Ela volta na Quinta cuenta la historia de María José y Norberto, quienes llevan 35 años de casados y viven en Contagem,
en los suburbios de Belo Horizonte. Su relación está en crisis. A pesar de sus problemas de salud, María José decide
irse de vacaciones a Aparecida do Norte para intentar dilucidar si el divorcio es la mejor solución. Norberto se queda en
casa y tiene una confrontación con su amante.
El matrimonio entre María José y Norberto influye en las
vidas de sus dos hijos, Renato y André. El primero quiere
casarse y tener hijos, mientras que el segundo piensa en irse
de casa para vivir junto a su novia.
La película sigue el concepto de los films anteriores de André Novais Oliveira, Ghosts y About a Month, en los que la
puesta en escena está centrada en planos básicos y diálogos naturalistas que surgen del día a día de los personajes,
quienes están basados en personas reales.
She Comes Back on Thursday tells the story of María José
and Norberto, who have been married for 35 years and live
Contagem, in the suburbs of Belo Horizonte. They are having
a crisis in their relationship. Maria José decides to go on vacation to Aparecida do Norte, despite her health problems, to
try to figure out if divorce is the best solution. Norberto stays
home and has a confrontation with his lover.
María José and Norberto´s marriage influences the lives of
their two sons, Renato and André. The former wants to marry
and have kids, while the latter is thinking about leaving the
house to live with his girlfriend.
The film follows the concept of André Novais Oliveira’s previous films, Ghosts and About a Month, in which the mise en
scene is centered on basic shots and naturalistic dialogue
that comes from the everydayness of the characters, which
are based on real people.

alrededor del mundo. Su último cortometraje, About a Month,
fue seleccionado para la 45º Quincena de Realizadores, y obtuvo
una mención especial del jurado del Illy Prize. Ela volta na Quinta
es su primer largometraje.
Produce películas desde 2007, y es socio en Filmes de Plástico desde 2011. Es responsable de los proyectos Elon Rabin
Doesn’t Believe in Death, de Ricardo Alvez Jr. (premiado en el
BAL en 2012), The Hidden Tiger, de Affonso Uchoa, y About a
Month, de André Novais Oliveira.
His films have been selected in more than 100 film festivals
around the world. His latest short film, About a Month, was selected for the 45th Director’s Fortnight, and was awarded with a
Special Mention by the Illy Prize jury. She Comes Back on Thursday is his first feature film.
He has produced films since 2007, and has been a partner in
the production company Filmes de Plástico since 2011. He is
responsible for the projects Elon Rabin Doesn’t Believe in Death
by Ricardo Alves Jr. (project awarded at BAL in 2012), The Hidden Tiger directed by Affonso Uchoa, and André Novais Oliveira’s
About a Month.

Esta es una película en la que, si bien los personajes representan a personas reales, la narración y la estética aparecen como
algo completamente ficcional. Cuenta la historia de la relación
en crisis de una pareja mayor y cómo esta afecta las vidas de
sus dos hijos. Trata sobre mi familia, y a la vez no. Trata sobre las
diferentes etapas de la vida, pero también es sobre la muerte,
ya sea física o de cosas o sentimientos. También trata sobre la
profunda soledad de la gente incapaz de lidiar con sus propios
miedos y deseos; de gente que busca compañía. Habla sobre la
ciudad, pero de forma sincera y sin emitir juicios. Trata sobre la
vida cotidiana.
This is a film where, even though the characters represent real
people, the narrative and the way of filming is completely fictional.
It tells the story of an elderly couple’s relationship in crisis and
how it affects the lives of their two sons. It’s about my family and,
at the same time, it’s not. It’s about the several stages of life,
but it’s also about death, be it physical or the death of things or
feelings. It’s also about the deep loneliness of people who cannot
deal with their own fears and desires, who look for company. It
talks about society, but in a sincere, non-judgmental way. It is
about everyday life.

