Dear friends ~ Queridos amigos,
Pope Francis has declared this year as an Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy. It has been an amazing experience, especially
here in the San Gabriel Pastoral Region where we have seen the wonderful outreach through 24 Hours for the Lord, Mercy in the
Streets, Mercy Nights and a Prayer Service for Mercy Forgiveness, & Healing. Through all of this we have been on a Journey of
Mercy! All roads on the Journey of Mercy lead us to the heart of Jesus, to this most beautiful, wounded, bleeding for us, Sacred
Heart of Jesus.
We invite you to the San Gabriel Regional Congress where together we can continue to reflect on the Journey of Mercy.
Bishop David O’Connell will be with us all day and he will preside at our closing Liturgy. We look forward to seeing you on
October 8, 2016.

Youth Track General Info
Across the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, many high school teens serve their parish and school communities in
leadership roles. The Regional Congress Youth Track is an opportunity for peer leaders to continue growing in their
faith and developing their leadership skills through workshops that are specifically intended for these young
leaders. We ask that adults register for the youth track workshops only if they are bringing youth participants.
Please note that parishes and schools are responsible for providing the appropriate chaperones and supervision for
the youth they bring to the Regional Congress. (see page 2)

Presenters: The Youth track will be presented by a team of adult leaders who have served the Archdiocese of
Los Angeles as directors and small group leaders for Christian Leadership Institute (CLI) and other leadership
programs for teens. The Youth Track team will be led by Katie Zeigler, Coordinator of Youth Ministry in the Office
of Religious Education.

Leadership. When you hear this word, many different things come to mind. But peer leaders, like other Youth
Ministry leaders, are called to a particular type of leadership: Christian leadership. Do you know what that really

YOUTH
Just like a person’s heartbeat is essential for the
person to live, community is essential in Youth
Ministry. And all community is built from
relationships! As a peer leader, there are things you
can do to help form relationships that strengthen your
Youth Ministry community. And who knows, it might
just help in your other relationships, too!
YT 3 MINISTRY IS NOT AN INDIVIDUAL
SPORT
There are things in life that you need to do by yourself,
but ministry is NOT one of them. When Jesus sent the
disciples out on mission, he sent them two by two.
Many gifts are needed in ministry, and no one person
has all of them! This workshop will give you a chance to
try out some skills that will allow everyone to use their
gifts and make your Youth Ministry team more
effective.

1-01 HOW TO MAKE MINISTRY TO
20-30 SOMETHINGS WORK
There is a crisis in the Church particularly affecting
those in their 20s and 30s. This workshop will share
practical help and also focus on what the good news is
in spite of some of the challenging statistics for
parishes wanting to start, restart or jump start
ministry to those in their 20s and 30s.
Jason Coito is the Consultant for Young Adult Formation for the
Archdiocese of Los Angeles Office of Religious Education. He has
been ministering with high school and college students for 13 years
in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Jason, his wife Jen, and their two
children are parishioners at St. Julie Billiart in Newbury Park.

Come and learn some practical ways to strengthen
your relationship with and among your students to
increase attendance, participation and smiles.
Terry Cotting-Mogan is currently the Pflaum Publishing
Group's Western Regional Manager, Ms Cotting-Mogan has over
35 years in catechetical, campus, family, and youth/youth adult
ministries at the parish, school, and diocesan levels. She has
spoken at numerous events at diocesan and national levels. She
earned a BA from Marquette University, a MS from Cardinal
Stritch College, both of Milwaukee WI, and an Advanced Studies
Certificate in Youth Ministry Training from St Mary’s University,
Baltimore MD.

CHILDREN TO AN ENCOUNTER
WITH JESUS! THE CLASSROOM:
HOLY GROUND!
In this workshop we will creatively explore bringing
children to God in the Holy Ground of the classroom
by expanding lessons with games, videos, and activities
that are fun and hold the children’s interest and
attention. Prayerfully bring yourself and your children
to a deeper friendship with Jesus.
Eileen Fewless is the Director of Faith Formation at St.
Bernardine in Woodland Hills, a Master Catechist, and travels to
parishes giving catechetical talks for RCLBenziger.

OF A MERCIFUL PARISH
Since we have been celebrating a Jubilee Year of
Mercy, how has your parish/ministry been measuring
up to the call of Pope Francis? Let's look at some
practical ways to respond to that call.
Sr. Gretchen Hailer, RSHM is a life-long adult catechist. She
presents workshops and retreats on many topics and is the author
of 6 books.

LIFE-LONG
Life-long learning and a personal commitment to
catechesis in your parish inspires a deeper relationship
with Jesus Christ and His Church. This workshop will
discuss aspects of personal and communal prayer as it
relates to your ministry; ever growing in grace and
sharing the gift of faith for decades to come.
Warren G. Kunkle III is presently an educational consultant for
William H. Sadlier Inc. He is a Master Catechist and volunteers in
his parish as the High School Confirmation Parent Formation
Coordinator. He has also served as a Parish Administrator, Youth
Minister/Confirmation Coordinator and a variety of other
ministries over the past 25 years. With his wife, Elga and their three
teen-age sons, he has a broader understanding of the realities of our
“domestic” church and its unique challenges, will be forefront in this
presentation.

CATHOLIC WOMAN: VALUE OF
SMALL FAITH GROUP SHARING
Often times the church teaching and lives of the saints
seem so distant and dry to the woman in the pew. What
if we could change that? Organizations like Endow are
bringing women together in small, intimate groups,
breaching topics and challenges many have never been
exposed to in a digestible, relatable way. Come listen to
how these small group studies have changed parishes,
homes, careers, and families – and how you and your
parish can benefit from their growth.

Katherine Meeks has been running the satellite office in the
Diocese of L.A. since 2014. Katherine attended DePauw University
where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Conflict Studies with a
concentration in Public Health. Katherine has worked in women’s
prisons in Peru, researched forced eugenic procedures in South
Africa, worked with the Archdiocese of Chicago on the city’s south
side and among indigenous populations in the United States.
Through her background in non-profit development and
international experience, Katherine has witnessed the reality of
women in many corners of the world, bringing a unique perspective
to our mission with Catholic women at Endow.

CHURCH
TEACHINGS ON HOMOSEXUALITY
IN THE YEAR OF MERCY
Since the beginning of his papacy, Pope Francis has
reached out to people on the margins of our Church,
including Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender
Catholics. In this Jubilee Year of Mercy, with its theme
of “revolution of tenderness,” we will explore where
Church Teachings meet reality for LGBT Catholics,
especially for those in long term relationships who
have children. Can the journeys of Gay and Lesbian
people help broaden the Catholic concept of human
sexuality and what it means to be a family?
The Catholic Ministry with Lesbian and Gay Persons
(CMLGP), formerly called the Ministry with Lesbian and Gay
Catholics, was called into existence during a sermon given in
February, 1986 by Archbishop Roger Mahony, then in office only a
few months, who called for lesbians and gays to join together,
supporting each other on their faith journey. Our mission: We
believe that baptism empowers all persons to live a full, Catholic life
in union with all members of the Church. We provide a safe and
welcoming environment for lesbian and gay persons, their friends
and family, through liturgy, outreach, education, and fellowship.

