In many cultures and nations the feast of the Epiphany is when Christians exchange gifts, and it
celebrates when Jesus was fully revealed to the nations. We celebrate in the U.S. with promises for a new
year. On Epiphany the nations of the Earth come to witness the birth of Jesus. It seems like every year
our parish invites more nations to the Eucharistic feast. Every month we have mass in English, Spanish
and Tagalog (Filipino). Sometime soon we will begin a monthly mass in Swahili. This is the language of
the Kenyan community that has been meeting here for the last year. The international nature of our community reflects
a richness of faith, a wondrous tapestry of peoples; for all nations come to adore the
divine babe born in Bethlehem, Jesus, our Savior and Lord.

Citizenship Preparation Classes
The Crosier Community of Phoenix is hosting a of citizenship classes for
those interested in learning the basics of becoming a U.S. citizen, and for those
wishing to develop their English skills. The series runs for six consecutive Saturdays and includes preparation for the exam and interview. Classes are conducted in English by Br. Jim Lewandowski, osc, who has worked as an immigrant advocate and is an accredited representative by the Board of Immigration
Appeals. The first class begins Jan. 10 from 9am until 10:30am at 4423 N. 24th
St., in Phoenix. Classes are free (with a single $7 fee for materials). For more

Marriage Prep Orientation Seminar
Congratulations on your engagement! The marriage preparation process takes nine months in the Diocese of Phoenix and it all starts by
attending a required marriage preparation orientation seminar. We will
have two seminars in January: one in English and the other in Spanish. Both will be held on Saturday, January 10th in Patterson Hall. The
English session will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the Spanish will begin at
2pm. You will receive an overview of the process at the seminar and
take the FOCCUS – a questionnaire designed to facilitate communication. The bride and groom must both attend to fulfill step one of
the preparation. We ask that you make arrangements for child-care as
the questionnaire will require your undivided attention. Some couples
take longer than others to fill it out so we can’t tell you the exact time
you will finish, however most couples finish within 3 hours.
Diocesan Scout Retreat
Calling all Scouts! You are invited to attend the “Walk in the Son-2015,
Seek and You Will Find” scout retreat on Saturday, February 7 at the
Heard Scout Pueblo at South Mountain. Camping is available Friday
and Saturday nights. Don’t miss out on this wonderful faith-filled retreat where our Catholic scouts have a chance to learn more about
their faith while participating in fun outdoor activities. Scout troops,

Interested in Becoming a Permanent Deacon?
Bishop Olmsted has approved the formation of a new formation cohort with the anticipated ordination in the fall of 2020. Four information sessions are scheduled over the next few months for men who
would like to find out more about the process of becoming a Deacon.
You and your wife will have a chance to meet with Dcn. Doug Bogart, Associate Director of Education and Formation for the Diaconate in the Diocese of Phoenix. An overview of the formation process will be presented and you will have the opportunity to meet with
others who are experiencing the call to ministry.

En la Epifanía las naciones
de la tierra vienen a presenciar el nacimiento de Jesús.
Parece que cada año nuestra
parroquia invita a más
naciones a la fiesta eucarística. Cada mes tenemos misa
en Inglés, español y tagalog
(filipino). En algún momento pronto comenzaremos
una misa mensual en swahili. Este es el lenguaje de la

Clases de ciudadanía
para comenzar 10 de enero
La comunidad Cruzada de Phoenix está
organizando su serie de clases de ciudadanía para aquellos interesados en
aprender los conceptos básicos de convertirse en un ciudadano de los Estados
Unidos, y para aquellos que deseen desarrollar sus habilidades en inglés. La
serie tiene una duración de seis sábados
consecutivos. La información proporcionada incluirá la preparación para el
examen y la entrevista. Las clases se dan
en Inglés por el hermano Jim Lewandowski, osc, que ha trabajado como defensor de inmigrantes y es un representante acreditado por la Junta de
Apelaciones de Inmigración. La primera

El proceso de preparación matrimonial en la
Diócesis de Phoenix se
demora nueve meses y
comienza con un taller
de introducción al proceso. Ofreceremos dos
talleres en enero. Uno
será en inglés y el otro
en español. Ambos
serán el sábado, 10 de
enero en el salón Patterson. El taller en inglés comenzará a las
9:30 a.m., y el taller en
español comenzará a
las 2:00 p.m. Se les explicará todo el proceso
de preparación en el
taller y llenaran el FOCCUS, el cual es un
cuestionario diseñado
para facilitar la comunicación entre la pareja.
Ambos novios deberán
asistir para cumplir con
el primer paso requerido para la preparación.
No podrán tomar el
FOCCUS si traen a sus
hijos ya que el cuestionario requiere su atención completa. No le
podemos decir la hora
exacta en que terminaremos ya que cada pareja es diferente, pero la
mayoría de las parejas
terminarán en menos
de tres horas.
