Mass intentions /Las Intenciones de Misa
Masses can be celebrated any day for living or deceased loved
ones. The Diocesan stipend is $15.00. What a beautiful way to
remember and honor those we love. We have beautiful Mass
cards for both the living and the deceased. If you would like a
Mass intention please contact the parish office. If you want the
name to appear in the Sunday bulletin, requests should be submitted before Monday.

World Mission Sunday—October 19-20
By Baptism, all Catholics are called to participate in the mission
of the Church, called to share their faith as missionaries.
World Mission Sunday gathers support for the pastoral and
evangelizing programs and needs of more than 1,150 mission
dioceses in Africa, Asia, the Pacific Islands, and remote regions
of Latin America. The funds gathered on World Mission Sunday are distributed in the pope's name by the Society for the
Propagation of the Faith—a Pontifical Mission Society
"Making All Things New".
On Tuesday, Sept 24th representatives from the Northern
Manhattan parish communities of the Archdiocese of New
York along with representatives of the consultant firm the Reid
Group met at the Archdiocese to begin phase 2 of "Making All
Things New". The St. Joseph of the Holy Family representatives
are Fr. Nolan, Angela Young, Theresa Maddicks, Jeffrey Johnson and Charmaine Inniss.
'Making All Things New" began a few years ago and examines
the pastoral, religious and spiritual needs of a parish/
community, the viability of a parish community. The St Joseph
of the Holy Family representatives will meet regularly as well as
with other parish/communities to discuss and address every
conceivable issue of the parish(es). At the Archdiocese we
prayed the following prayer for guidance we invite you fellow
parishioners and visitors to pray this prayer with us.
God our Father, through the Gospel and the Eucharist, You bring us
together as Your Church in the Archdiocese of New York.
Send us Your Holy Spirit, to enlighten our minds and guide our actions as we plan for the future of parish life in this Archdiocese.
Help us learn ways to strengthen and revitalize our parish communities, and to be good stewards of the spiritual and material gifts that
sustain them.
Bless our work, so that our parishes may continue to witness
to the truth of the Gospel and be a sign of Your love for all people.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

St. Francis of Assisi
On October 4th, the feast day of St. Francis,
Pope Francis went to Assisi to pray and walk in
the footsteps of St. Francis, whose name he
adopted for his papacy. As a young man, St.
Francis realized his life of money and success
felt empty. One day, in prayer before the
crucifix, he heard God say to him - "Francis, go
and repair my house which is falling into ruins." We know that
the house/church is not a building, it is not the pope, bishops
and priests. THE CHURCH IS ALL OF US. So Francis realized he
had to change his life. He stripped himself of all the trappings
of his wealth, and became a poor servant like Jesus - caring for
the sick and the poor, preaching the Gospel, and most
important, becoming more like Jesus.
In meditating on this story of St. Francis, it would be helpful to
ask ourselves what part of our life needs to be stripped? Is it
the anger and violence in our heart, is it the indifference to
the poor and suffering in our midst, is it our obsession with
money and objects - the gods we have come to idolize, or is it
pride and arrogance that makes us look down on those
around us? Pope Francis said "this is the cancer that is
destroying us." LET US CONSIDER GOD'S CALL TO ST.
FRANCIS AS A CALL TO US!! Pope Francis challenges us to "Be witnesses of faith with your life: bring Christ into your
homes, proclaim Him among your friends, welcome Him and
serve Him in the poor." LET US RESPOND TO GOD'S CALL
TODAY. WE CAN ONLY REBUILD THE CHURCH WITH GOD'S
LOVE.

The Rosary
Please join us the month of October after the 9am Mass on
Monday, Wednesday through Saturday for the recitation of
the Rosary followed by the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
TACHS- Admission to Catholic High School
To enter Catholic High Schools, 8th grade pupils must take
the Test for Admission in to Catholic High School (TACHS).
The exam is Friday, November 08. The application deadline is
October 21st. There is a $52.00 registration fee. For

San Francisco de Asís
El 4 de octubre, fiesta de San Francisco, el Papa
Francis fue a Asís para orar y caminar en los pasos de San Francisco, cuyo nombre adoptó para
su pontificado. En su juventud, San Francisco se
dio cuenta que su vida de dinero y el éxito se
sentía vacía. Un día, en la oración ante el crucifijo,
oyó Dios que le decía: - "Francisco, ve y repara mi casa, que
está cayendo en ruinas." Sabemos que la casa / iglesia no es un
edificio, no es el Papa, los obispos y los sacerdotes. LA IGLESIA
SOMOS TODOS NOSOTROS. Así que Francis se dio cuenta que
tenía que cambiar su vida. Él se despojó de toda la parafernalia
de su riqueza, y se convirtió en un pobre siervo como Jesús cuidando los enfermos y los pobres, predicando el Evangelio, y
lo más importante, llegando a ser más como Jesús.
Al meditar sobre esta historia de San Francisco, sería útil preguntarnos qué parte de nuestra vida tiene que ser despojado?
¿Es la ira y la violencia en nuestro corazón, es la indiferencia
ante los pobres y los que sufren en medio de nosotros, es
nuestra obsesión por el dinero y los objetos - los dioses que
hemos llegado a idolatrar, o es el orgullo y la arrogancia que
nos hace mirar abajo en los que nos rodean? Papa Francis dijo
que "este es el cáncer que nos está destruyendo." ¡DEJENOS
CONSIDERAR EL LLAMADO DE DIOS A SAN FRANCISCO COMO UN LLAMADO A NOSOTROS! Papa Francis nos reta a -
"Ser testigos de la fe con su vida: llevar a Cristo en sus hogares, proclamarlo entre sus amigos, darle la bienvenida y servirlo en los pobres." DEJENOS RESPONDER A HOY A LA LLAMADA DE DIOS. SÓLO PODEMOS RECONSTRUIR LA IGLESIA CON

"Haciendo Nuevas todas las cosas"
El Martes, 24 de septiembre representantes de las comunidades parroquiales de Manhattan Norte de la Arquidiócesis de
Nueva York, junto con representantes de la firma consultora
Grupo Reid se reunió en la Arquidiócesis para comenzar la
fase 2 de "Haciendo nuevas todas las cosas" . Los representantes San José de la Sagrada Familia son Padre Nolan, Angela
Young, Theresa Maddicks, Jeffrey Johnson y Charmaine Inniss.
"Haciendo nuevas todas las cosas", comenzó hace unos años y
examina las necesidades pastorales, religiosas y espirituales de
la parroquia / comunidad, la viabilidad de una comunidad parroquial. Los representantes de San José de la Sagrada Familia
se reunirán periódicamente, así como con otras parroquial /
comunidades para debatir y abordar todos los temas imaginables de la parroquia (s). En la Arquidiócesis oramos esta oración y invitamos los feligreses y visitantes para rezar esta oración con nosotros.
Dios, nuestro Padre, por medio del Evangelio y la Eucaristía, Usted
nos une como Su Iglesia en la Arquidiócesis de Nueva York.
Envíanos tu Espíritu Santo, para que ilumine nuestras mentes y guíe
nuestras acciones ya que planeamos para el futuro de la vida
parroquial en esta Arquidiócesis.
Ayúdanos a aprender maneras de fortalecer y revitalizar nuestras
comunidades parroquiales, y para ser buenos administradores de los
dones espirituales y materiales que las sustentan
Bendice nuestro trabajo, para que nuestras parroquias podrán seguir siendo testigo a la verdad del Evangelio y ser un signo de su
amor por todos los hombres.
