Nativity welcomes new parishioners: Tami Bacon Brittany Maxon Patrick O’Hara Lucinda Searfoss Jay, Shauna & Jackson Thomas It’s Spring – Try Something New The Center is recruiting volunteers for their transportation program to take members of the community who cannot drive themselves to their medical appointments and on other “necessary errands.” Some of our neighbors no longer drive, or cannot drive for a time, and may need a ride to do these simple, but necessary things…like a stop at the pharmacy…a visit to the doctor…a trip to the grocery store. Volunteer drivers are the key to independence and safety for these folks. Can you help? If you have a couple of hours a week, or even a couple of hours a month, consider being a volunteer driver. You can select the days and times you wish to drive. You will be provided with training, and supplemental liability insurance. You may receive a discount on your automobile insurance. As you drive through life, take someone with you! To learn more about becoming a volunteer driver, call Sr. Anne Guerin at 244-8400, ext. 142, or email, [email protected] . Clothing Center Sign-Up for May Remember the fun we had in November at the Ecumenical Clothing Center—greeting new friends, sorting, hanging clothing…??? Well, we are doing it again in May. Please join us! New volunteers are always welcome. Sign-up on the board in the vestibule (by the front doors). For more information, please call Sharon Wheat at 637-5329. Church of the Nativity, Brockport, New York Page 3 Fr. Joe’s Week: Last Thursday, Frs. Forni, McKenna and I went to Applebee’s and then to see My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2. I hadn’t seen the first installment, and was not impressed with the sequel…Friday morning I went to East Rochester with a small group of guys who have a sports breakfast every once in a while. They are coaches and news people, and we just enjoy talking about sports. Fr. Bill Leone got me into the group and I enjoy it a lot…Friday afternoon our Ignatian group met at Joan McGuinn’s home. We also celebrated the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick in preparation for Joan’s surgery…On Sunday we baptized Elizabeth Jacqueline Curran at the 9 am Mass. Congratulations to her family on the great day…Monday after dealing with computer issues in the office, I went to Syracuse for spiritual direction and confession. I also enjoyed supper with the Jesuit community at LeMoyne…Tuesday noontime I went to Irondequoit for an appointment, then returned for a Liturgy Committee meeting. We reviewed Holy Week, beginning some thought about improvements for next year. Louise Pohl announced that she was stepping down as leader of the Contemporary Choir this June. She has a letter in today’s bulletin about the change. All of us owe her a debt of thanks for all she has done to enhance our worship. I’m sure we will do something to mark the change. In addition, we are planning a volunteer appreciation brunch on a Sunday next month. More on this later… Wednesday evening I went to Sacred Heart for supper with Fr. McKenna. Then we celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation with Bishop Matano. Being confirmed from our parish were Linda Dawley, Jackie Henry and Jim Waterman. May God’s gift of the Holy Spirit bless them now and forever…God bless and have a good week! Call to Nativity We sent out letters to architectural design firms this week inviting them to an information walkthrough this coming Wednesday, April 13. This way all the firms get the same information and hear each other’s questions with the same answers. They will get two weeks to prepare three concepts for a parish center, including budgets, for us to consider. Our planning committee will then examine the proposals and decide which firm we want to work with, and let them know by the middle of May. Please pray for our process. April 10, 2016 Dear Fellow Parishioners: Due to changes in my life, I will be stepping down as Director of the Contemporary Choir at the end of my term, which is June 30th, It has been a rewarding experience to serve this parish for these past few years, and a privilege to have worked with such a fine, talented and dedicated group of people as in this choir. If there is anyone who would like to be a part of this vibrant ministry and/or possibly lead them in song, please contact me or the Parish Office. Thank you all for your kind support throughout the years. May God bless all of you! Gratefully, Louise Pohl Pledge Forms Are Here We need you to walk on May 1st in the 5K stroll around the village of Brockport!
