This was exactly at the time that we were remodeling our beautiful church. At the same time, Holy Sprit Catholic Community in Pocatello was planning to build their new chapel. Obviously, the financial struggle that the country and our state have gone through impacted church building projects throughout the diocese of Boise. Saint Mary’s has been very fortunate as we have continued to strengthen our magnificent school, and we have purchased beautiful art for the beautiful people of God that assemble within our beautiful Church. I encourage you to join me in prayer as we plan in the new year to begin to pay off our parish debt and strengthen our financial health. Fr. John FIESTA DE SAN FRANCISCO DE ASÍS, 4 DE OCTUBRE (1182-1226). ¡Felicidades! Ad multos annos vivas! Su amigo y servidor ~ Padre Jesús Camacho SAINT FRANCIS’ FEAST DAY, October 4. We are used to the word "ecology"; a word that surely the poor of Assisi never spoke or heard. But Saint Francis knew the deep root, the true meaning of ecology. He was the first who was concerned about the balance between animals, plants and humans. He was the first who considered them the same with regard to all created things: no matter how different we are, we are all creatures of God, said Francis. He acknowledged that God's creatures had an interdependence, ordered by their creator, and that breaking the bonds that unite them constituted misconduct. He felt a deep respect and admiration for all that was in nature: from a simple pet to the star King, the sun. According to the stories, all species were listening to him and obeying his orders. With the passage of time, this love of St. Francis by nature, was what motivated the world animal protection organization as to establish October 4 as the "World Day of the Animals". Also, Pope John Paul II recognized his Christian contribution to humanity proclaiming him in 1980, "Patron Saint of the Animals and of the Ecologists". Learning about Saint Francis is timely and needed it. We must rethink our place in the created order, so that human well being is integrated into the welfare of nature (environment) and of all other creatures (plants and animals). Also today, Father Faucher celebrates his 70th birthday. Congratulations! Ad multos annos live! Your friend and servant ~ Fr. Jesus Camacho TWENTY-SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Page # 3 October 4, 2015 COOKIES ARE BACK! Sales begin October 17 & 18 after all the English Masses.
