The Board of Trustees and the entire Brentwood staff wishes to

AARP Driver Safety’s
Top 100 Host Award
Congratulations to the Teen Team Members who did so well in
the county’s annual Battle of the Books competition recently held
in the library this spring. This was the second year our team
competed and they made us very proud!
We are also honored to have received the AARP Driver Safety Top
100 Host Award. From more than 18,000 organizations nationwide,
the library was cited in the top 50 for supporting AARP Driver
Safety programs.
From babies to seniors, we are part of the life cycle of Brentwood,
and look forward to seeing you at our coming programs and events.

participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac,

program teach skills that participants need to know to give
immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more

make sure to bring lunch. Program is all day, teens will

Brentwood since Verne Dyson’s A Century of Brentwood was published in the 1950s. While most of the images used in Brentwood were
supplied by the Brentwood Public Library from its History Collection, others were provided by various collectors and organizations.
Brentwood reveals a look at our community’s growth from Thompson Station and Modern Times to today. Other chapters focus on St.
Joseph’s Convent and Academy, Pilgrim State Hospital, and the Brentwood School District.
Jason is a local, life-long resident, a past member and historian of the Brentwood Historical Society, and is currently a member of Phi Alpha
Theta Historical Honor Society, and the Bay Shore Historic Society.

were honored by the American Red Cross on Long Island at
the Crest Hollow County Club in Woodbury, NY on Saturday,
March 1, 2014. The library received the Outstanding Community
Organization Award for having made a significant humanitarian
contribution to the local community in support of the American
Red Cross. Mrs. Vollmer was awarded the prestigious Clara
