First Holy Communicants
Congratulations to our First Communicants! These First Holy Communion Masses, four in total, began on
Saturday April 30 through May 14. How Blessed are our young people who are receiving the sacrament of the
Eucharist for the first time in their lives! We will have a chance to pray with the First Communicants on the Feast of
The Body and Blood of the Lord, celebrated on May 29. So, I am inviting all our children who received First Holy
Communion to come to the 9:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday May 29 with their First Communion outfits on, to process with
us after the 9:30 Mass in an outdoor procession around the Church. I also invite all our children and Families and
parishioners who attend the 9:30 Mass as well as those who will attend the 11 o’clock Mass and all others to join
the procession between Masses. Last week I spoke about the power of Love. The power of forgiveness – ultimately
Love! Today’s gospel speaks again of how to love: “Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love
him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him.” JOHN 14:23
There are so many ways that we can invite the Lord to be in our lives. In this Easter Season we think of how we
try to integrate our lives modeling ourselves on the love which Jesus preached, lived and died for us!
Heartfelt Thanks to the Lions Club
On behalf of all in our Community I wish to give our heartfelt thanks to the Lions Club of Hampton Bays and
East Quogue for the very generous donation of an additional $500 this past week presented to Catherine, our
Outreach Coordinator and Mary, our Business Manager at the April Lions Club meeting. Thanks to Tony Villareale,
President and all the members of the LIONS CLUB who so generously support our most vulnerable in our community.
This donation will assist us in our Outreach and Food Pantry for needed food, rent and utility assistance. We
provide assistance to all people in our community, no matter what their faith.
Community Center Renovations Underway!
By the end of April, the new windows have been installed, replacing the old windows many of which were
cracked or broken. Please note that the memorials have been saved! Those loved ones remembered in 1956 in the
Community Center will be part of our remembrance in the finished renovation. We owe a great deal to those who
have built our parish and its legacy! The flooring and the lighting will be the next to get some attention. Harry
Regis, one of our own parishioners, an engineer by profession, has led a parish effort on an energy and power
audit working with Ocean Electric and Revco and with Deacon Chris in looking at power savings of the entire parish
plant. We are bringing the Community Center lighting into the 21st Century. Thanks so much Harry, Deacon Chris
and Team.
Bishop Murphy to Visit East End
Bishop Murphy will be celebrating the 11 a.m. Mass at St. Rosalie's on Sunday May 22 in this Year of Mercy.
Please join us. He will also celebrate the 12 noon Mass at Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Basilica on Ascension
Thursday, May 5. We will be taking the upper grades from OLH on a Pilgrimage to the Ascension Day Mass to the
Basilica.
Parish Gala, July 9
The annual Parish Gala will be Saturday, July 9 this year. By popular demand, Scotto’s has again been chosen
to cater this wonderful event. More information to follow!
Continued Easter Joy and Peace during this Season,

The Lazarus Bereavement Support Program
at St. Rosalie’s Church
We have all suffered the loss of someone near and very dear to us. It may have
been a spouse, child, parent, sibling or friend. Often our grief can be so devastating
that we may feel completely lost and alone.
The Program
The Lazarus Bereavement Support Program is a seven-week program in which
healing can begin. It provides members with an opportunity to understand grief in a
way that rebuilds our identity and strengthens our faith in ourselves and in our Lord.
Now in its fifth year, the Lazarus Bereavement Support Program helps members to
understand that grief is experienced in each person differently, and that it often
takes a very long time for the pain to heal. Participants will learn strategies for
dealing with grief, and will receive (and give) valuable group support and
fellowship throughout the healing process.
Who Should Attend
Anyone who has experienced grief will be enriched by attending. The Lazarus Bereavement Support Program
at St. Rosalie's Church will meet on Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. in the Parish Center, beginning May 3, 2016, for
seven sessions over eight weeks. We will not meet on May 10. Co-facilitators Dr. Christopher Hayes and Father
Kevin Thompson, assisted by Deacon Chris Ervin, invite all interested parties to call the Parish Center at 631-7289461. Please register now before the maximum enrollment is reached. There are no fees or expenses to
participate. This is a Church-sponsored opportunity to heal.

clases. Para más información llame a la Hna. Mary (631728-5558).

Lenten Mite Box Donations
Sincere thanks and blessings to all
those parishioners and children in our
religious formation program for their
sacrifice and very generous donations
during our Lenten mite box activity.
Through your efforts we raised almost $9,300, which is 6% more than
last year!!
$1,000 from the religious formation
donations are being donated to the
Catholic Near East Welfare Association
to help alleviate the refugee crisis stemming from the violence in that region. This
charity was selected by the students last
year. Another $2,300 is being donated
to Catholic Relief Services with a request
that they likewise use it to address refugee needs in that region. The remaining
funds exceeding $6000 will be used to
help meet the ongoing needs of our food
pantry and other parish outreach efforts.
Once again, thank you for your generosity and thank you to the Committee for
the Common Good for coordinating this
effort.
We also want to express our
gratitude to the staff at M&T Bank
in Hampton Bays, who let us use their
automated coin sorter again to process several thousands of dollars in
coins. This saved us several hours of
time.
