Thoughts from Our Pastor
Rev. John P. Broheimer
Every Sunday in the last line of the Creed,
we profess our belief in exactly what Jesus
teaches in the Gospel this weekend: that
we will be raised body and soul from the
dead and the faithful will have life
everlasting.
In order to make sense of this life, in order to succeed in
holiness now, we must remind ourselves constantly that
we are, in fact, immortal, that we are called by God to a
life that’s greater than this one. Everything we do in this
life must be directed to that truth of our Faith.
If we lose sight of our future and begin to think this life
is all there is, then we could wind up like the Sadducees
in the Gospel: selfish, prideful, greedy, angry, and
unaccountable. But always keeping in mind the hope of
our eternal life makes us caring, humble, generous, and
patient. We can get through anything this life gives us if
we maintain our faith that God will raise his faithful ones
from death to everlasting life.
Notable Anniversaries
October 28th marked the 11th
anniversary of the presence
of the Seraphic Sisters of the
Eucharist - Sisters Clara and
Lourdes - here at St. Peter
Parish. We are so grateful for
the presence of the Sisters at
St. Peter Parish. They help
immensely in ministering to
o u r S p a n i s h - s p e a k i n g St. Frances X. Cabrini - Nov. 13
parishioners, teach RCIA in Spanish, Children’s
Catechism, Catechism Parent Meetings, help with
Baptism preparation classes, quinceañera classes, and
serve as our Sacristans. Most importantly, their daily life
of prayer for the priests and for every member of our
parish are a vital spiritual support. We thank them for
their witness to the joy and beauty of consecrating one’s
life wholly to Christ, their beloved Divine Bridegroom.
Please pray in gratitude for our Sisters and for more
vocations to the consecrated life. November 1st marks
Deacon John Zak’s 18th anniversary of ordination to the
permanent diaconate. Please pray for Deacon Zak and
his lovely wife Mrs. Mary Irene Zak and their family.

Church Open for Prayer on Election Day,
November 8
Saint Peter Church will remain open
for prayer on Election Day,
Tuesday, November 8 from 7:30 am
until after the evening Mass at 6:30
pm. Only the door with the
wheelchair ramp on the west side of
the church will be open. We will
have our regular Mass and Confession schedule on
November 8: Confessions 7:30-7:50 am, Mass in
English at 8:00 am; Confessions 6:00-6:20 pm,
Mass in Spanish at 6:30 pm. Please pray for our
country.
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers,
intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all
men, for kings and all who are in high positions, so
that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all
godliness and dignity.” (I Timothy 2: 1-2)
Knights of Columbus Polka Party
All are invited to the 4th annual Family Polka Party
on Sunday, November 13 in St. Peter School
Gymnasium. Doors open and food sale begins at
2:30 pm, dance 3:00 pm-7:00 pm with Bobby Z
and Polka Joy. Delicious Polish and Czech food at
reasonable prices including Polish sausage, pork
loin with dumplings, golabki (cabbage rolls),
pierogi (stuffed dumplings), and imported beer.
Great polka music and dancing. Admission $7 per
person, ages 14 & under free; family limit $30.