GREYS! SEE WHAT
THEY CAN DO FOR YOUR PARISH!
Your parish is filled with “Amazing Greys”! Watch the
Holy Spirit bless your community with a Ministry not
“for” Seniors, but “by” Seniors. God gives us the
elderly, a mostly untapped source of His love, so open
your arms and include them. Active senior
parishioners are wise, spirit-filled, and they want to be
useful to God and to your parish.
Bill Rider was one of the world's first computer programmers at
IBM. At age 93, he has loving served our Church his entire life, with
much more love and joy to give.
Mary Stemmer is 87 and lets the Holy Spirit guide her life,
especially in the Pro Sanctity Movement. Her greatest joy is
bringing people closer to God.
Tom Nolan is a “revert” coming back to the Church in his late 20’s
in an Alaskan cabin. Another conversion came 20 years ago on his
Cursillo Weekend.
1-09 ANTI-DEATH PENALTY PROLIFE
CHURCH POSITION: IT’S ALL
ABOUT OUR IMAGE OF GOD--THE
GOD OF MERCY
During this Year of Mercy, we are asked to live and
teach God's Mercy. Based on Jesus' Beatitudes,
Matthew 5 and Jesus’ vision of the Kingdom (Matthew
25) we will explore ways to teach God's Mercy based
on our IMAGE OF GOD. The Anti-death penalty
global movement is based on various reasons such as
racism, innocence, geography, and money. But our
faith demand's us to see this as a pro-life, consistent
with life, and a respect life understanding of living the
Gospel of Jesus.
Fr. Christopher Ponnet was ordained for the Los Angeles
Archdiocese in 1983, Fr. Ponnet is Pastor and chaplain at St.
Camilus Center for Spiritual Care. He also serves as Director of
Office of Catholic HIV/AIDS Ministry, Board of Death Penalty
Focus, Pax Christi Southern California, Angel Interfaith Network,
Catholic Ministry with Gay and Lesbian Persons and Interfaith
Communities United for Justice and Peace.
1-10 FIRE IN THE HEART: FAN THE
FLAME
The session will reflect on the challenges offered in 2
Timothy 1: 6-8. “Fan into flame the gift that God gave
to you.” All involved in catechetical ministry are called
to release a new surge of energy, focus on the Gospel's
ability to change lives and help build transformative
communities of faith in our schools and parish
communities.
Sr. Edith Prendergast is the Former Director of Religious
Education for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. She holds a Doctorate
in Ministry from Claremont School of Theology, and a Master's
Degree in Theology from Boston College. She is a frequent speaker
nationally and locally and has contributed to several articles on
Spiritually and Catechesis. She is the author of "Grace Abounds" and
in Sept. 2015 received the “Evangelii Gaudium - Joy of the Gospel”
award at the 75th Anniversary of St. John's Seminary.

If this is your prayer, then this is a workshop for you!
Together we'll pray, sing, get new craft ideas and
explore ways to engage the children in our care.
Kathy Ritza is currently the Director of Faith Formation at St.
Denis Church in Diamond Bar, CA. She has over 25 years of
experience in catechesis as a parent, grandparent, catechist, DRE,
retreat director and Master Catechist for the Archdiocese of LA. She
is currently a consultant for RCLBenziger.

LIVING LENT THROUGH LIVELY
LESSONS
Use the Lenten season to lead your children to a
deeper practice of their faith. This workshop will
provide you with hands on ideas to make this Lenten
season a meaningful one. Preparing meaningful
lessons takes time. When the Lenten season arrives,
you will be so pleased that you have all your
preparations already in place.
Helen Marie Slaton is a Master Catechist, serving in ministry at
Our Lady of Malibu parish. Marie has taught Elementary, High
School and college classes. She has worked as a Director of
Religious Education, Adult Faith Formation Coordinator, and
served on an RCIA team. She has a BS from ISU and an MA from
the University of Evansville.

THE OLD TESTAMENT: WRESTLING
WITH TROUBLING VERSES
It is perfectly normal in Christian life to feel
responsible and even answerable to "Scripture" in our
Christian lives, but what about some of those deeply
troubling passages, especially in the Old Testament?
Is there a way to raise questions without dismissing
the Old Testament completely...hoping it will change
while we aren't looking? Is there a way to answer
fundamentalist insistence that "its all literal", while
maintaining a deep engagement with the whole Bible?
Come explore some ways to stop worrying and learn to
love the Old Testament!

Dr. Daniel L. Smith-Christopher has taught Old Testament at
Loyola Marymount University for 27 years. Author of many books
and articles, he has a particular interest in cross-cultural
interpretation of Scripture, and issues of Scripture, Social Justice,
and Peacemaking. At present, Dr. Christopher serves as Director of
Graduate Studies in Theology at LMU, and would love to talk to
anyone about Graduate Work in Theology at LMU!

We will offer a process (a family tool kit and support
system) to help guide families in balancing life and
faith.
Suzette Sornborger is Director of Youth Faith Formation at St.
Monica Catholic Community. She graduated from LMU with a BA
in Dance with an emphasis in sacred movement. She also has a MA

in Our Lady of the Angels Pastoral Region. She currently serves on
the Advisory Board of the theology Department for Graduate
students at LMU. She brings 25+ years of experience in ministry,
but her heart is in building strong catholic families across the ages.

HOLY WEEK AND THE ELECT
The events of Holy Week are central to us being
formed and transformed into the People of God. These
days, especially the Triduum, will have an impact on
our Elect as they join us for these special celebrations.
This will be an opportunity for us to look at each day of

Fr. Richard Vega currently serves as pastor of St. Frances of
Rome in Azusa and is chair of the Liturgical Commission for the
Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He has been a presenter for the
Archdioceses of Los Angeles and Chicago in Liturgy and Catechesis.
Fr. Vega in addition to his service at the archdiocesan and parish
level has also served the Church at the national level with service to
North American FORUM on the Catechumenate and the National
Federation of Priests' Councils.

In this highly moving session, Deacon Michael
Bellinder will present the true account of his
Encounters with Evil and his responses to it. He

mission to encourage people of all ages to lead lives of
compassion, forgiveness and mercy. After all, this was
one of Christ’s major themes throughout His life. Only

A catechist is someone who can ignite a “spark” of faith
in others, not so much by the content he or she
teaches, but by the example and witness he or she is in

teach and be a witness in the classroom. John will
provide a wealth of practical and creative ideas,
strategies, and management tips for the faith

John Collins is a retired elementary school principal, former
Director of Curriculum and Professional Development and
elementary school teacher. He is also a former DRE and catechist.
John has worked with Sadlier in the northeast for many years, and
is now a full-time National Religion Consultant with Sadlier. He is a
keynote speaker and workshop presenter. John has experience both
as a professional educator and a catechetical leader.
2-03 WHO IS THIS NEW SAINT
MOTHER TERESA?
Saint Mother Teresa, who will be canonized on
September 4, 2016, is perhaps the most renowned
saint of the last century. Her selfless example of love
for the poor reflects for us the great merciful acts of
Christ in the ordinary, the routine of everyday life and
of the human experience. In this workshop we will
remember her life by sharing stories and pictures of
my personal interactions with Mother Teresa over five
years of working in Kolkata. These stories include the
day she received the Nobel Peace Prize in November of
1979 and when she told me, “sometimes it pays to be
Mother Teresa.” Her example continues to inspire and
challenge us to a life of service and compassion for the
least among us. Let’s celebrate her together!
Jim DeHarpporte is the Regional Director for Catholic Relief
Services in the Western United States, based in San Diego. He began
his international career as a teacher in a Catholic mission in
Malaysia. For nearly 30 years he served with CRS in Africa and
Asia, including 5 years in Kolkata where he frequently interacted
with Mother Teresa. Jim lives in San Diego with his wife,
Scholastica, a native of Malaysia. They have three children and
three grandchildren.

