and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in.
When Simon Peter arrived after him, he went into
the tomb and saw the burial cloths there, and the
cloth that had covered his head, not with the burial
cloths but rolled up in a separate place. Then the
other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived
at the tomb first, and he saw and believed. For they
did not yet understand the Scripture that he had to
rise from the dead.
Brief commentary on the Gospel
Easter Sunday is a day all
about seeking. The early
Christian communities
gathered around the
Apostles, seeking more
about the life and ministry of
the Lord Jesus. Saint Paul
told the baptized Colossians
to "seek what is above."
Mary of Magdalene went to
the tomb, seeking to find the Lord's body so that
she could anoint it. We come to church on Easter
Sunday seeking many things. For some of us, this is
a once-a-year journey, when we seek connection
with the foundations of the Christian faith. For
others, this day is the culmination of a long journey
of Lenten repentance. For the newly baptized, this
is the first day of a new life filled with promise and
expectation. Whatever it is that we seek, let us be
inspired by the disciple whom Jesus loved who,
when he saw the wrappings of cloth inside the
empty tomb, "saw and believed."

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION
The Lenten journey is now complete, its mission of renewal and prepara on to receive new life fulfilled. The call to
worship the Risen Lord has been received, and we gather to experience together the consoling presence of Christ in word and
sacrament. We are at our best today, crowded and cramped to be sure, but the fullest sign of who were are meant to be. Christ
has claimed us in the waters of bap sm, we have acquired wonderful companions, and together we can accomplish great things.
This is the day for rekindling the old flames of bap smal commitment, so we light the
paschal candle, and by its light we make yet again the ancient promises to reject evil’s grip and empty promises.
Today we do not recite the Creed, but respond with one voice to age-old ques ons. New life has to be nurtured, both the life of
the newly bap zed and the renewed life of those who have passed through Lent’s refining prayer, fas ng, and giving alms. At
any Mass during the next fi y days, you may be surprised by grace and splashed by water!

Abril es el Mes de la Prevención del Abuso InfanƟl
The Fulfillment of Our Faith: Easter is a day of celebra on because it represents the
fulfillment of our faith as Chris ans. St. Paul wrote that, unless Christ rose from the dead, our faith is in
vain (1 Corinthians 15:17). Through his death, Christ saved mankind from bondage to sin, and He destroyed the hold that death has on all of us; but it is His Resurrec on that gives us the promise of new
life, both in this world and the next.
The Coming of the Kingdom: That new life began on Easter Sunday. In the Our Father, we pray that
"Thy Kingdom come, on earth as it is in Heaven." And Christ told His disciples that some of them would
not die un l they saw the Kingdom of God "coming in power" (Mark 9:1). The early Chris an Fathers saw
Easter as the fulfillment of that promise. With the resurrec on of Christ, God's Kingdom is established on
earth, in the form of the Church.
New Life in Christ: That is why people who are conver ng to Catholicism tradi onally are bap zed at the Easter Vigil service, which
takes place on Holy Saturday (the day before Easter), star ng some me a er sunset. They have usually undergone a long process of study
and prepara on known as the Rite of Chris an Ini a on for Adults (RCIA). Their bap sm parallels Christ's own Death and Resurrec on, as
they die to sin and rise to new life in the Kingdom of God.
Communion - Our Easter Duty: Because of the central importance of Easter to the Chris an faith, the Catholic Church
requires that all Catholics who have made their Fist Communion receive the Holy Eucharist some me during the
Easter Season, which lasts through Pentecost 50 days a er Easter. (The Church also urges us to take part in the Sacrament of Confession
before receiving this Easter communion.) This recep on of the Eucharist is a visible sign of our faith and our par cipa on in the Kingdom
of God. Of course, we should receive Communion as frequently as possible; this “Easter Duty” is simply the minimum requirement set by
the Church.
Easter or Pascha: The word “Easter” comes from Old English and refers to the Norse Goddess of Fer lity, “Istra” – who was symbolized
by a rabbit. The word Pascha (“Fesakh” in Arabic) refers to the Passover – the greatest feast of the
Old Testament. That feast referred to the me when God delivered the Hebrew people from slavery and bondage. He
commanded them to offer the sacrifice of a spotless lamb and to sprinkle its blood upon their gateposts that the Angel of Death would
pass over their houses. The Chris ans, seeing the true fulfillment of the Old Law in the New Testament, realized that this ancient feast
was but a foreshadowing of the destruc on of death by Christ in His burial and Resurrec on. The beau ful hymns of Resurrec on Ma ns
(sung on Saturday a er the procession) frequently refer to Christ as the spotless Lamb, the true Savior, the Victor over sin and death, the
Deliverer from bondage, and as the Author of the New crea on.

