Dear St. Lawrence the Martyr Parish Family,
“What may I give to the Lord for all the good
things which he has done for me?” Psalm 116
This question first makes us think of the
blessings in our lives for which we should be
thankful to God – our lives, families, friends,
jobs, talents, and faith. Then we must answer
the question “How do we give back to God
for these blessings?” One way is to be a good
disciple of Jesus Christ by living out the Gospel
and to be a good steward of the blessings that
God has poured out on each one of us.
As a good steward, we are each asked to return
to God the “first fruits of our labors’, not out of
a sense of obligation, but rather out of our great
gratitude and love for the “good things” which
we have received from our loving God. Offering
the first fruits of our treasure to God, sharing
our time, and our talents for the spreading of the
Gospel and for the well-being of others today
and in the future, makes us good disciples and
good stewards of God’s gifts.

program. Commitment Sunday will be held
at Masses the weekend of November 14th and
15th where each family will be encouraged to
complete a Commitment Card and pledge a
sacrificial gift from your “first fruits” to support
all the ministries of St. Lawrence the Martyr
Parish.
Thank you for your past stewardship as it has
made a difference in the life of St. Lawrence the
Martyr Parish, and to our larger community.

While other parishes have seen declines in
Mass attendance, Baptisms, First Communions,
Confirmations, Marriages, and Funerals, we
continue to see a steady or a slight increase
in our numbers. This along with other
ministries such as Communion visits to the
Sick and Homebound, our St. Vincent de
Paul Society assistance to those in need, and
the item collections for the Migrant Workers
and Homeless, Thanksgiving Baskets, and
Christmas Giving Tree, are just a few examples
of the spiritual health of our community in
living out our faith and also putting it in actions.
All of this is possible here at St. Lawrence for two
reasons: 1) because of your generous financial
support and 2) because of many dedicated
volunteers. We rejoice and thank God for what
we do in His name…..but we also need to realize
that there is a great deal more to do. The work of
the Church never ends.
We have challenges to address as well. Additional
staffing to meet the spiritual and faith needs
of our community, paying off our loan on our
beautiful Church, as well as ensuring that our
aging buildings are cared for in a manner for
our use and the use by future St. Lawrence the
Martyr parishioners.
As we plan for the future, a concerted effort to
increase our Sunday offertory is needed to allow
us to continue the mission of our Church. This
weekend you are being asked to prayerfully
and sacrificially consider your support and
investment in your parish by “Sharing Our
Blessings, Securing Our Future”, as a way to
give back to the Lord for all He has done.

Esta pregunta primero nos hace pensar en todas
las bendiciones en nuestras vidas por las cuales
debemos ser agradecidos con Dios; nuestras
vidas, familias, amistades, trabajo, talento
y fe. Luego debemos contestar la pregunta
“¿Qué puedo ofrecer a Dios por todas estas
bendiciones?” Una manera es siendo buen
discípulo de Jesucristo, viviendo el Evangelio y
siendo un buen mayordomo de las bendiciones
que Dios nos ha dado a cada uno.
Como buenos administradores, a cada uno se
le pide que le entreguemos a Dios los “Primeros
frutos de nuestra labor”, no por algún sentido de
obligación, sino por la gran gratitud y amor por
las “cosas buenas” que hemos recibido de nuestro
Dios bondadoso. Ofreciendo los primeros frutos
de nuestro tesoro a Dios, compartiendo nuestro
tiempo y talentos para fomentar el Evangelio y
el bienestar de los demás hoy y en el futuro, nos
hace buenos discípulos y administradores de los
obsequios de Dios.
Mientras otras parroquias han visto la decaída
de asistencia a la Misa, Bautismos, Primeras
Comuniones, Confirmaciones, Matrimonios
y Funerales; nosotros continuamos viendo un
crecimiento o un crecimiento lento en nuestras
cifras. Esto, junto con otros ministerios como
la Comunión para los Enfermos, ayuda a los
necesitados por nuestra Sociedad de San Vicente
de Paul, y la colección de artículos de aseo para
los desamparados y trabajadores de campo,
canastos de comido para el día de Acción de
Gracias, el Árbol De Regalos para la Navidad,
son unas muestras de la salud espiritual de
nuestra comunidad viviendo nuestra fe, y
poniéndola en acción.

How & When Will We Make Our Commitment? / ¿Cómo y cuándo haremos nuestro compromiso?
Commitment Sunday will be held during Mass the weekend of November 14th and 15th. You will be presented with a Commitment Card to complete and drop in the offertory basket. You
may also take time to pray over your commitment and return it to the church within the next 10 days. Your new commitment should begin with the next Sunday’s offertory. If you are out of
town or unable to attend Mass on Commitment Sunday, a Commitment Card and letter will be mailed to your home. A final Summary Report of the program will be shared with all families in
the next few weeks. Your Commitment, no matter the increase, will be included in the final results. All commitments will be kept completely confidential and will not be disclosed in any way.

El Domingo de compromiso se llevará a cabo en la Misa del fin de semana del 14 y 15 de noviembre. Se presentará con una Tarjeta de compromiso para completarla y dejarla en la canasta
de la colecta. También puede pasar que le tome tiempo rezar por su compromiso y traiga la tarjeta a la iglesia dentro de los 10 días posteriores a la Misa. Su nuevo compromiso debería
comenzar en la siguiente colecta de domingo. Si no se encuentra en el pueblo o no puede asistir a la Misa el Domingo de compromiso, se le enviará una Tarjeta de compromiso y una carta a su