catechists affirm what families already do and offer
ways to support and encourage growth of faith both
within the home and beyond it. In this workshop we
will look at each of the six tasks of catechesis as
experienced in the home and identify ways in which
catechists can provide support and resources to
parents. The process is interactive, allowing
participants to apply the presentation to their own
lives and ministry.
Kathy Hendricks is a national religion consultant for William H.
Sadlier and a contributing writer for their programs. She also
authors the weekly blog, We Believe and Share. Kathy has extensive
experience in catechetical and pastoral ministry and offers talks
and retreats across the country and overseas on topics of
catechesis, spirituality, and family.

service hours and service projects and how we can

Sergio Lopez is a former youth minister and worship leader from
the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. From early on in his ministry he
made it his mission to inspire parish Catholics to serve Christ in the
poor and powerless. Since 2014, Sergio has worked for Catholic
Relief Services which is the official international humanitarian
agency of the Catholic community in the United States. Sergio has
travelled overseas with CRS to El Salvador and Guatemala. He
holds an MA in Religious Studies from Mount St. Mary’s University
in Los Angeles and is pursuing a MA in Organizational Leadership
from Gonzaga University.

2-13 RCIA ADAPTED FOR CHILDREN

THE RITES
Celebrating the rituals and sacraments of initiation
with children of catechetical age can be a complicated
process. This workshop will present the RCIA adapted
for Children as a rich opportunity to blend catechesis,
liturgy, and evangelization. Practical advice will be
given to those parishes who find themselves struggling
to implement the vision of the often-misunderstood
subset of Christian Initiation.
Michael Ruzicki serves as Editor and Liturgical Training
Consultant for Liturgy Training Publications and the Director of
Music for Notre Dame de Chicago Parish. In addition to having
served as a team member of the North American Forum on the
Catechumenate, Michael has experience as a parish pastoral
associate and archdiocesan coordinator of adult faith formation
and RCIA and director of archdiocesan music ministry. He is a
graduate of The Catholic University of America and the
Washington Theological Union in Washington, DC.

Joan Patano Vos started working at her first parish at St. Mel in
Woodland Hills. She has a Master of Arts in Liturgical Music at the
University of Notre Dame. After graduating, she worked in Toronto
at various parishes and on the Diocesan Music Commission;
established and managed the Office of Worship in Wichita, Kansas;
wrote and published “Celebrating School Liturgies: Guidelines for
Planning,” published by Liturgical Press in 1990. Since returning to
Los Angeles in 1992, she has worked in various parishes. Joan was
also a member of Cardinal Mahoney’s Committee for the writing of
“Gather Faithfully Together”. She currently works in the Office for
Worship of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles as Associate Director for
Formation.

3-01 ARE YOU A DISCIPLE?
Just because you are a catechist, it doesn't mean you
are a disciple! Shocking words! After years of study
and research, Sherry Weddell describes the process of
conversion and true discipleship in her book "Forming
Intentional Disciples." This workshop will explore the
thought provoking concepts from this research. In
light of the New Evangelization, come and discern
where you are in your spiritual journey and how you
can lead others (children, families, and friends) into a
deeper relationship with Jesus.
Cristina Alba is the Director of Religious Education at St. John
Vianney in Hacienda Heights as well as a Master Catechist. A
wife and mother of two young children, she is passionate about
family religious formation. Over the past 11 years, she has
developed a successful Family Catechesis program at her parish.
She also serves as a Young Adult Ministry Coordinator and
Loyola Press Ministry Consultant.
3-02 APPRENTICESHIP AS A MODEL
FOR SERVICE IN CONFIRMATION
FORMATION
The National Directory for Catechesis mentions
learning by apprenticeship as one of the important
elements in good catechesis. This workshop will look at
apprenticeship as a model for service in Confirmation
formation and as a method for better initiating young
people into their local faith community.
Jared Anderson currently serves as Director of Confirmation
and Youth Ministries at St. Bernard Church in Bellflower. He
brings a unique style to his ministry, having been formed by the
Carmelite Sisters, the Salesians, and Black Catholic Tradition.
For the last 14 years, he has designed, assisted with, and led
retreats, Comprehensive Youth & Young Adult ministries, Faith
Formation programs, and workshops on Black Catholic
Spirituality.
3-03 TECHNIQUES TO REDUCE
INCIDENTS OF BULLYING IN THE
CLASSROOM AND HOME
Using the “Prayer of St. Francis,” this presentation
offers practical tools and techniques to help teachers
deal with bulling and disruptive behavior in the
classroom. We look at bullying in both educational and
family settings, from cognitive, neuropsychological,
developmental and clinical viewpoints. Participants will
learn how to become “instruments of peace” by using
interventions to effectively reduce the episodes of

SCRIPTURE

then do we understand sacred writings that were
composed in a time, place and language so different
from our own? Bring your Bible and join Timothy
Crehan as he presents seven key concepts that will
improve your understanding of both the Old and New
Testaments.
Timothy Crehan has a master's degree in theology and, before he
began his teaching career, worked in documentary television
production for shows that have aired on various cable networks,
including the History Channel. He currently serves as an official
reader for the HUMANITAS Prize, honoring film and television
writers who both entertain and inspire. Mostly recently, Timothy
spoke at San Diego State University's Annual Writers' Conference on
the importance of theological research in religious character
development. He now teaches full-time in the Theology department
at Immaculate Heart High School in Los Angeles.

In this workshop, catechists will have the opportunity
to nurture their vocation as catechist and discover the
essentials for their spiritual journey through prayer,
art and music.
Lillian Cruces has been involved in Religious Education since
1977. She is a long time Catechist and has taught 5th grade and
coordinated Religious activities in the Los Angeles area Catholic
schools. She is currently the Coordinator of Elementary Catechesis
at St. Mary's Church in Whittier.
3-06 TECHNIQUES AND METHODS FOR
WORKING WITH CHILDREN WITH
AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS
This course is designed to provide an introductory
level of information regarding autism spectrum
disorders, common characteristics, and behavioral
functioning. Discussions will include practical
techniques and behavioral management skills used to
support these students in our religious education
classes. Techniques focused upon will center around
social stories, behavioral support strategies, contract
based motivational systems, and strategies for the
reduction of anxiety through the use of visual
schedules.
Giorgia Diomedes is currently working as an assistant principal
for Los Angeles Unified School District supervising special
education at three elementary school sites. She has worked for
nearly 18 years supporting teachers and paraprofessionals develop
appropriate and helpful strategies for working with students with
developmental and learning disabilities as well as other behavioral
or physical difficulties. She is a Behavior Intervention Case
Manager and has her Master’s degree in Special Education. She has
developed a three-session Special Needs course for the
improvement of delivery of services and education to catechumens
with different abilities and needs.
3-07 HOW A SCIENTIST VIEWS
RELIGION, GOD, AND BELIEF
Rabbi Lotker discusses how his religious faith is
informed and strengthened by his scientific training
and 30 year career as a physicist. He will discuss the
evidence for God’s existence, the truth of the Bible, the
question of how a good and loving God can allow evil
and tragedy in the world and the question of why be
religious.

