Father in Heaven, We, the .
.
people in the land of the free ..
.
and the home of the brave,
.
.
desperately need You.
.
.
Oh that we would leave our .
.
.
ways of seeking to be
.
blessed and instead seek to ..
.
bless others. We beg for
.
.
Your guidance and wisdom .
.
.
for our leaders.
.
We ask You to protect our ..
.
land from enemies, both
.
within and without. And we ..
.
praise you for the freedom
.
.
we have through the blood of .
.
Your Son. May Your plan ..
be the desire of our nation. ..
A Prayer for America
Amen.

WHAT’S IN YOUR HEART?
When I am weak, Saint Paul said, “then I am strong.” Many have taken this
apparently contradictory statement to mean that in weakness is strength—that
weakness is strength. Paul, however, was not coming up with his own version of a
Beatitude—“those who are weak will be strong!” Rather he was pointing out
that despite his human weaknesses and what he has suffered, God’s power was still
working in him as an apostle of Jesus. Ask yourself, then, how God works through
you even with your limitations.
WHERE WE LIVE, SERVE,
& WALK TOGETHER IN FAITH.
ST. JOSEPH’S
PAG E TW O
FROM THE PASTOR
My Dear Parish Family,
Although it is the height of the summer and most of us
are in slowdown mode, life here at St. Joseph’s Parish is
running in high gear. The summer religious education
program kicked off last Sunday and we are more than
happy with the response and the enrollment of that
program. Responding to the challenge of Pope Francis to
think of faith formation in new ways, let us pray that this
summer program bears much fruit for the church. This
week is our Summer Vacation Bible School where the
youngest members of our parish are introduced to the life
of discipleship through prayer, education and fun activities. It
is good to hear the sounds of children on our campus even
in the midst of summer!
Speaking of summer, we are celebrating the 239 anniversary
of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence this
weekend. We pray this weekend, then, for the safety and
security of our nation and the rights and freedoms which
are secured in our founding documents.
This weekend we welcome our new parochial vicar, Father
Jerome Guld. Born in Philadelphia, Father Jerome attended
St. Joseph School (now St. Mary of the Lakes), Medford,
and Bishop Eustace Preparatory School, Pennsauken. A
graduate of Drexel University, Philadelphia, he worked at
ADP as a computer programmer but left the company to
fulfill another vocation: to care for his parents. After working
as a consultant for five years, Father entered the seminary
and was ordained a priest in May, 2014. He comes to us
from St. Dominic Parish in Brick. We wish him well and I
am most certain that he will find St. Joseph’s the warm
and welcoming parish it always is.
With blessings for a continued safe and peaceful summer,
Fr. Scott

St. Joseph’s Endowment Fund for Catholic Education
St. Joseph’s Church has established an endowment fund for
Donovan Catholic High School and St. Joseph Grade School to
ensure a viable financial future for the schools. As the fund grows,
the on-going interest from the principal amount can be used for
tuition assistance, enhancement of academic and religious
programs and facilities growth and maintenance. Every year the
Endowment Committee hosts an Endowment Reception at Eagle
Ridge Golf Course to help build the Endowment Fund. This year
the reception ($125 per person) will be held on September 25,
2015 and the Honorable James Courtney, Jr. will be the Honoree.
50/50 raffle tickets will be sold and the winner will be announced
at the reception. Raffle tickets are $20 each and will be sold in the
Gathering Space at St. Joseph’s Church the weekends of July 1819, August 29-30 and September 5-6. If all 600 tickets are sold
the winner will receive $6,000. Tickets can be paid for by check
made out to St. Joseph’s Endowment Fund or with $20 in cash.
Please consider buying a raffle ticket for this great cause!
