Good evening JL Long Buccaneer Family! This is your principal, Danielle Petters, with information for you about JL
Long events. Remember this message will also be posted on our PTA website, www.jllong.com.






Thank you to everyone! We had a really great week of STAAR testing last week. Our next round
of will be April, 23rd, 24th and 25th. Teachers and students will continue to work hard to be ready.
Parents if your child has been assigned tutoring please make sure that they are attending. If you
are not sure if your child should be attending tutoring and you feel they need some extra help in
the next few weeks, please contact their teachers.
Parents, we have an important message from our school nurse. All incoming 7th graders are
required to have 3 new vaccinations. If you have a 6th grader, please put this on your summer
“to do list” so that you don’t have to worry about it at the beginning of the next school year and
can avoid your child being sent home because they are not up to date with their immunizations.
Don’t forget about our PASE class this Thursday at 6 pm. Please meet in room 201. The topic this
week is “Collaborating with the Community”.
Also this Thursday we will have a “Meet ‘n Greet” for all incoming 6th grade students. If you
have an incoming 6th grader or know anyone who does we encourage you to come. Come learn
about our awesome school. You will also get a quick tour of our 6th grade classrooms.
This Friday is our 8th grade Spring Dance, the theme will be the “Harlem Shake”. There will be a
DJ, door prizes, pizza and a graffiti wall! Tickets are $5 and you must have your school Id to
attend. The dance will be in the boys and girls gyms from 8 to 10 pm.
Upcoming Event: The 2013 White Rock Spring Games are coming up, April 19th through the 21st.
The White Rock Spring Games celebrates our close-knit East Dallas Community by bringing
together kids and families from neighborhood schools for a night of fun and friendly
competition. To register a team and to get more information visit www.whiterockgames.com.
The money raised goes to all the participating schools.
And in Buccaneer Athletics this week:
 Monday the 8th through Thursday the 11th is our Volleyball clinic for all 6th grade girls who want
to play volleyball next year. The clinic is from 4:10 to 5:30 pm. Students must have their
permission slip to participate. Students must exit the building and re-enter through the side
parking lot door nearest the gym.
 This Monday April the 8th we have a boy’s baseball game against Hood MS. The game is at 5:30
pm at Samuel HS.
 This Thursday April 11th we have a girls softball game against Hood MS. The game is at Randall
Park at 5:45 pm.

Tuvimos una semana de pruebas muy buena y tranquila. Nuestra próxima ronda de pruebas
de STAAR será abril, 23, 24 y 25. Los maestros y los estudiantes seguirán trabajando duro
para estar listos. Padres si su hijo/hija fue asignado a tutoría asegúrense de que estén
asistiendo las tutorías. Si no está seguro si su hijo/hija debe estar asistiendo, comunícese con
los maestros.
Padres, tenemos un mensaje importante de la enfermera de nuestra escuela. Todos los
alumnos que estarán en el grado 7 el próximo año deben tener 3 vacunas nuevas. Pon esto
en tu "lista de tareas" para este verano para que usted no tenga que preocuparse de esto al
principio del próximo año escolar y evitar que su hijo/hija sea mandado a casa porque no las
tiene.

No se les olvide de nuestra clase del programa PASE este jueves. La clase es a las 6 pm en el cuarto
239. La clase esta semana será “Colaborando con la Comunidad”.

También este jueves tendremos una "Noche de Conocimiento" para todos los estudiantes que
entraran al 6 grado. Si usted tiene un estudiante o conoce a alguien que tiene un estudiante
que entrara al grado 6 el próximo año los animamos a asistir. Venga y aprenda sobre nuestra
escuela increíble. Usted también recibirá un gira por los salones del grado 6.
Este viernes habrá Baile de Primavera, para los estudiantes del grado 8. El tema es "Danza de
Harlem Shake". Habrá un DJ, premios, pizza y una pared de graffiti! Los boletos cuestan $ 5.
Todos los estudiantes deben tener su identificación de la escuela para entrar. El baile será en
los gimnasios de 8 a 10 pm.
Evento Importante: Los Juegos de primavera de White Rock del 2013 ya vienen, el 19 de abril
hasta el 21de abril. Los juegos de White Rock celebra nuestra unida Comunidad de East
Dallas, reuniendo a niños y familias de las escuelas del vecindario para una noche de
diversión y amistad. Para registrar un equipo y obtener más información, visite
www.whiterockgames.com. El dinero recaudado se destina a todas las escuelas participantes.






En Atletismo De Bucaneros esta semana:
Esta semana de lunes a jueves habrá clínica para todas las niñas del grado 6 que gusten
jugar voleibol el próximo año. La clínica es de 4:10 a 5:30 pm. Todos los estudiantes tienen
que tener su forma de permiso para participar.
Este lunes abril 8 habrá un juego de baseball de niños contra Hood MS. El juego es a las 5:30
pm en la escuela Samuel HS.
Este jueves abril 11 habrá juego de softball de niñas contra Hood MS. El juego es a las 5:45
pm en el parque de Randall.
