Father Joe’s Week:
Last Thursday morning we
had Mary Harris’s funeral. Thanks, as always, to all
the parishioners who greet, read, serve, etc. It makes
such a kind ministry to a hurting family…That
evening I went to the Castañeda home for Mass. The
Novena for Our Lady of Guadalupe was the occasion
for the Mass, and the house was packed. We had
families and farmworkers, all joining in worship and
fellowship. Thanks to Gloria and her family for
opening their home to us…Saturday afternoon we
celebrated the wedding of Daniel Hanks and Mary
Scheda. God bless them with many years of
happiness. Thanks to Deacon Tom Schrage and Mary
Lynne Turner for all their work with our wedding
couples…After the regular Mass on Saturday, the
Hispanic Community gathered to celebrate Our Lady
of Guadalupe. It was a festive Mass, combining
Advent and Guadalupe, English and Spanish. After
the Mass, we were entertained with wonderful ethnic
dances from Mexico. The kids were so well prepared,
and their costumes lent authenticity to the dances.
Thanks to the kids, who clearly had a good time, and
to the adults who prepared them—Great
job!...Sunday after Mass I enjoyed the Living
Nativity in Church. Go to our Facebook page
(Nativity Brockport) and see the pictures. If you
“like” our page you will get daily posts on Advent,
and all the parish news…Sunday afternoon I went to
the Catholic Daughters’ Christmas party. We had a
lovely meal, spirited singing, and prizes! Thanks for
inviting me—I was able to go because our Spanish
Mass was Saturday night…Monday I was called for
an emergency at Unity Hospital—I take one day a
month to be “on call” at the Hospital. That afternoon
I went to St. John’s in Spencerport to help with their
penance service…Tuesday afternoon I went to
Beikirch for Mass; always a joyous celebration. We
proved we could have the Mass without Joanie
McGuinn, but it was touch and go. That afternoon
our Finance Council met to review the October
numbers—everything is well within our budget and
going fine, although we can always improve our
financial standing. Is God calling you to increase
your weekly offering this coming New Year?...Our
Pastoral Council met that evening. We are discussing
“Dynamic Catholicism,” a book by Matthew Kelly,
and I enjoyed our discussion this month. Such a fine
group of folks…Wednesday I went to Syracuse for
Spiritual Direction and the Sacrament of Penance…
God bless and have a good week!

The
Nativity
Giving
Tree
Committee wishes to thank all of you
who helped to make the Giving Tree
Ministry a success. The gifts and gift
cards you purchased and the generous donations you
contributed enabled us to supply gifts to 150 children
and more than 100 adults from seven community
agencies. We were also able to donate some items to
Richard’s House, who provide housing and care to
unemployed veterans who are seeking job training and
employment. We were able to fulfill all of those
requests because of your generosity. You brightened the
holiday season for many children and families. Thank
you again and thanks to the parishioners who delivered
gifts for us, set up the giving trees and offered their
prayers and other assistance to this project. May you all
have a wonderful New Year.

Nativity’s CMA Report
December 20, 2015
Our Catholic Ministries Appeal continues
this week. As of Tuesday, we had 267
parishioners total pledging $60,745 which
is 150.50% of our goal of $40,361.00. Thank you for
pledging.
Our parish goal is to have 275 parishioners
participating in the CMA. We are at 97%.
Please participate in the CMA, which supports the
ministries of our Bishop and our parish. Pledge any
amount; what’s important is participating at any level.
You can mail your pledge to the Diocese, or place the
envelope into the Sunday offering and we will forward it
for you. There are extra envelopes at the entrances to the
church or at the Parish Office.
Oración en la Corona de
Adviento
Guía: V en, oh Llave de
David, Ven, Príncipe divino,
sácanos de este loco y sombrío
laberinto
en
que
nos
encontramos, y condúcenos al
reino de la verdad y de la
libertad. Ven a imponer el
derecho y la misericordia con tu
divino Cetro. Ven a abrir todas
las cárceles, las de la ciudad y
las del alma, con tus Llaves
prodigiosas. Ven a hacernos libres. Ven a hacernos
reyes. Ven, Señor, que das señorío. Ven, Llave que
abres todos los corazones.
Todos: Am én.
Christmas Dinner Prayer
Oportunidad para confesarse en Adviento:
Martes, 22 de diciembre – 7:00 pm en Nativity
BVM. Habrá una liturgia de la Palabra y luego vendrán
las confesiones individuales. Las puedes hacer en
español o inglés. En el boletín hay un insert para
prepararnos mejor para la confesión.
God of all gifts, we thank you for the
many ways you have blessed us this
day. We are grateful each of those who
are gathered around this table. We ask
you to bless us and our food and to
bless those we love who are not with us
today. In our gratitude and love, we remember your
humble birth into our lives and pray for those who are
are without enough to eat. We remember the stable
in which you were born and pray for those who have
no place to live. We remember your challenging
message of caring and giving and we pray for peace
in families and nations throughout the world. We
bless you and give you thanks in your Spirit who
brings our hearts to life the Christmas Day and
forever. Amen.
