In this Sunday’s gospel (Mark 10:46-52), we are told that
Barmaeus was a blind man, siAng by the roadside begging (v.46). When he was given an opportunity meet
Jesus, Barmaeus begged, “‘Rabbi, I want to see.'” (v.51)
Barmaeus’ profession of faith and miracle is an
example of spiritual passion, hunger, and focus in
seeking out Jesus. Take a moment to do this mental
exercise. Imagine Jesus looking at you and saying to
you: "What do you want me to do for you?"
And you would reply:
"Lord, let me ___________________________ ."
Everyone can hear what Jesus says. Everyone can
pray. Everyone can give. Everyone can think. Everyone
can respond to God’s love. Everyone can carry out
Jesus’ new commandment: “I give you a new
commandment: love one another. As I have loved you,
so you also should love one another.” John 13:34.
EL RINCON DEL PADRE HAI
En el Evangelio de este domingo (San Marcos 10,
46-52), se nos dice que Barmeo era un ciego, sentado
junto al camino mendigando (v.46). Cuando se le dio la
oportunidad de conocer a Jesús, Barmeo grito pidiéndole “’ Maestro quiero recobrar la vista.’” (v.51)
La profesión de fe de Barmeo y el milagro de su vista
es un ejemplo de pasión espiritual, inmenso deseo, y el
enfoque de seguir a Jesús. Tomen un momento para
hacer este ejercicio mental. Imagina a Jesús mirándote
y diciéndote "¿Que quieres que haga por ?”
Y tu respuesta sería:
“Señor, déjame _____________________________.”
Todo el mundo puede escuchar lo que Jesús dice.
Todo el mundo puede orar. Todo el mundo puede dar.
Todo el mundo puede pensar. Todo el mundo puede
responder al amor de Dios. Todo el mundo puede llevar
a cabo el mandamiento nuevo de Jesús: “Les doy este
mandamiento nuevo: “Que se amen los unos a los otros.
Así como yo los amo a ustedes, así deben amarse
ustedes los unos a los otros.” (Juan 13, 34.)

We will have a special prayer service in memory of the parishioners of St. Thomas More who died between November 1st of
2014 through November 1st of 2015. The service will be held on
Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 7:30 pm in the Church. Please
make plans to attend and join us in prayer to remember our loved
ones who have passed away this last year.

MEDICAL MISSION: The Medical Mission team from

STM Woman’s ACTS Ministry Team will be hosting a
Garage Sale on Saturday, November 7, 2015 in the Old

Garage Sale will be used to offset expenses occurred for
the upcoming 2016 STM Woman’s ACT Retreat. The
Retreat is scheduled for January 14 - 17, 2016, located

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
My name is Sonia Martinez, and I am
very excited to be joining the Saint Thomas
More Church Family. I am currently a student at the
University of Houston working on a Master’s of Social
Work. I am the new intern and will be here through May. I
received a Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies from the
University of Texas in El Paso and recently completed the
Substance Abuse Counseling program at San Jacinto
College. I believe that we are all called to a life of service.
1 Peter 4:10 tells us, “Each of you should use whatever gift
you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of
God’s grace in its various forms.” I have been a volunteer
with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for the past
seven years and have volunteered in my church as a care
group leader and in the children’s program. As an intern, I
will work primarily with the Parishioner Assistance
Ministry and hope to work with the other Saint Thomas
More Ministries as well. The intern office is located in the
Youth Center, and my office hours through December are
Tuesdays from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and Thursdays from
8:00 am – 12:00 pm. I am grateful for the learning
opportunity Saint Thomas More will provide me, and I look
forward to meeting you over the next few months.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo:
Mi nombre es Sonia Martínez, y estoy muy contenta de
unirme a la familia de la Iglesia de Saint Thomas More.
Actualmente soy una estudiante de la Universidad de
Houston haciendo una Maestría en Trabajo Social. Yo soy
la nueva interna y estaré aquí hasta mayo. Recibí un Título
en Estudios Interdisciplinarios en la Universidad de Texas
en El Paso y recientemente completé un Programa de
Consejería de Abuso de Sustancias en el Colegio
Comunitario de San Jacinto. Creo que todos estamos
llamados a una vida de servicio. 1 Pedro 4:10 nos dice:
«Cada uno ponga al servicio de los demás el don que haya
recibido, administrando fielmente la gracia de Dios en sus
diversas formas.» He sido voluntaria en el Departamento
de Justicia Criminal de Texas durante los últimos siete años
y he sido asistente en mi iglesia como líder de grupo y en el
programa infantil. Como pasante, voy a trabajar principalmente en el Ministerio de Ayuda al Feligrés y espero
participar también en los demás ministerios de Saint
Thomas More. La oficina de pasantía se encuentra en el
Centro de la Juventud, y mis horas de trabajo hasta
diciembre son los martes de 10:00 am a 5:00 pm y los
jueves de 8:00 am a 12:00 pm. Estoy muy agradecida por la

Corinne Crenshaw has been a teacher
for 40 years, 38 years as Kindergarten
Teacher. She has a Bachelor of Science
from Sam Houston University and a
Masters of Educaon from the
University of St. Thomas. Mrs. Crenshaw has two children,
a daughter and a son. Her daughter, Mrs. Moreno, teaches
Religion in the Preschool and Kindergarten at STM. She
has two grandchildren that are the apple of her eye.
Mrs. Crenshaw loves to travel, bake, and work with arts
and cra^s. Mrs. Crenshaw says “I love teaching at STM
because it is so warm and friendly. When you make a
friend here at STM, it is for life. Teaching kindergarten is so
rewarding because I love watching all the “light bulbs” turn
on when they grasp the new ideas.

ESL CLASSES(REGULAR & SUBSTITUTE)
Our parish provides ESL (English as a Second Language)
classes to the community on Tuesday & Thursday
evenings, 7 - 9 pm, in the STM Parish School.
If you can Volunteer at least one evening a week to this
worthwhile endeavor, or be a Substitute, please contact

You do not need to speak Spanish! A training session will
be provided for new teachers at no cost.
