Dear Parishioners,
Queridos Feligreses,
Thanks to all who attended the
Town Hall meetings last week-end
concerning our parish’s future
through Connected in the Spirit.
Again, I want to affirm our Core
team for a job well done. Now, we
submit our recommendation (that
we will look for opportunities to
partnership with Saint Monica and
Saint Michael Parishes).
In November the Archdiocesan Planning
Commission will inform us if they
will accept our recommendation or
if they want something more extensive.
Les agradezco a todos que asistieron a las
reuniones parroquiales el domingo
pasado acerca de las estructuras futuras
para las parroquias en Indianapolis. De
nuevo afirmar al equipo del Conectado
en el Espíritu por sus esfuerzos en este

No doubt you have noticed a new
format for our bulletin. I thank
Aaron Thomas for creating the new
format. I hope that this will remind
us that we are one bilingual community, seeing our announcements/
communications side by side. It is
important for us to thank Margaret
Kennedy, who has done our bulletin
for many years. We have appreciated her service to the parish. Of
course, Margaret continues her volunteer service to the parish in maintaining the sacramental and historical records of the parish and the parish newsletter.
Please note that on the week-end of
Sept. 29, we will celebrate the Feast
day of Saint Gabriel. This will be a
special celebration for the parish.
All of our newly trained liturgical
ministers will be commissioned at
the week-end Masses as well.
Please mark your calendars and invite neighbors to our parish for this
special week-end.

Pew Envelopes are provided for the second
collections until they can be inserted into
the monthly packets.

parish. Building Fund collections support
current projects such as the vestibule
roof ($2,500), parking lot repairs and
sealing ($13,500).
Maintenance Fund
supports the ongoing projects such as
maintenance for AC, machinery,
etc. Capitol Improvements is to develop
a savings account for replacement of
systems (such as roof, boiler, AC,
etc.)
Debt reduction is to enable the
parish to make its monthly payment of
$2,500 for our $784,000 debt. Thank you

Reviving our Spiritual Base: Renovando nuestro Base Espiritual:

In just a few weeks, we will continue the rich
tradition of Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP)
with a Women's retreat (Spanish-speaking)
on September 21-22 and Men's retreat
(Spanish-speaking) on October 26-27.
What many may not know, is the CRHP was
founded in the USA to help people in the pews
get to know one another and re-engage in their
faith.
St. Gabriel started CRHP in English, in 1985
or so, with much involvement from Sr.
Timothy Kavanaugh. However, several years
ago, the retreats fizzled out in English. Later,
Fr. Oscar Anguiano from Holy Spirit parish
brought CRHP to the Spanish-speaking of our
parish.
From time-to-time, parishioners ask, "Why
do we not have more opportunities for spiritual
renewal...why don't we revive CRHP in
English?"
Why not? I think it's a great idea! Several
men and women of our parish have never
experienced such a weekend.
Help me get CHRP started again in English
so that we can revive our Spiritual base. If

En solamente unas semanas, seguiremos la
tradición rica de Cristo Renueva Su Parroquia
con un Retiro de Mujeres en 21-22
Septiembre y Retiro de Hombres on 26-27
Octubre (ambos en Español) .
Lo que muchos no saben es que CRSP fue
fundado en EE.UU. para ayudar personas en
las bancas conocer uno al otro y
comprometerse en su Fe catolica.
San Gabriel empezó CRSP en ingles en 1985
con mucha ayuda de Sor Timothy Kavanaugh.
Pero hace muchos años los retiros se acabaron
en ingles. Hace 7 años el P. Oscar Anguiano
del Espíritu Santo trajo CRSP a los
hispanohablantes de la parroquia.
Numerosos de nuestra parroquia nunca han
experimentado un fin de semana de retiro.
Aveces el trabajo pone obstaculos en asistir.
Sin embargo, TODOS necesitamos
renovacion espiritual. Les invito a considerar
esta oportunidad que les esperan.
Toman el tiempo para partir de las
preocupaciones diarias y reflexionar sobre su
vida, familia, y relación con Jesucristo.
Es GRATIS y por los numerosos grupos que
vienen a servir las comidas, van a comer muy

Reminder: class is to attend the 9:00 am mass
on Sunday, September 29 to receive a special
blessing from Fr. Michael. There will be
breakfast following the mass that will include
a meeting for final instructions.

Registration and parent/student informational
meeting was held last Sunday. If you missed
the meeting and want to be confirmed this
year, please stop by the parish office and
complete a registration form.
It is the policy at St. Gabriel to confirm
students entering 9th grade (high school) and
older. Everyone’s faith journey is their own.
Please contact Teresa Keith in the Office of
Faith Formation for consideration into the
program that may be an exception to the
parish guideline.

First Communion
All students preparing to receive First
Communion this year are to attend the
monthly retreat days in addition to the
Thursday or Sunday classes. The first class
for First Communion was held Saturday
(9/14). If you missed it please contact Teresa.