3-08 PERSONALITY AS A TOOL FOR
PERSONAL GROWTH
Through integrating faith and psychology, this
workshop will explore how understanding our
personality can help us in our relationships with others
and in creating a life that honors God’s purpose for us.
This workshop will take participants through a simple
personality assessment based on the Myers-Briggs Type
Inventory. Using this information, we will explore how
personality impacts our lives and relationships in the
areas of communication, decision making, stress
management and sense of well-being. Resources will be
provided to help build on the information discussed in
the workshop.
Veronica Marchese, Ph.D. is a Licensed Marriage and Family
Therapist in Ventura County with 12 years in clinical
practice. Veronica’s educational background includes a B.A. in
Psychology, a M.A. in Counseling, and a Ph.D. in Depth Psychology
with an emphasis in Somatics. Veronica offers online courses

Kay Murdy has a Master's Degree in Religious Studies from
Mount St. Mary's College, and is a Master Catechist for the Los
Angeles Archdiocese. Kay is the founder and member of the teaching
team of the Catholic Bible Institute co-sponsored by the Archdiocese
Office of Religious Education and Loyola Marymount University.
Kay has written five books on scripture and spirituality for Liturgy
Training Publications, and one for Ligouri Publications. Her novel,
Song of the Dove, a story of Mary of Nazareth, was published by

Are you interested in leading people to Christ? Why
are some people more effective in this area than
others? God chooses the F.A.T. to lead His people. As
servants of The Lord, we need to be Faithful to God,
Available to God, and always Teachable. Failing to do
so means we will be in danger of leading others astray.
A great problem in our parishes is that oftentimes we
represent ourselves rather than Christ. If we want to
lead the people of God, we need to remember Whom
we are representing. I must decrease that He may

3-12 LEGEND OR LORD?: THE DIVINITY
OF JESUS IN THE GOSPELS
The content of the Christian message is the person of
Jesus Christ. Our mission to evangelize, therefore,
hinges on his identity. Many see him as nothing more
than a great teacher or wonder-worker, but Jesus
claims to be the very presence of God among us. These
claims are either legendary, or he is who he says he is:
the Lord himself. Come walk through Jesus's divine
claims in each of the four Gospels.
Fr. Parker Sandoval is a priest of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles;
he is associate pastor of Resurrection Church in Boyle Heights. Fr.
Parker is a regular speaker on Evangelization, the Scriptures, and
the Liturgy.

In order to become good catechists in our Church
today (especially as we know it in Los Angeles) we have
to cultivate more than just good intentions and lots of
enthusiasm. A good catechist is committed to further
her/his skills and abilities with the use of many and
different teaching resources that will enable her/him
to effectively pass on the message of faith in new and
attractive ways to the children they minister to. In the
course of this workshop we will learn about different
classroom methodologies and how to apply and use
them in our catechetical sessions.

Douglas E. Zúñiga graduated from the Fashion Institute of
Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles as a graphic
designer. In 2016 he graduated from St. John’s Seminary in
Camarillo with a MA degree in Pastoral Ministry. Douglas is a
Master Catechist for the archdiocese of Los Angeles. He collaborates
with the Elementary Division in the areas of catechist formation and
liturgical workshops in both English & Spanish. He was Coordinator
of Religious Education at Holy Rosary Parish in Sun Valley, where
he is also a member of a small Christian faith community and is
currently a choir director. Previous experience includes catechesis
with children and adults, parent/children sacramental prep
retreats, as well as catechist formation in both basic and advanced
levels in the archdiocese.
FOR CATECHESIS AT HOME
Both the NDC and the Catechism call for parishes to
strengthen family catechesis. Parents need concrete
and easy to follow ways to be able to carry out their
role as the primary catechists of their children. This
workshop will review five quick and easy tips for
helping families with their role. Hands on concrete
ideas will be discussed during this presentation.
Victor Valenzuela is a National Religion Consultant for Bilingual
Resources for William H. Sadlier, Inc. He has presented workshops
to numerous groups both regionally and nationally. Victor has been
in ministry for 20 years including classroom teaching, youth
ministry, teacher training, and writing and development of new
materials. He has a Bachelor of Arts from St. Joseph Seminary in
Menlo Park, CA and a Masters of Arts from the University of San
Francisco. Born in Arizona to parents of Mexican descent, he is fully
bilingual and bicultural.

Fr. Chris Bazyourous nació y creció en el Valle de San Gabriel.
Entró al Seminario de San Juan después de haber recibido una
licenciatura en Química. Fue ordenado en 2003, actualmente sirve a
la arquidiócesis como Director de la oficina de Educación Religiosa.
También sirve en la Comisión Litúrgica Arquidiocesana.

Fr. Mariano de Blas L.C. es un sacerdote Legionario de Cristo.
Realizó sus estudios primarios en Ontaneda, Santander. Terminó
Humanidades Clásicas en Salamanca, España y estudió Filosofía y
Teología en la Universidad Pontificia Gregoriana de Roma, donde
obtuvo el grado de Licenciatura en Filosofía. Ha desarrollado una
intensa actividad de formación de jóvenes y matrimonios como
Director del CEYCA y del Instituto Cumbres, en la ciudad de
México. Dirigió un Centro Empresarial de Superación Personal y
fue asesor de valores en el Instituto Andes, de San Luis Potosí,
donde dirigió un centro de Formación Familiar. Actualmente
radica en Los Ángeles, California, colaborando en la estación
Guadalupe Radio y en televisión, con el programa "La Alegría de
Vivir.” Es un experto en los medios de comunicación social.

PROBLEMA DE TODOS
La Trata de Personas es la segunda empresa ilegal mas
grande y de mas rápido crecimiento en Los Estados
Unidos. Existen de 100,000 a 300,000 niños victimas
del trafico humano en este país...Pero ¿Qué podemos
hacer? ¿Cómo podemos ayudar? ¿Cómo podemos
proteger a los niños de nuestra comunidad? Este taller
les educará como reconocer la trata y como nosotros
podemos acabar con ella.
Ana L. Gomez es Maestra de Catequistas de la Arquidiócesis de
Los Ángeles. Ella comenzó a trabajar en el campo de la trata de
personas hace más de cuatro años. Ella ha hablando acerca de la
trata humana en varias parroquias de Los Ángeles y del Condado de
Orange, y fue invitada como conferencista al simposio Escuela
Media Hammilton en Long Beach. Su objetivo es llevar conciencia y
educación a toda la comunidad Latina sobre cómo se puede luchar
contra la trata de personas y cómo pueden proteger a sus hijos de
este terrible crimen.

