Thanks, as always, to all the parishioners who greet, read, serve, etc. It makes such a kind ministry to a hurting family…That evening I went to the Castañeda home for Mass. The Novena for Our Lady of Guadalupe was the occasion for the Mass, and the house was packed. We had families and farmworkers, all joining in worship and fellowship. Thanks to Gloria and her family for opening their home to us…Saturday afternoon we celebrated the wedding of Daniel Hanks and Mary Scheda. God bless them with many years of happiness. Thanks to Deacon Tom Schrage and Mary Lynne Turner for all their work with our wedding couples…After the regular Mass on Saturday, the Hispanic Community gathered to celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe. It was a festive Mass, combining Advent and Guadalupe, English and Spanish. After the Mass, we were entertained with wonderful ethnic dances from Mexico. The kids were so well prepared, and their costumes lent authenticity to the dances. Thanks to the kids, who clearly had a good time, and to the adults who prepared them—Great job!...Sunday after Mass I enjoyed the Living Nativity in Church. Go to our Facebook page (Nativity Brockport) and see the pictures. If you “like” our page you will get daily posts on Advent, and all the parish news…Sunday afternoon I went to the Catholic Daughters’ Christmas party. We had a lovely meal, spirited singing, and prizes! Thanks for inviting me—I was able to go because our Spanish Mass was Saturday night…Monday I was called for an emergency at Unity Hospital—I take one day a month to be “on call” at the Hospital. That afternoon I went to St. John’s in Spencerport to help with their penance service…Tuesday afternoon I went to Beikirch for Mass; always a joyous celebration. We proved we could have the Mass without Joanie McGuinn, but it was touch and go. That afternoon our Finance Council met to review the October numbers—everything is well within our budget and going fine, although we can always improve our financial standing. Is God calling you to increase your weekly offering this coming New Year?...Our Pastoral Council met that evening. We are discussing “Dynamic Catholicism,” a book by Matthew Kelly, and I enjoyed our discussion this month. Such a fine group of folks…Wednesday I went to Syracuse for Spiritual Direction and the Sacrament of Penance… God bless and have a good week! December 20, 2015 Penance Preparation This weekend you will find as a bulletin insert, an Examination of Conscience to help you prepare for individual confession. We were able to fulfill all of those requests because of your generosity. You brightened the holiday season for many children and families.
