use it to make our families, society and Church better places. This year the Archdiocese of Milwaukee can give thanks for the gift of three new priests! Rev. Patrick Behling, Rev. Andrew Linn and Rev. Michael Wolfe will be ordained to the priesthood on Saturday, May 21st at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. With the shortage of priests as severe as it is, we can all offer a prayer of thanks for these three men who are accepting the responsibility of priestly ministry. Please continue to pray for more vocations to the priesthood and for those who are preparing for ordination. Congratulations to all of these people and their families on these momentous occasions. May the Lord bless them and continue to watch over them as they grow in the faith of the Church! God bless you always. Father Jim Volkert PARISH SUPPORT Please pray for and congratulate these children as they receive their First Holy Communion this weekend: Allan Rebollar, Angel Jaramillo, Angelica Glowicki, Angelina Watson, Ashley Schaal, Avangelene Edelman, Chase Reesman, Clare Yopp, Donny Muchuca, Elizabeth Melchi, Elizabeth Frank, Emilyanne Giese, Fabian Jimenez, Gabriel Edelman, Gisselle Sanchez, Iliana Rodrigues, Isabel Maldanado, Jaxon Campbell, Jennifer Mendoza Blas, Jesus Jimenez, Joselyn Trejo, Lucas Kreuscher, Madilyn Farmer, Marcus Flores, Mia Espinoza, Naomi Watson, Natalie Leach, Payton Tridle, Rene Beltran-Hernandez, Ruben Yanez-Hernandez, Sara Beltran Hernandez, Tatiana Gonzalez, Tenner Herrell, and Victoria Mller. Jesus And Me News Children ages 3-8 are welcome to join Jesus And Me, which happens in Andre Hall at the 10:00 mass during Liturgy of the Word. JAM continues throughout the summer, reinforcing to children to ‘Keep Holy the Sabbath Day.’ Parents and grandparents, can you be a helper during the summer months? Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade may earn service hours by helping with Jesus And Me time. Helpers act as an aide for the leader, assisting with activities, crafts and supporting these ‘little people’ as they learn about their faith. If you have 30 minutes to spare on a Sunday morning and believe it is important to ‘train up a child in the way he should go,’ please call Jenny at 767-0740 to volunteer. There will be no JAM on First Holy Communion Sunday, so that families can celebrate the mass together. Retrouvaille Do you feel distant from your spouse? Fight all the time? May God bless our advertisers! No me refiero sólo a clases, libros, conferencias.
