Dear Parent or Guardian,
It is with great pleasure that I write to inform you that your child's class has been chosen to
be a part of a partnership with the San Francisco Opera (SFO). We hope you are as excited as
we are at this wonderful opporlunity to enhance your child's education with arts-based
learning. The opera is an art form that encompasses many others-music, acting, dance, and
the visual arts, just to name a few. It incorporates the study of language, history and culture
and can help motivate students to learn about these subjects through its thrilling stories.
During this partnership your childrs teacher will be working with SFO staff and teaching
artists to integrate learning about the art form of the opera into the classroom. This may
include seeing performances, whether in school or on a field trip to the War Memorial Opera
House, and possibly creating their own original opera, from text and music to rehearsal and
performance. There may also be opportunities for parents to be involved in these activities.
We will make sure you are aware of these opportunities as they arise.

seleccionada para asociarse con la Opera de San Francisco (SFO). Esperamos que Ud. este
entusismado al igual que nosotros con esta magnifica oportunidad para mejorar la educacion
de su hijo/a con una ensenanza basada en el arte. La opera es una forma de arte que incluye a
otras artes como musica, actuacion, danza y artes visuals, solo para nombrar algunas.
Incorpora el estudio del lenguaje, historia y cultura y ayuda a motivar al estudiante a
aprender sobre estas 3 materias a traves de interesantes cuentos.

Durante este periodo el/la profesor/a de su hijo/a estara trabajando en conjunto con
miembros de SFO y educando a artistas a como integrar el aprendisaje del arte de la opera
la sala de clases. Esto puede incluir ver presentaciones ya sea en la Escuela o en paseos al
"War Memorial Opera House" y posiblememte creando su propia opera desde el texto y
musica hasta los ensayos y presentaciones. Si existiese la posibilidad de que los padres
puedieran involucrarse en esta actividad nos aseguraremos de informarles cuando esta se

presente.