Un año después de la muerte de su padre en México, Víctor
regresa a Buenos Aires con el objetivo de reconquistar la
vida que se vio obligado a abandonar. En su vuelta, Víctor
trae consigo un trabajo para su antigua compañía de teatro:
realizar una serie latinoamericana de radioteatros grabando
un piloto de la última obra que realizaron juntos, Trabajos de
amor en vano, de William Shakespeare, en la que él supo
interpretar el rol de la princesa de Francia. Cinco actrices, a
quienes él conoce demasiado bien, lo esperan para empezar
las labores: su novia, Paula, que desde hace doce meses
pretende serle fiel; su amante, Ana, que duda de la verdad
de su amor; su ex, Natalia, que piensa que sigue siendo la
preferida; su amiga, Lorena, que sueña con quererlo un poco
de más; y Carla, un vago recuerdo que después de todo
puede llegar a ser su próximo amor. Así, el trabajo reúne a
estas cinco mujeres, que rodean a Víctor con intenciones de
trabajar el destino sentimental de esta particular princesa.
Entre el teatro y la radio, el tiempo del trabajo se vuelve el
tiempo para la reconquista de amores perdidos.
A year after the death of his father in Mexico, Victor returns
to Buenos Aires in order to reconquer the life he was forced
to abandon. Back in home town, Victor brings with him a
new project for his former theater company: a Latin American radio-play based on the comedy they all have worked
together last, Love’s Labour’s Lost by William Shakespeare.
Five actresses, whom he knows maybe too well, are waiting for him to start the labours: his girlfriend , Paula, who
promised to remain faithful to him; his lover, Ana, who doubts
about the truth of his love; his ex, Natalia, who believes that
she’s still his preferred affection; his friend, Lorena, who
dreams of taking their relationship a step further up, and
Carla, a stranger who after all could be his next true love. The
project gathers these five women that surround Victor with
the intention to change the sentimental faith of this particular princess. Between theater and radio, the time of working
soon becomes a time to labour lost loves.

se trasladó a Estados Unidos para realizar la beca Radcliffe de

una nueva beca en la Universidad de Nueva York. Sus películas
son El hombre robado (2007), Todos mienten (2009), Rosalinda
(2010) y Viola (2012).
He was born in Buenos Aires in 1982. He studied in Universidad del Cine, where he teached Filmmaking and Film History. In
2011, he moved to the U.S. to undertake the Radcliffe Institute
Fellowship at Harvard University. Today, he lives in New York under a new fellowship at New York University. His films include El
hombre robado (2007), Todos mienten (2009), Rosalinda (2010)
and Viola (2012).
Nació en Buenos Aires en 1987. Complementó sus estudios en
la Universidad del Cine con cursos en Nueva York. Entre 2009 y
2012 produjo numerosos cortometrajes que participaron en diferentes festivales internacionales. En 2011 produjo Viola, película
escrita y dirigida por Matías Piñeiro, y junto con él está desarrollando el proyecto Isabella.
She was born in Buenos Aires in 1987. She completed her studies
at Universidad del Cine and she also studied in several institutions
in New York City. Between 2009 and 2012 she produced numerous short films that participated in various international film festivals. In 2011 she produced Viola, written and directed by Matías
Piñeiro. They are developing together a project called Isabella.

La princesa de Francia es parte de un proyecto a largo plazo que
vengo desarrollando desde 2010 titulado “Las Shakespereadas”. Se trata de una serie de películas de diferentes formatos
y duraciones que recorren el mundo de los personajes femeninos de las comedias de William Shakespeare en un universo
contemporáneo y argentino. La princesa de Francia es el tercer
episodio de dicha serie, y mezcla la ficción teatral con las vidas
de las actrices que la interpretan. La película trabaja con una noción de identidad nacional profanadora e inclusiva, trasladando
uno de los mayores cánones de la cultura inglesa a un español
rioplatense de hoy, que incorpora nuevas fronteras y permite
decir: “Esto también me pertenece”.
The Princess of France is part of a long-term project I have been
developing since 2010, entitled “The Shakespereads”. It is a series of films of different formats and lengths that work around
the female roles in the comedies of William Shakespeare in a
contemporary Argentine universe. The Princess of France is the
third episode of this series that fuses the world of theater with
the lives of the actresses involved in the plays.
The task of translating Shakespeare into film is a challenge that
questions not only the limits of what film form can be, but also
what “Nationality” implies. By translating one of the major canons of English culture into a present Río de la Plata Spanish, I
intend to incorporate new frontiers that allow me to say: “This
also belongs to me”.

Un hombre pobre entrado en sus setenta vive solo en una
casa cerca de la playa en el sur de México. No cuenta con
el título de propiedad de la casa, y un extranjero la reclama
como suya. El hombre asiste a la audiencia para resolver el
conflicto, pero nada se resuelve. Mientras tanto, comienza a
volverse loco. Distintos recuerdos de su pasado comienzan
a perseguirlo día a día. El hombre termina perdiendo la propiedad de su casa, la cual es demolida. Emprende un viaje
a la sierra para encontrarse con gente que conoció en el
pasado, pero el recuerdo de sí mismo cuando era joven lo
persigue durante su travesía. Finalmente se encuentra con
la gente que conocía, pero no hay nadie con quien pueda
quedarse, por lo que continúa vagando a través del bosque
y sus recuerdos.
A poor man in his mid-seventies lives alone in a house near
the beach in the south of Mexico. He doesn’t have the land
deed to the property and a foreign man claims the land is his.
He attends a hearing to resolve the conflict, but nothing gets
resolved. During this time he starts losing his mind. Memories of the past start hunting his daily life. He ends up losing
his property and his house gets demolished. He embarks on
a journey to the mountains in search of people he knew in
the past. A memory of his younger self hunts him throughout
the trip. He ends up finding some people he knew, but no
one he can stay with, so he continues wandering through the
forest and into his memories.