CAMINO DE SHIBASHI
Shibashi en Chino, significa 18 movimientos. Es una
forma de meditación que ayuda a generar calma y
armonía en la mente, cuerpo y espíritu a través de
ejercicios físicos suaves y a la vez, mejorar el flujo del
Qi (energía vital) dentro del cuerpo. Estar consciente
de como respiramos y movemos, poco de lo que
hacemos se queda como una reacción inconsciente. De
tal manera, podamos tener una paz interior que esta
centrada en Dios e interconectada con toda la vida y la
creación. Esta práctica Antigua del Oriente es eficaz y
fácil de aprender. Se puede hacer dentro y fuera, en un
ambiente tranquilo.
Sr. Marjorie Guingona, SAC es religiosa de las Hermanas del
Ángel de la Guarda. Ella tiene Maestría en Ministerio Pastoral con
especialidad de Espiritualidad y Retiros en la Facultad de Teología
de Loyola y una Maestría en Educación Religiosa en el Universitario
De La Salle en Filipinas. En este momento, esta trabajando en
Caridades Católicas de Los Angeles en la tarea de educara la gente
en una vida sana y activa a través de los programas de SNAP y
Calfresh.
1-26 RESPONDIENDO AL CLAMOR DEL
POBRE A TRAVÉS DEL
MINISTERIO DE CATEQUESIS
Las Escrituras y la enseñanza de la Iglesia nos dice que
el Señor escucha el clamor del pobre (Salmo 34). Por
más de 40 años, miles de parroquias en Estados
Unidos han escuchado y respondido al clamor del
pobre por medio de Catholic Relief Services y la
campaña de CRS Plato de Arroz. En este taller,
dialogaremos sobre como los catequistas, de varios
niveles de edad, pueden ayudar a crear comunidades
que construyen el Reino de Dios a través del amor a
Dios y al prójimo. Vengan a oír las historias de las
personas que son servidos por CRS en el extranjero. Se
les dará herramientas para ayudar a sus comunidades
a oír y responder el clamor del pobre por medio del
ministerio de catequesis.
Sergio Lopez fue ministro de pastoral juvenil en la Arquidiócesis
de Los Ángeles por más de siete años. Desde el principio de su
ministerio, Sergio se dedicó a inspirar a católicos a servir a Cristo
presente en el que sufre. En 2014, Sergio ingresó a Catholic Relief
Services que es oficialmente la agencia de asistencia internacional
humanitaria de la comunidad Católica en Estados Unidos. Su
trabajo con CRS lo ha llevado a El Salvador y a Guatemala. Sergio
tiene una Maestría en Estudios Religiosos de la universidad Mount
St. Mary’s University en Los Ángeles y está en el proceso de obtener
una Maestría en Liderazgo Organizacional de la Universidad
Gonzaga.

MISERICORDIA, ES UNA
OPORTUNIDAD DE RENOVAR
NUESTROS MINISTERIOS
La intención del Papa Francisco al invitar a toda la
Iglesia al Jubileo de la Misericordia es que todas las
personas y comunidades nos renovemos en la certeza
de que Dios es Misericordia y que esa misericordia la
tenemos que recibir y extender en la familia, en los
ministerios y en la sociedad. En este taller
compartiremos como se ha celebrado y que podemos
hacer para concluirlo con entusiasmo y alegría.
Dr. José Antonio Medina obtuvo su doctorado en teología por
la Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca en España. Es profesor en
diversos Institutos de formación superior de California y Nevada.
Ha escrito varios libros entre los que destacan "Diálogos Semanales
con Jesús" "Temas calientes para jóvenes cristianos" "Vivir el
presente, imaginar el futuro", "Con el corazón lleno de alegría",
entre otros. Actualmente es consultor para la Conferencia de
Obispos de California y Director de la Oficina de la Formación
Continua de los Sacerdotes de la Diócesis de San Bernardino.

Vamos a reunirnos para tener un encuentro con Jesús
en sus vidas de oración y de ministerio. Este encuentro
personal con Jesús es importante para que puedas

Obispo David O'Connell es originalmente de County Cork,
Irlanda. El estudió en el Colegio All Hallows en Dublin y fue
ordenado al sacerdocio en 1979 para la Arquidiócesis de Los
Angeles. Ha servido en varias parroquias entre Los Angeles, la
mayoría en Sur Centro de LA, y era recientemente Pastor de San
Frances X. Cabrini en Los Angeles. En Agosto de 2015, Obispo
O’Connell era elegido por el Papa Francisco a servir como un
Obispo Auxiliar para el Arquidiócesis de Los Angeles y fue
nombrado por el Arzobispo José Gómez para ser Vicario
Episcopal para la Región Pastoral de San Gabriel.

Francisco.
Fr. Ismael Robles es un Sacerdote Asociado sirviendo en la
Iglesia Católica de San Pio X en Santa Fe Springs, California. El es
el Director de Vocaciones en el Arquidiócesis de la Región Pastoral
de San Gabriel y Director de Espiritual de "Jóvenes Para Cristo" en
Los Angeles y de la Renovación Carismática en la Región Pastoral
de San Pedro. Para él, ser un sacerdote significa ser un instrumento
de la paz de Dios y ayudando personas a saber la realidad y amor
de Dios en sus vidas. Fr. Ismael acaba de terminar su tesis de
Maestría en Teología Espiritual. Está titulado: "The New
Evangelization and the Charisms of the Holy Spirit."

Jennifer Vargas-Stolper se graduó de la Universidad
Politécnica de California en Pomona con una especialización en
Dirección de Marketing. Ha sido Directora de Proyectos para
Fairplex en el departamento de entretenimiento y también una
coordinadora del programa Cesar E. Chávez Centro para la
Educación Superior en Cal Poly Pomona. Jennifer ha sido
catequista en la parroquia trabajando con los niños más pequeños
mientras se preparan para celebrar sus sacramentos. Formación
en la Fe corre en su familia. Ella enseñó en la parroquia donde su
madre era la Directora de Educación Religiosa.
Carmen Vargas tiene más de 20 años de experiencia como
Coordinadora de Educación Religiosa, tanto en el nivel primario y
de la confirmación. Ella es Maestra de Catequistas, un graduado
del Instituto Católico de la Biblia y en Ministro Pastoral.

En este taller analizaremos los mensajes de
espiritualidad y psicología del famoso "Calendario
Azteca" que en realidad debería llamarse Piedra Solar.
Al entender algunos de sus significados espirituales y
psicológicos, entenderemos más el mensaje
guadalupano en la imagen estampada en la tilma de
San Juan Diego.
Ernesto Vega es el Coordinador del Ministerio de Formación de Fe
para Adultos de Habla Hispana de la Arquidiócesis de Los Ángeles.
Obtuvo una licenciatura en filosofía y literatura española del St
John’s Seminary College escribiendo su tesis sobre la Lectura
simbólica de la imagen de la Virgen de Guadalupe. Estudió
pedagogía en CSULA y también obtuvo una maestría en
Psicoterapia Familiar y de Parejas de la Universidad de Loyola
Marymount (LMU) escribiendo su tesis sobre las Familias
Inmigrantes Mexicanas en Psicoterapia. Él está en el proceso de
obtener una maestría en teología pastoral concentrada en dirección
espiritual en LMU. Ernesto tiene una pasión por las artes, la
sicología y la espiritualidad.

