Retirement Fund for the Religious Dear Father and Parish Staff, Pope Francis declared that the Year of Consecrated Life be celebrated throughout the world from November 29, 2014, through February 2, 2016. During this special year for religious, please join me in supporting the upcoming appeal for the Retirement Fund for Religious. We have all witnessed the selfless dedication of religious serving in our parishes, schools, hospitals, and numerous areas of ministry during our lifetime. In our often troubled world, they remain a visible sign of Christ’s love. As I ask your support of this appeal, I invite you to think of it not only in terms of a matter of justice to care for their needs, but as an act of solidarity with them, letting them know that our appreciation for their witness is so strong that it prompts a desire to join them in their unique contribution to the life of the Church and society. Please share this message with your parishioners in a way you consider most effective, either from the pulpit or in your parish bulletin. The collection is scheduled to be taken at all Masses on December 12 and 13, 2015. This letter gives me the opportunity to thank you for the many ways you as pastor and the parish staff witness to the Gospel by your service to the people under your pastoral care. Please express to your parish family my heartfelt best wishes. Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend Blase J. What better way to prepare by sharing your blessings with those who are less fortunate. Like so many in our country, many families in our parish cannot provide their children a Christmas gift because of economic hardships or the parent’s loss of a job. The St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Turibius will once again sponsor a Giving Tree to help share Christ’s love for children in need. At the front of the Church, there will be a Christmas tree decorated with tags listing a child in need. Please return the gift in a gift bag under the tree with the original Christmas tree tag attached to the gift no later than the weekend of December 13. All gifts should be new and unopened and the value of the gift should be $25.00. Please only take a tag if you are intending to buy a gift!! If you are unable to shop and wish to purchase a gift certificate for a needy child or to make a financial donation you may drop these off in the Rectory or Sunday Collection in an envelope NEEDY CHILDREN CHRISTMAS DONATION and we will make sure that the money is used for a needy child. Thank you for your generosity and for helping to share the love of Jesus this Christmas for children in need. Therefore we, the Parish Family of Saint Turibius, dedicate ourselves to living out Christ’s Great Commandment: we will love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength, and we will show our love for God by the way we love and care for one another. To this end, we will respond to our baptismal call, strengthened by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit. As a Family of Faith that has an Attitude of Gratitude for the gifts God has given to us, we will share our time, our talent and our treasure with each other. We welcome into our parish family all people, because we believe that together we are the Body of Christ and together we can bring the love, peace, forgiveness, healing, and joy of Christ into our community in ways we never could have if we were to remain apart.
