FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Jesus’ parable speaks about the nature of prayer and our relationship with God. It does this by contrasting
two very different attitudes towards prayer. Pride leads to self-deception and spiritual blindness. True
humility helps us to see ourselves as we really are in God’s eyes and it inclines us to seek God’s help and
mercy. God dwells with the humble of heart who recognize their own sinfulness and who acknowledge
God’s mercy and saving grace. I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite
and humble spirit (Isaiah 57:15). God cannot hear us if we boast in ourselves and despise others. Do we
humbly seek God’s mercy and do we show mercy to others, especially those you find difficult to love and
to forgive?
JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY:
South West Deanery will conclude the Jubilee Year
of Mercy celebrations on Wednesday November
17. We will have confessions from 5:00 p.m. to
6:00 p.m. Holy Eucharist will be celebrated by
Most Rev.Bishop Michael Olson at 6:30 p.m.
There will be people from other parishes who
belong to our deanery. We will have many priests
available for the confessions. All the Faithful
who receive the sacrament of Reconciliation, go

the Holy Eucharist will receive one year plenary

KNOW MORE ABOUT JUBILEE YEAR
What can I do to live out the call to mercy
during this Holy Year? The Holy Father wrote
in Misercordie Vultus that God’s mercy “is not
an abstract idea, but a concrete reality with
which He reveals his love as of that of a father
or mother, moved to the very depths out of love
for their child.” The words of Jesus in Matthew
25:40, “You did it to me” also touch on this
tangible dimension of mercy. Pope Francis says
the spiritual and corporal works of mercy are
great ways of living that out.
SILENT AUCTION
At this years’ Jamaica, we will be having a silent auction.
To help make the auction a success, we are asking for
donations. Items should be new and unused. We will
also welcome handmade items and baked goods. Please
contact Tonye Grauman at 254-592-9272, tonye_r@
yahoo.com, or facebook under Tonye Rogoski Grauman