La familia es el lugar donde se engendra y se cuida la
vida. En la sociedad actual la vida don de Dios es
despreciada y aniquilada. Desde el principio Dios
pensó en la familia como escuela del aprendizaje del
amor y la solidaridad. En éste taller cuestionaremos
nuestro compromiso cristiano frente a los peligros que
quieren destruir el santuario de la familia en nuestra
sociedad, tomando algunas reflexiones del Papa
Francisco.
Beatriz Yepes es licenciada en Sagrada Escritura. Tiene un grado
en Maestra en Teología Bíblica. Ha propagado los estudios bíblicos
a lo largo de 22 años en la Arquidiócesis de Medellín, Colombia,
Diócesis de Orange y Arquidiócesis de Los Ángeles.

¿SI O NO?
¿En tu ministerio todo lo puedes, todo lo haces, a todo
le dices que si? Como ministros podemos fácilmente
caer en la trampa del “todo lo puedo”. Esto pronto nos
lleva al agotamiento no solo físico sino también
mental, emocional y espiritual. Es esencial tomar
tiempo para el autocuidado y así hacernos presente y
dar lo mejor de “mi”. Jesús mismo se daba tiempo para
cuidar de su persona, retirándose al monte para
descansar, estar en silencio y dialogar con su Padre.
¿Y tú? ¿Qué haces para cuidar de ti? En este taller
veremos más de cerca los síntomas del agotamiento,
pautas para trabajar en el ministerio de una manera
integral y el cuidado de nuestra persona, más técnicas
para la relajación.
Maria G. Arroyo actualmente trabaja con Catholic Relief Services
educación y formación en la solidaridad Global. Ella también es
instructora en el Instituto de pastoral en la diócesis de Orange y es
Directora espiritual que acompaña a laicos en su viaje espiritual y
facilitar retiros de silencio. Maria tiene una maestría en estudios
teológicos de Loyola Marymount University y una maestría en
Consejería Pastoral de la Universidad de San Diego.

Jennifer Ayon ha servido como Catequista de Educación
Religiosa por 15 años primero con niños y después como
instructora de Confirmación. Jennifer recibió una Maestría de
Ciencias en Consejería y un Bachillerato de Ciencias en Servicios de
Rehabilitación; su énfasis es en ayudar a personas con
discapacidades a lograr sus metas personales, sociales y
vocacionales. Actualmente ella es una Maestra Catequista para la
Arquidiócesis de Los Angeles, trabaja sirviendo a su comunidad y
es una educadora bilingüe en el campo de la Justicia Social
Católica.

Organizaciones como Endow están uniendo a las
mujeres en pequeños grupos y están hablando de temas
y retos. Ven y escucha como los estudios de los grupos
pequeños han cambiado a las parroquias, hogares,
carreras y familias - y como usted y su parroquia
pueden beneficiarse de su crecimiento.
Sair Del Toro se trasladó a Los Angeles hace dos años para
trabajar con familias y madres solteras de diferentes parroquias en
la Arquidiócesis de Los Angeles promoviendo y enseñando Teología
del Cuerpo por San Juan Pablo II. Ella tuvo gran éxito ayudando a
las familias a vivir con autenticidad la fe Católica. Ella se unió con el
equipo de Endow en el verano de 2015. Ella es apasionada a ayudar
a las mujeres para que comprendan su parte como mujeres y en la
creación de una cultura de la vida.

David Lara es Coordinador Regional en la Arquidiócesis de Los
Ángeles. Antes, el trabajó por más de veinte años en tres
parroquias. David, estudió en la Universidad Estatal de Northridge,
Universidad de Loyola y el Seminario de San Juan. Él fue miembro
de la Comisión Litúrgica de la Arquidiócesis de Los Ángeles; del
Equipo de Directores del Instituto de Liderazgo Cristiano y del
Comité de la Junta Consultiva para Catequesis en español de RCL
Benziger.

En este taller no solo veremos las consecuencias de las
decisiones tomadas en cuanto al sexo, tanto por los
jóvenes como los padres, sino que también veremos
maneras en las que podemos educar a los estudiantes a

formar un carácter moral adecuado a las enseñanzas
de nuestra Iglesia.
Maria Elena Lara tiene más de 20 años de experiencia en la
pastoral juvenil. Ella es conferencista a nivel Diocesano y
nacional. Como miembro del Instituto Fe y Vida ha presentado
en diferentes diócesis de los Estados Unidos temas en áreas de
liderazgo y Pastoral Juvenil. Actualmente trabaja en la
parroquia de San Patricio en North Hollywood como
coordinadora de la Confirmación y LifeTeen.
2-26 EL CUIDADO PASTORAL DE LA
FAMILIA
El taller presentará la visión pastoral del cuidado de las
familias en nuestras comunidades. Tocando los puntos
principales de la enseñanza de la Iglesia desde el
Concilio Vaticano II hasta el Papa Francisco. La
unidad en la enseñanza pastoral para nuestras familias
es una realidad amorosa y constante en la enseñanza
de el Papa Juan Pablo II, del Papa Benedicto XVI y del
Papa Francisco. La realidad de las familias es diversa
pero la enseñanza de la Iglesia es la misma enseñanza
de Jesús a seguir construyendo el Reino de Dios para
traer salvación al mundo.
Flor de María Luna es Directora de Educación Religiosa en la
Iglesia Santa Maria en Palmdale, California. Tiene los siguientes
estudios: Profesorado en teología de la Universidad Francisco
Marroquin-Guatemala, Certificado de Ministerio Hispano del
Colegio Mount Saint Mary’s in LA. Es Maestra de Catequistas en

EN LOS EVANGELIOS
Los evangelios fueron puestos por escrito después de
muchos años de la muerte de Jesús. Vamos, en éste
taller, a recorrer juntos el mensaje de Jesús de
acuerdo a los diferentes evangelistas, ya que, con el
deseo de llevar la buena noticia a todos los pueblos, re
-interpretan Su mensaje para aplicarlo a la realidad
de las nuevas comunidades cristianas. ¿Cuál es el
mensaje de Jesús para nosotros hoy?
Cesar Padilla es originario de El Salvador. Graduado en
Ingeniería Agronómica en la Universidad Nacional del Noroeste,
Argentina. Estudios Avanzados de Biblia, Catequesis, y Liturgia
Avanzada. Actualmente colabora con la Arquidiócesis de los
Ángeles impartiendo Cursos Básicos de Catequesis en la Formación
de Maestros de Catequistas. Además trabaja en diversos
ministerios en la Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Valle, Canoga
Park.