Domingo de Pascua de la Resurrección del Señor
La Resurrección es fuente de profunda alegría. A partir de ella, los cristianos no podemos vivir más con
caras tristes. Contempla los lugares donde Cristo se apareció después de Su Resurrección.
Importancia de la fiesta
El Domingo de Resurrección o de Pascua es la fiesta más importante para todos los católicos, ya que
con la Resurrección de Jesús es cuando adquiere sentido toda nuestra religión.
Cristo triunfó sobre la muerte y con esto nos abrió las puertas del Cielo. En la Misa dominical recordamos de una manera especial esta gran alegría. Se enciende el Cirio Pascual que representa la luz de
Cristo resucitado y que permanecerá prendido hasta el día de la Ascensión, cuando Jesús sube al Cielo.
La Resurrección de Jesús es un hecho histórico, cuyas pruebas entre otras, son el sepulcro vacío y las
numerosas apariciones de Jesucristo a sus apóstoles.
Cuando celebramos la Resurrección de Cristo, estamos celebrando también nuestra propia liberación.
Celebramos la derrota del pecado y de la muerte. En la resurrección encontramos la clave de la esperanza cristiana: si Jesús está vivo y está junto a nosotros, ¿qué podemos temer?, ¿qué nos puede preocupar? Cualquier sufrimiento adquiere sentido con la Resurrección, pues podemos estar seguros de que, después de una corta vida en la
tierra, si hemos sido fieles, llegaremos a una vida nueva y eterna, en la que gozaremos de Dios para siempre. San Pablo nos dice: “Si
Cristo no hubiera resucitado, vana seria nuestra fe” (I Corintios 15,14)
Si Jesús no hubiera resucitado, sus palabras hubieran quedado en el aire, sus promesas hubieran quedado sin cumplirse y dudaríamos
que fuera realmente Dios. Pero, como Jesús sí resucitó, entonces sabemos que venció a la muerte y al pecado; sabemos que Jesús es
Dios, sabemos que nosotros resucitaremos también, sabemos que ganó para nosotros la vida eterna y de esta manera, toda nuestra
vida adquiere sentido. La Resurrección es fuente de profunda alegría. A partir de ella, los cristianos no podemos vivir más con caras
tristes. Debemos tener cara de resucitados, demostrar al mundo nuestra alegría porque Jesús ha vencido a la muerte. La Resurrección
es una luz para los hombres y cada cristiano debe irradiar esa misma luz a todos los hombres haciéndolos partícipes de la alegría de
la Resurrección por medio de sus palabras, su testimonio y su trabajo apostólico.
Debemos estar verdaderamente alegres por la Resurrección de Jesucristo, nuestro Señor. En este tiempo de Pascua que comienza,
debemos aprovechar todas las gracias que Dios nos da para crecer en nuestra fe y ser mejores cristianos. Vivamos con profundidad
este tiempo. Con el Domingo de Resurrección comienza un Tiempo pascual, en el que recordamos el tiempo que Jesús permaneció
con los apóstoles antes de subir a los cielos, durante la fiesta de la Ascensión.

El abuso sexual infantil se define como involucrar a un niño en actividad sexual para la que él o ella no está plenamente consciente, a
la que no puede dar su consentimiento informado, para la que el niño no está preparado o desarrollado, o que viola las leyes o los
tabúes sociales de la sociedad. Los niños están expuestos a sufrir abuso tanto por adultos como otros niños que se encuentren – por
virtud de su edad, etapa o desarrollo – en una posición de responsabilidad, confianza o poder sobre la víctima.

El primer día de
la semana, María
Magdalena fue al
sepulcro al
amanecer,
cuando aún
estaba oscuro, y
vio la losa quitada
del sepulcro.
Echó a correr y
fue donde estaba
Simón Pedro y el
otro discípulo, a
quien tanto
quería Jesús, y les
dijo: “Se han llevado del sepulcro al Señor y no
sabemos dónde lo han puesto.” Salieron Pedro y el
otro discípulo camino del sepulcro. Los dos corrían
juntos, pero el otro discípulo corría más que Pedro;
se adelantó y llegó primero al sepulcro; y,
asomándose, vio las vendas en el suelo; pero no
entró. Llegó también Simón Pedro detrás de él y
entró en el sepulcro: vio la vendas en el suelo y el
sudario con que le habían cubierto la cabeza, no por
el suelo con las vendas, sino enrollado en un sitio
aparte. Entonces entró también el otro discípulo, el
que había llegado primero al sepulcro; vio y creyó.
Pues hasta entonces no habían entendido la
Escritura: que él había de resucitar de entre los
muertos.
Reflexión Dominical
El Domingo de Pascua es un día para la búsqueda. Las primeras comunidades
cristianas se reunían alrededor de los ap6stoles para conocer mas sobre la vida
y el ministerio del Señor Jesús. San Pablo les dijo a los colosenses bautizados
que buscaran "las casas de arriba". Maria Magdalena fue a la tumba para
encontrar el cuerpo del Señor y ungirlo. Nosotros vamos a la iglesia el
Domingo de Pascua buscando muchas casas. Para algunos de nosotros, este es
un trayecto anual cuando buscamos conectarnos con el fundamento de la fe
cristiana. Para otros, este día es la culminaci6n de una larga trayectoria para el
arrepentimiento de la Cuaresma. Para los nuevas bautizados es el primer día de
una nueva vida llena de promesas y expectativas. No importa lo que sea que
busquemos, inspirémonos con la acci6n del discípulo amado de Jesús quien al
ver el sudario dentro de la tumba "vía y creyó".
