Dear Parents, I am writing to invite you to come and see the work your student has done on Project Citizen in our Fundamentals of American Democracy Class this semester. We will be having a Project Citizen Fair on May 19th from 5­6:30 PM (before the Awards night at 7PM). This fair will be an opportunity for your student to show off the work he or she has done with their group on Project Citizen. For this project, the students have worked collaboratively in a group with 3 to 5 of their classmates to identify a local issue or problem, analyze its causes and effects, evaluate different policy responses, and develop their own solution to the issue. In the process they have conducted surveys, interviewed public officials such as Mayor Stacy Bernot, worked with local non­profit organizations, researched policy ideas, and attended board meetings. They have put a tremendous amount of effort, time and focus into this project, and we wanted to give you an opportunity to see the results of their work. The fair will run from 5­6:30 PM on Monday May 19th in front of the Auditorium at the High School. There will be several community members who have volunteered to be honorary evaluators of the projects! Hace dos meses, su hijo(a) ha estado trabajando en un proyecto que se llama “Project Citizen”, en donde, collaboraron como grupo de 3 o 5 estudiantes de la clase y examinaron un asunto o problema en nuestra comunidad. El grupo analizo las causas del problema y desarollo una solucion. Esta presentacion es una oportunidad para ver el trabajo de su hijo(a) en este proyecto! La presentacion sera de las 5­6:30 de la tarde del 19 de Mayo en la escuela Roaring Fork. Todos estan invitados.