F.E.O.S PUESTO QUE ¡ELLOS
GUIARAN AL PUEBLO DE DIOS!
¿Está interesado en guiar a la gente hacia Jesucristo?
¿Por qué algunas personas son más eficaces que otros
en esta área? Dios elige a los F.E.O. s para que guíen a
su pueblo. Como siervos del Señor, tenemos que ser
Fieles a Dios, siempre Enseñables y Obsequiosos con
nuestro tiempo hacia Dios. No hacerlo significa que
estaremos en peligro de guiar a otros erróneamente.
En nuestras parroquias, un problema grande es el de
que muchas veces nos representamos a nosotros
mismos en lugar de representar a Jesucristo. Si
queremos guiar al pueblo de Dios, tenemos que
recordar a quién estamos representando. ¡Yo debo
disminuir para que Él pueda aumentar!
Eddie Pérez es de la ciudad de South El Monte, en el condado de

HOMOSEXUALIDAD EN EL AÑO
DE LA MISERICORDIA
Desde el comienzo de su papado, el Papa Francisco ha
salido en busca de las personas en los márgenes de
nuestra Iglesia incluyendo a las Personas Lesbianas,
Gay, Bisexual y Transgenero (Católicos LGBT). En éste
Jubileo de la Misericordia, con su tema de la
"revolución de la ternura", exploraremos en qué punto
las enseñanzas de la Iglesia se intersectan con la
realidad de los Católicos LGBT, especialmente para
aquellos que están en una relación de por vida y que
tienen hijos. ¿Pueden las trayectorias de Católicos Gay
y Lesbianas ayudarnos a refinar nuestra visión sobre la
sexualidad humana y lo que significa ser familia?
Yunuen Trujillo ha trabajado por 10 años con grupos de jóvenes
adultos. Como parte del Equipo Arquidiócesano de Pastoral Juvenil,
ha sido conferencista y coordinadora regional, también conductora
de radio con “PJLA Radio-TV” (Pastoral Juvenil de la Arquidiócesis
de Los Ángeles, California) y editora de PJLA noticia en línea. Su
especialidad en el ministerio es justicia social y Doctrina Social de la
Iglesia. Actualmente forma parte del grupo, “Siempre Serán
Nuestros Hijos,” grupo de apoyo para padres y familiares de
católicos LGBT, y el Ministerio Católico con Personas Gay y
Lesbianas (CMLGP), ministerio arquidiócesano.

Y
LOS
Los acontecimientos de la Semana Santa son
fundamentales para nosotros que somos formados y
transformados al Pueblo de Dios. En estos días, sobre
todo los del Triduo, tendrán un impacto en nuestra
Elegidos, que se unen con nosotros para estas
celebraciones. El taller será oportunidad para ver cada
día de la semana y cómo el ritual impacta a los que
esperan incorporarse a la familia de Dios.
Fr. Richard Vega es Pastor de Santa Francisca de Roma en
Azusa, California. El ha sido un presentador para la Arquidiócesis
de Los Ángeles y Chicago en Liturgia y Catequesis. El Padre Vega
además de su servicio a nivel Arquidiocesano y parroquial, ha
servido a la Iglesia a nivel nacional en el "North American FORUM"
en catecumenado y en el "Concilio Nacional de la Federación para
Sacerdotes".

Experimenta en éste Taller como ser Sal en mundo
donde hemos perdido todo, el sabor de sentir la
presencia viva de Jesús; Donde Tú y Yo somos Luz
para acompañar a los que abrumados por las
oscuridades, vivimos como si Dios no existe.
Estás llamado a ser portador de la Buena Nueva de
Jesús. (Doc., Aparecida Cap. 3 y Laudato Si #2 ss)
Sr. Luz Dari Villera es Religiosa de la Comunidad Hermanitas de
la Anunciación. Trabaja en la Parroquia St. Michael de Los Angeles
como Directora de Educación Religiosa. Coordina el programa de
Confirmación. También ayuda a otros ministerios dentro de E.U.A.,
y fuera del País, con retiros y pláticas para diferentes audiencias.
En su País hizo sus estudios de Misionología y Antropología con
Énfasis en Sociales, en la Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana. Fue
Maestra de Escuelas Secundarias. Ha participado en los Congresos
De Educación Religiosa, en México, en otros congresos intensivos de
formación, cursos de pastoral, colabora en el equipo de
Especialización para la Confirmación en la Arquidiócesis de los
Angeles, y en el Básico.

3-20 LA MISERICORDIA DE DIOS EN LA
DIVERSIDAD CULTURAL DE
NUSTRA IGLESIA
La diversidad cultural es un tesoro que enriquece la
Iglesia en EEUU. Pero a veces esta es causa de
conflicto y división a nuestras parroquias. Nuestro
Dios por medio de la Encarnación nace dentro de esta
diversidad cultural de su tiempo utilizando sus
símbolos, procesos y tradiciones para proclamar la
misericordia del Reino de Dios. ¿Cómo es que Cristo
hoy en día se continúa manifestando en la cultura
moderna?
En éste taller examinaremos algunas
parábolas de Jesús viendo como utilizó la cultura para
proclamar el Reino de Dios, cómo la Iglesia entiende el
papel de la cultura, sus obras de misericordia en el
mundo diverso más algunas pautas para llevar a
nuestras parroquias y ser puentes de interculturación.

3-21 LA PENA DE MUERTE:
RESPONDIENDO AL LLAMADO A
SER MISERICORDIOSOS
Como Católicos somos llamados a proteger toda la
vida. El mandamiento "no matarás" es absoluto e igual
de válido para los culpables como para los inocentes.
Este taller repasará datos y cifras sobre la pena de
muerte, lo que piensa nuestra iglesia, y como podemos
responder al llamado a ser un oasis de misericordia.

ENSEÑAR COMO EL
San Pablo fue un gran evangelizador que nos ha dejado un
legado invaluable en sus escritos, los cuales nos son de gran
utilidad para llevar el mensaje de Jesús a nuestras clases
catequéticas.

ELEMENTO FUNDAMENTAL PARA
LIDIAR CON LAS ANGUSTIAS,
DIFICULTADES Y CRISIS DE LA
VIDA
Este tiene el objetivo de ayudar al participante a redescubrir la alegría, y el amor en el servicio y entrega a
los demás. Este taller, será una combinación de
Logoterapia (búsqueda de sentido) y enseñanzas de la
Iglesia, que ayudará al participante a encontrar sentido
a una vida marcada por la alegría del amor que ayuda a
enfrentar cualquier dificultad y crisis de la vida en las
diferentes áreas en las cuales la persona interactúa.