Pensamientos de nuestro Párroco

Cada domingo, en la conclusión del Credo
profesamos nuestra fe en justo lo que el Señor nos
enseña en el evangelio este fin de semana: que
todos resucitaremos en cuerpo y alma y que los
fieles tendrán vida eterna.
Para poder encontrar sentido a esta vida, para
poder alcanzar la santidad ahora, necesitamos estar
constantemente conscientes de que somos, en
verdad, inmortales, que Dios nos llama a una vida
mejor que esta. Todo lo que hagamos en esta vida
debe fundarse en aquella verdad de nuestra Fe.
Si perdemos de vista nuestro futuro y comenzamos
a creer que nuestra realidad termina en esta vida,
entonces puede que acabemos como los Saduceos
en el evangelio: en el egoísmo, el orgullo, la avaricia,
la ira y la irresponsabilidad. Tomar siempre en
cuenta la esperanza de nuestra vida eterna nos
ayuda a ser bondadosos, humildes, generosos y
pacientes. Podemos contra todo mal en esta vida si
mantenemos nuestra fe en que Dios resucitará sus
fieles de la muerte a la vida eterna.
Aniversario Memorable
El 28 de octubre marcó el 11 aniversario de la
presencia de las Hermanas Seráficas de la Eucaristía
- Sor Clara y Sor Lourdes - aquí en la Parroquia de
San Pedro. Estamos muy agradecidos por la
presencia de las Hermanas. Ellas ayudan
enormemente a nuestros feligreses de habla
español, enseñar RICA en español, catecismo para
niños, reuniones de padres, ayudan en las clases de
preparación para bautismo, quinceañeras, y sirven
como nuestros sacristanes. Lo más importante son
sus oraciones diarias por los sacerdotes y por todos
los miembros de nuestra parroquia. Sus vidas de
oración están un apoyo espiritual inmenso. Les
damos las gracias por su testimonio de la alegría y la
belleza de consagrar su vida totalmente a Cristo, su
amado divino Esposo. Por favor, oren en
agradecimiento por nuestras Hermanas y para más
vocaciones a la vida consagrada. El 1 de noviembre
marco el 18 aniversario de Diácono John Zak de la
ordenación al diaconado permanente. Por favor
oren por Diácono Zak y su amable esposa la señora
Mary Irene Zak y su familia.

La venta de comida es cancelada el 6 de noviembre
debido del Curso Nuevo Pentecostés este fin de semana.

costo de los nuevos techos para la Escuela San Pedro y

All are invited for donuts and coffee
in McMahon Hall on Sunday, October
30, after the 8:00 am and 9:30 am
Masses. This week donuts are hosted
by the Catholic Daughters.
Homeschool Sacramental
Preparation
As was published via email on 1
October all homeschool families who
have children (seven or older) who
hope to receive first Sacrament of
Penance on Saturday 10 December
must have scheduled an interview with
Fr. Broheimer by Friday 28 October.
If you have not done this, please call
the parish office to make an
appointment for your child. The
preparation document is posted on
the parish website under Sacramental
Preparation.
The Pro Sanctity Center is hosting
an Election Prayer Vigil
The Prayer Vigil will
begin at 7:00 pm
Monday, November
7 and continue
through 8:00 pm
Tuesday, November
8. The Blessed
Sacrament will be
exposed for this period of time. Please
join us for whatever time you are able
to pray for our country. Pro Sanctity is
located at 11002 N. 204th St. For

Hispanic Food Sale for New Roofs
The Food Sale is canceled on Sunday,
November 6, due to a retreat in
Spanish that weekend.
All are invited to enjoy delicious,
authentic Mexican, Salvadoran and
Guatemalan food in McMahon Hall
on Sunday, November 13 after the
1:00 pm Mass. Dine in or take out.
All proceeds will help pay the costs of
the new roofs for Saint Peter School
and McMahon Hall. So far, $3,002.34
has been raised for the new roofs at
the food sales. Come enjoy delicious
Hispanic cuisine and help Saint Peter
Parish at the same time.
Young Adult Basketball/Volleyball
Young adults are invited to come and
play volleyball (1st Mondays) and
basketball from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in
the St. Peter School Gym on Monday
nights from November 7-March 27

November Senior Adult Luncheon
All adult parishioners and friends of
St. Peter Parish are invited to the
November 16 luncheon and program.
It will be held on the 3rd Wednesday
due to the Thanksgiving holiday. We

by our program, “Holiday in the

The Archbishop’s Annual Appeal is
every Catholic’s opportunity within
the Archdiocese of Omaha to share in
the work of the archdiocese and the

Toda jovencita está invitada al grupo

Fiesta para Monaguillos Activos
Todo monaguillo activo en San Pedro
está invitado a su fiesta de Epifanía el
domingo, 8 de enero, de 2:30 pm
hasta las 5:00 pm en el salón de
boliche de la Inmaculada Concepción
(2708 S. 24th St.). Los niños recibirán
pizza, refresco y juego de boliche. Se
le pide a todo niño traer una botana
para compartir, tal como chips,
postre, fruta, etc. Una forma de
permiso firmada se requiere para
poder asistir; las formas de permiso se
pueden descargar de nuestro sitio web
o pueden pasar a la oficina parroquia
o sacristía en diciembre.