His films have been screened in festivals all over the world such

Los ausentes muestra a un hombre cuando este pierde su tierra.
El énfasis de la película estará puesto en el proceso psicológico
del personaje y en su cotidianidad en el espacio que habita. Para
este hombre, que tiene setenta y cuatro años, la pérdida de la
tierra es el primer paso hacia la muerte. Sus sentidos se alteran
y la memoria lo traiciona. El hombre está solo en el mundo. En
su viaje hacia la muerte lo acompañan sus recuerdos encarnados en un joven militar que vuelve a casa.
Quería hacer una película sobre la tierra y el espacio que el personaje estaba a punto de perder. Me interesaba filmar el cuerpo
del hombre como un recipiente del espacio y el tiempo.
The Absent shows a man in the process of losing his land. The
film emphasizes the everyday and the psychological process
that the character undergoes. For this character, a man in his
mid seventies, the loss of the land is the first step to his death.
His senses are altered and his memory betrays him. The man
is alone in the world. On his journey towards death, only his
memories keep him company in the shape of a young soldier
returning home.
I wanted to make a film about the land and the space that the
character was about to lose. I was interested in filming the man’s
body as the receptacle of space and time.

Lucas y Ludmila son dos chicos enamorados que viven en
la calle. Se mueven por la ciudad como si fuera un juego de
mesa. Lucas trabaja con su amigo camionero Hueso recolectando el cebo de las carnicerías. En su tiempo libre comete delitos menores y dispara su pistola a monumentos urbanos. Ludmila está en silla de ruedas por una bala alojada
cerca de su columna. Tiene un hermanito al que va a buscar
a la escuela y una familia a la cual no quiere ver. Lucas se
entusiasma con la infinidad de posibilidades a su alrededor y la impunidad que le da el amor. Después de algunos
desencuentros, Ludmila decide volver a su casa familiar.
Lucas queda solo en la ciudad con su pistola y sin lugar
adonde ir.
Lucas and Ludmila are two street kids in love with each other
and with the city they live in. They move through the place
as if it where their own board game, with the overwhelming sensation of love in every action. Lucas works with his
truck driver friend, Hueso, picking up all the leftovers from
the city butcher shops in a big red truck. In his spare time
with Ludmila he shoots at monuments and sculptures with
his gun and commits small crimes just for entertainment.
Ludmila is in a wheel chair due to a bullet lodged very close
to her spinal cord. She has a little brother and a family she
does not want to go back to. Lucas is carried away by all the
possibilities around him while Ludmila starts walking again
and waits for him to come back every day. Soon she goes
back to her family and sick father. Lucas is left alone in the
street with his gun and nowhere to go.

Nació en Buenos Aires en 1985. Trabajó en la producción de películas como En el camino, de Walter Salles, y There Be Dragons, de
Roland Joffés, y ahora se encuentra trabajando en la posproducción de su segundo largometraje como productor y desarrollando
otros proyectos.
Born in 1985 in Buenos Aires, he studied film production at ENERC. He has worked in production of feature films such as Walter
Salles´ On The Road, and Roland Joffé’s There Be Dragons. He is
currently in post-production of his second film as a producer, and
developing other projects.

Alienados por la felicidad y ensamblados con el mundo a través
del amor, Lucas y Ludmila forman parte de una historia inmune
a la realidad. La consumación enajenada de hechos gratuitos,
sin poesía, sería violencia. Pero un arma en manos de alguien
incapaz de matar invierte la lógica del crimen. Disparamos para
celebrar, para ahuyentar las moscas. Robamos a mano armada
y le regalamos el dinero a la cajera. Donde hay libertad no hay
peligro, pero si se disipa el amor aparece la policía.
Alienated by happiness, joined to the world through love, Lucas
and Ludmila are part of a story that is immune to reality. Consummation divested of gratuitous actions, without poetry, will
become violence. But a weapon in the hands of someone incapable of killing inverts the logic of crime. We shoot to celebrate,
to drive away the flies. We rob with weapon in hand and we
give the money to the cashier. Where there is liberty there is no
danger, but if love dissipates, the police will appear.