Dr. Marco Elias es el Director de la Oficina Diocesana para las
Transiciones en la Diócesis de San Bernardino. Tiene un doctorado
en Terapia familiar y de pareja que obtuvo en la Universidad Loma
Linda ( Loma Linda, California). Marco es terapeuta Familiar y de
Pareja, y actualmente ofrece terapia en Caridades Católicas. El
doctor Elias también tiene una Maestría en Teología obtenida en la
Facultad de Teología "Marianum" de Roma, Italia. Dr. Elias,
imparte la clase de Cross-Cultural Therapy en la Universidad de
Loma Linda, en California. También ofrece talleres y retiros a
grupos, ministerios y asociaciones.
3-24 LA MISERICORDIA Y EL PERDON
S.S. Francisco en un encuentro posterior a la misa
matutina y por estar como estamos todavía viviendo en
el año de la misericordia alguien le preguntó sobre
¿Cómo podemos relacionar el perdón y la
misericordia? a lo cual él respondió refiriéndose al
evangelio de San Mateo en el cual Pedro le pregunta a
Jesús ¿Cuántas veces debemos perdonar al hermano
que ha pecado en contra nuestra, y el Señor Jesús le
respondió setenta veces siete lo que significa
"siempre˝. Perdonar enfatiza el Santo Padre significa
abrir nuestros corazones para que la misericordia de
Dios llegue a nosotros con su muy deseado perdón.
Lourdes González-Rubio es la Coordinadora de Ministerios
Catequísticos Básicos y Avanzados en Español para la Oficina de
Educación Religiosa de nuestra Arquidiócesis desde 1991. Colaboró
con la Oficina para el Culto Divino, también de nuestra,
Arquidiócesis, dando entrenamiento a los ministros litúrgicos desde
1986, tiene treinta años de experiencia en la pastoral hispana. Ha
sido invitada a dar conferencias en las Diócesis de San Diego,
Fresno, Sacramento, San Bernardino y Oakland. Es autora de dos
libros de poesía y uno de reflexiones para la compañía Ligoure,
titulado “Entre Diosito y yo”.

RECUERDOS
Nuestra memoria es una herramienta que siempre nos
ayuda en las diferentes funciones de nuestro diario
vivir. Pero también nos ata a recuerdos que bloquean
nuestro crecimiento espiritual, debido a que aun no
han sanado en nuestro interior. En éste taller
presentaremos maneras de compartir nuestros
recuerdos con Cristo Nuestro Sanador. Te ayudará a
través de momentos de oración personal reviviendo
tus recuerdos con El, de manera que puedas
reconsiderar tu vida de una manera más
cristianamente madura. No temas a tus malos
recuerdos, pero tampoco cargues con ellos, el pasado,
pasado está, pero ¡solo Cristo te sanará! ¡Atrévete a
pedírselo y lo Recibirás!
Socorro Lagarda-Quiroz es Directora del Ministerio Hispano de
la Diócesis de Monterey, CA. Socorro ha contribuido como Asistente
Pastoral en la Parroquia de San Marcelino en City of Commerce,
como maestra en el Nivel Intermedio del Instituto de Pastoral y
Evangelización de la Arquidiócesis de Los Ángeles y también ha sido
Coordinadora General del Nivel Básico de dicho instituto.

documento y compartiremos recursos disponibles en
español para su estudio en la catequesis y en los otros
ministerios de la Iglesia.

¿Qué nos dicen los evangelios acerca de María, la
Madre de Jesús de Galilea? Veremos como María es la
Buena Nueva de la salvación que nos viene de
Jesucristo. Haremos un breve estudio de lo que de ella
se dice en el Nuevo Testamento. Además,
presentaremos lo que podemos aprender acerca de ella
de la tradición evangélica, y la importancia que la
Virgen María representa, en nuestro tiempo, para
Latinoamérica y Los Angeles.

3-28 ORACION+ORGANIZACIÓN=TU
MINISTERIO
En todo ministerio en el que servimos a Dios y a
nuestros hermanos, siempre existirá esta fórmula,
oración + organización = Catequista. La cual nos dice
que tenemos que ser organizados y apoyarnos siempre
en la oración. Ven y conoce metodologías, ideas
prácticas de cómo preparar y planificar tus sesiones de
catequesis y decir no más a la cultura de improvisación,
al como salga o al ahí se va.
Héctor Quiroz es director de la Escuela de Ministerio Pastoral
Laico, en inglés y español, patrocinada por los Oblatos de María
Inmaculada de la región de San Fernando. Asistente General y
maestro del Instituto de Pastoral y Evangelización de la
Arquidiócesis de Los Ángeles. Estudios de arquitectura en el IPN y
la UNAM en México y graduado del IPE y de la Maestría en
Estudios Religiosos de Mount Saint Mary's College. Estudiante de
la Maestría en Ministerio Pastoral en el Seminario de St. Juan en
Camarillo.

Reflexionaremos como experimentar desde nuestras
catequesis el abrazo amoroso y misericordioso de

que puedan ayudarnos en las catequesis para educar
en la Misericordia desde nuestros contextos y
realidades que vivimos, permitiéndonos tener la
experiencia de la Misericordia por que es fuente de

3-32 ¿Y DESPUÉS DEL AÑO DE LA
MISERICORDIA QUÉ?
¿Qué hemos experimentado éste Año de la
Misericordia? ¿Cómo continuaremos mostrando
Misericordia en la vida diaria y ministerial? Nuestro
Papa Francisco nos exhorta a ser discípulos misioneros
hoy, aquí y ahora. Nuestro llamado a ser
misericordiosos como Jesucristo quien guiado por el
Espíritu nos muestra el Amor Misericordioso de su
Padre. En éste taller hablaremos de cómo podemos
seguir siendo fieles a nuestro llamado recibido en
nuestro Bautismo.
Dn. Leonel Yoque es diácono permanente de la Arquidiócesis de
Los Ángeles asignado a la parroquia Holy Cross en Los Angeles.
Ejerce su ministerio como animador misionero con los Padres y
Hermanos Maryknoll. Leonel ha estado predicando, facilitando
talleres y retiros misioneros en diferentes diócesis y arquidiócesis de
Estados Unidos. Actualmente Leonel está cursando una Maestría en
Teología Pastoral en la Universidad Loyola Marymount en Los
Ángeles.
PARA NUESTRA JUVENTUD
Te has pensado en este año de Misericordia poder
instruir a jóvenes donde confrontan momentos
difíciles en su vida, donde no tener la información
apropriata serán marginados o rechazados; este taller
ayudara al catequista incorporar en su catequesis
temas controversial, como HIV/SIDA; Sexualidad
Humana y Noviazgos saludables.
Luis Manuel Torres es originario de Zacatecas, Mex; criado en
Tijuana, Baja California, Norte; 1972 emigro a los Estados Unidos,
estudiando en las escuelas publicas, ingreso a la Universidad
Xaveriana de Ohio; inició los estudios para la preparación de
sacerdocio con los Misioneros Combonianos del Corazón de Jesus;
regresando a Los Ángeles desde 1986 trabajando en la Oficina de
Educación Religiosa en el Ministerio de Jóvenes Adultos; miembro
activo de la Mesa Consultiva de Arquidiócesis de Los Angeles
Ministerios de VIH/Sida; Pastoral Juvenil; desde 2003 siendo
Administrador/Capellán con Interlink Home Health y Hospice;
desde 2008-St. Camillus Pastoral Center para Spiritual Care
proveyendo Servicios de Capellan para pacientes en LAC+USC
Medical Center en el Centro de Trauma.
3-30 MISTAGOGIA: ¿QUÉ ES Y QUÉ SE
HACE EN ESTA ETAPA?
¿Qué es exactamente lo que sucede en esta etapa y
cuánto tiempo dura éste proceso de la Mistagogia?
Muchos de nosotros en RICA no estamos muy seguros
del "contenido" de esta etapa del proceso formativo. El
taller será oportunidad para hablar de lo que ocurre en
el período de Mistagogia y cómo podemos ayudar a los
neófitos a reconocer que el aprendizaje es para el resto
de la vida para los discípulos de Jesús.
