LENTEN FAST & ABSTINENCE
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of
fasting and abstinence. All Catholics who have
reached age 18 and are not yet 60 are required
to fast on these days. All Catholics who are age
14 and older must abstain from meat on Ash
Wednesday and on all Fridays of Lent.

TO JOIN OUR MARDI GRAS CELEBRATION WITH
REFRESHMENTS ON THE PATIO.

Fast and Abstinence Requirement for

• Eat two smaller meals in addition to your main

Our parish goal for the 2015 Pastoral Services
Appeal is for at least 1,000 families to pledge a total
of $316,000. Your donations will go toward needed
improvements in Doyle Hall:

Replacing the flooring in the Hall
•
Replacing the flooring in the classrooms
•
Painting all of the walls in the Hall
•
Purchasing additional white folding chairs
•
Purchasing needed kitchen cooking/serving
utensils
These improvements are needed to insure that the
meetings of all our ministries and prayer groups, as
well as the teaching of our catechetical students be
done in pleasant and safe surroundings.

and Palm Island. There is no
time restriction for these facilities.
Ministers who are able to bring
ashes to these homes, may do so
at any time on that day.

S.H.I.P—Holy Spirit Parish is supporting the SelfHelp Interfaith program (S.H.I.P., www.shipinoc.com),
March 21-April 3, with dinner meals, lunch and breakfast
items and non-perishable items. Patio sign-ups after
Masses on February 28, March 1 and March 7/8. SHIP is
an ecumenical venture of approximately 15 churches in
Northwest Orange County. SHIP provides a residential
program for the homeless. The program is designed to
handle up to 8-10 guests at a time who transition from
homeless status to a stable residence with a job.

ORGULLOSO DE SER CATÓLICO – ENVIADOS A SERVIR. La
Campaña Para Los Servicios Pastorales es una campaña anual de la
Fundación Católica de Orange. Esta Campaña nos proporciona la
oportunidad para unirnos con los católicos de la Diócesis para
apoyar los ministerios y servicios que atienden y benefician a
nuestra parroquia y a la comunidad en Orange County. Lleven un
folleto sobre La Campaña de los Servicios Pastorales (PSA), a su
hogar y después de orar; consideren cómo su familia responderá a
éste llamado, para apoyar el trabajo de Cristo en nuestra comunidad.
El Tiempo de Cuaresma – La Cuaresma se conoce como un tiempo de
retiro o peregrinaje – una jornada de cuarenta días. La Cuaresma
inicia el 18 de febrero, 2015. Acompáñennos a la celebración de La
Misa del Miércoles de Ceniza (inglés/español) a las 6:00 PM en Doyle
Hall. Durante La Cuaresma es tiempo de hacer penitencia y aprovechar la oportunidad de ir a recibir el perdón por medio de la Confesión durante los Servicios Penitenciales el 10 de marzo a las 7:00 PM.
La Iglesia Requiere: Observar abstinencia el Miércoles de Ceniza y
todos los viernes durante La Cuaresma. Esto quiere decir que
debemos de evitar comer carne. Este requisito es para las personas
de 14 años y mayores.
Los Caballeros de Colón Empezando el 20 de febrero servirán de las
5:00 – 7:00 p.m. cada viernes, la cena que incluye varios platillos
preparados con pescado, legumbres, sopas, café, té. El Ministerio de
los jóvenes tendrá postres y refrescos disponibles durante la cena.
Sus donativos apoyaran las diferentes obras de caridad que ayudan
en la parroquia y la Diócesis.
