Page 3 Church of the Nativity, Brockport, New York New Parishioners! We are glad you joined us.. Father Joe’s Week: Last Thursday Fr. McKenna was in D.C., and Fr. Forni in Corning, so I went to the YMCA. It was nice, except someone hit my car in the parking lot and drove away. It was probably a truck, considering the height of the ding, but there’s nothing to do. I asked inside, but no joy. I enjoyed the pool, though… Friday we had Mass and Adoration at noon. There is always a good number at Adoration, some all the way ‘till 2pm when we have Benediction. Why not join us one Friday?…Saturday I went to the Y in the morning, then made sure everything was set for a Quinceanera in the afternoon. This is a big family festival in the Hispanic Community—Fr. Jesus and Jorge did the work; I just poked my head in…After the 4:30 Mass I joined Mark and Judy Depferd at the Stoneyard for supper. I had a salmon salad—very good…Sunday I had three Masses, which I’m trying to avoid, but there was no way out of it. That afternoon I went to the Leone’s home in Gates for supper. Fr. Bill and his Mom welcomed me for Sunday supper, and I am grateful. We had Korean food cooked by a daughter-in-law. Wonderful, and I took some home for Monday’s supper…Monday our regional leaders met for lunch, and had a good meeting. That evening our Planning Committee met to discuss our next steps. We assigned tasks, and plan to have a needs assessment document ready to send to the diocese by the end of next month. This would enable us to get an initial go-ahead to begin specific plans to deal with our lack of space for ministry. We will keep you informed all the way along, as best we can. I hope you read the Pastoral Council’s report on the survey from last week’s bulletin…Tuesday afternoon we had Mass at Beikirch—always a great celebration. I anointed the whole congregation there, just like we did after Masses a couple of weeks ago here at Nativity. Thanks again to all the parishioners and staff who make the Mass so easy. After Mass, Joan McGuinn and I went to the Landing to look at their facilities for Mass. We will be doing Mass there monthly from now on. Fr. Mark from Holley had been doing that Mass for several years, but found that his schedule wouldn’t allow it any more. Thanks to him for helping us for so long. I look forward to celebrating that monthly Mass at the Landing, starting next week, June 30…Tuesday evening our Pastoral council met, beginning with a picnic. This was the last meeting for our retiring Council members and the first meeting for our new councilors. Our meeting was simple, but a good one. See you in September!...God bless and have a good week. Attention, Please The Village of Brockport is replacing storm sewers. Pease exit the parking lot with caution and courtesy! Thank you! Spend time in nature—enjoy God’s wonders! Do NOTHING else. -Walk along the beach or sit near the water. Take a hike. Watch a storm. Star gaze. -Observe the living creatures that co-habitate with us. Pray the rosary -Do it as a group while you are hiking. -Put it under your pillow & say it before you go to sleep. -Listen to it in the car or through earphones. Pray at 3:00 pm every day. -Say a novena or pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Pray Grace before meals no matter where you are! Celebrate the Feast of the Assumption—whether it is a holy day of obligation or not. Learn to pray the Liturgy of the Hours, also referred to as the Prayer of the Church. If you don’t know what they are—Google it! Use aspirations throughout the day and night—the shortest little prayers, offered up to God can be habit forming & help in times of need. -For example, say “Heart of Jesus, I put my trust in you.” Take a green scapular wherever you go. The front image is of the burning heart of Mary. -Say "Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death." -Our Lady will protect you, and aide in time of physical injury. In your hour of death, Our Lady will aide in spiritual conversion if necessary. Not only that, she will bring to you peace of mind anytime. Start using holy water and blessed salts—bless your home, your car, your family asking God’s blessing and protection. Learn Latin — at least a little—it is the official language of the Church. The Holy Father urges us all to learn our prayers in Latin, even young children. -Get an audiobook. -Consider taking a class at a college. Pray the Angelus or Hail Mary at 6 am, noon, 6 pm, and at midnight if you are awake! Volunteer—at a food shelf, clothing center or your church Vacation Bible School. Read good Catholic books—find the great works of the Saints and read the Holy Scripture. -Again, try an audiobook. Plant something—watch the wonder of God grow! Most of all, go to Mass every Sunday. -To find a Church where you are going to be traveling, go to www.seekandfind.com . June 21, 2015 Preparación para la Confirmación.
