Para el calor... gazpacho
[Healthy and refeshing. In the heat... try gazpacho]
El gazpacho es un bebida muy propia del verano y muy española. Aunque hay muchas formas de prepararlo, la
base fundamental es el tomate, al que normalmente se le añaden cebolla, pepino, pimiento, miga de pan, aceite, agua y sal.
Luego cada uno puede darle su toque personal en forma de cominos, ajo, etc.
Lo que en cualquier caso es seguro es que esta mezcla de vegetales, que se toma muy fría, supone un importante aporte de
agua, vitaminas (A, C y E), minerales (potasio, sodio y magnesio), antioxidantes y algo de fibra para el organismo. Lo habitual es que el producto lleve vinagre por lo que el pH final es relativamente bajo y esto facilita, por un lado la absorción de
minerales, y por otro limita la proliferación de microorganismos, que debido a la acidez no pueden crecer en condiciones
óptimas.
Se trata de un más que digno representante de la dieta mediterránea. Hidrata, alimenta, tiene mucho sabor y encima
es poco calórico… ¿Qué más se puede pedir? Este verano todos a consumir gazpacho…
por cierto, el de Botín está para chuparse los dedos.
Gazpacho is a drink which is both ideal for summer and very Spanish.Although there are many
ways of preparing it, the fundamental base is tomato, to which onion, cucumber, peppers, breadcrumbs,
olive oil, water and salt are then added.At this point each individual can add their personal
touch such as cumin, garlic, etc.

What is clear is that this mixture of vegetables which is typically enjoyed very
cold is an important source of water, vitamins (A, C and E), minerals (potassium, sodium and magnesium), anti-oxidants and fibre for the body. It is also
common for the product to include vinegar which means that the overall pH is
relatively low facilitating on the one hand the absorption of minerals and on
the other limiting the spread of microorganisms, which due to its acidity cannot grow in optimum conditions.

It is a worthy representative of the Mediterranean diet. It hydrates, nourishes, is

El pasado 2 de mayo, fiesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, la presidenta regional, Esperanza Aguirre, entregó las Medallas de la
Comunidad así como la Gran Cruz de la Orden del 2 de mayo. En esta
ocasión, la Medalla de Oro fue, a título póstumo, para el presidente de
honor de Vocento y ABC, el recientemente fallecido periodista Guillermo
Luca de Tena, así como para la Orden Hospitalaria de San Juan de Dios.
En cuanto a los distinguidos con la Gran Cruz de la Orden del 2 de
mayo, en esta ocasión fueron el sindicalista y político Nicolas Redondo,
la actriz y empresaria Lina Morgan, el ciclista Alberto Contador, el fundador de la CEIM José Antonio Segurado, y la presidenta de las
Juventudes Musicales de Madrid, Isabel Falabella.
Botin, entre otros, también fue premiado en la persona de su director
gerente, Antonio González Gómez, con la Medalla de Plata, distinción
por la que toda la familia Botín se siente muy honrada y agradecida. La
presidenta tuvo cariñosas y elogiosas palabras para el Restaurante Botín
así como para el resto de los premiados.
El acto tuvo lugar en el patio de la Real Casa de Correos, sede del
gobierno regional en el marco de las celebraciones por la fiesta del 2 de
mayo que recuerda a los héroes madrileños que se levantaron contra las
tropas napoleónicas en 1808, en defensa de la libertad y la soberanía.
On the 2nd of May last at the festival of the region of Madrid, the regional president Esperanza Aguirre presented the "Medallas de la Comunidad" and
the "Gran Cruz de la Orden del 2 de mayo". On this occasion, the Gold Medal
was a posthumous tribute to the honorary president of Vocento and ABC, the
recently deceased journalist Guillermo Luca de Tena, in addition to the Order of
Saint John of God. In terms of those honoured with the "Gran Cruz de la Orden
del 2 de mayo", on this occasion it was the trade unionist and politician Nicolas
Redondo, the actress and businesswoman Lina Morgan, the cyclist Alberto
Contador, the founder of the CEIM José Antonio Segurado, and the president of
theYouth Musicians of Madrid, Isabel Falabella.
Amongst others, Botin was also recognised with a silver medal by way of its managing director, Antonio González Gómez, a tribute for which all the Botín family
are extremely honoured and grateful. The President had warm, commendatory
words for the Restaurante Botín as for the rest of the prize winners.
The event took place on the patio of the Real Casa de Correos, headquarters of
the regional government as part of the celebrations in commemoration of
Madrid's heroes who initiated an uprising against Napoleon's troops in 1808, in
defence of liberty and sovereignty.

Parecía lejano el día en que Rock In Rio volviera a celebrarse en Madrid y sin embargo en este
mes de junio ya es una realidad. El escenario, nuevamente en Arganda del Rey, en la ya bautizada como
Ciudad del Rock. Las entradas se han estado vendiendo desde el pasado mes de febrero y el éxito de
público parece estar asegurado.
La verdad es que va a haber música para todos los gustosy en eso hay que felicitar a la organización ya que
no es fácil reunir en un mismo festival a Miley Cyrus
(Hanna Montana) y a Metalica o Baron Rojo, pero es
que, evidentemente, compartirán festival pero no
escenario. La ciudad del Rock se divide en diferentes
zonas. Por un lado está el Escenario Mundo, donde actúan los grupos más importantes nacionales e internacionales. Luego está el Sunset, en donde tendrán lugar
actuaciones inesperadas y únicas, ya que es un espacio
pensado para la experimentación. Y, por último, la
Electrónica, un área pensada para los Djs nacionales
e internacionales más importantes.
Además la Ciudad del Rock completa su oferta para
Rock In Rio 2010 con Espacio Moda, Espacio Niños,
restaurantes, zonas de Shopping, parques, fuentes etc.
En cuanto al cartel de esta edición, no puede ser más
interesante y completo: Robbie Williams, George
Michael, Duffy, Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse,
Anastasia, Carlinhos Brown, Nelly Furtado, Rihanna, Shakira,Tina Turner, Kilie Minogue, Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, James Blunt, Iron maiden,
Bon Jovi, Metallica, Linkin Park, Coldplay, El Canto del loco, Julieta Benegas, Maná, Amaral, La Oreja de Van Gogh, Miguel Bosé, Estopa, Fito
y Fittipaldis y muchos otros más que ya han confirmado su presencia.
Rock in Rio's return to Madrid seemed a distant prospect but nonetheless this month of June will see it become a reality.The stage will once again be
Arganda del Rey, in what has been called the City of Rock.The tickets have been on sale since February last and its success with the public appears guaranteed.
The truth is that there will be music for all tastes and in this regard we should pay tribute to the management as it is not easy to bring together artists such as
Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) and Metallica or Baron Rojo, but obviously they will be sharing the one festival and not the one stage.The City of Rock is
divided into various different areas. On the one side is the World Stage where the most popular national and international artists will perform.Then there is the
Sunset Tent, featuring unique, original acts in an area designed for experimentation. Finally there is the Electronic Tent, an area devised for the most prominent
national and international DJs.
El 22 de junio llega a Madrid procedente de Londres y París, la exposición Turner y los Maestros que podrá ser visitada hasta el 19 de septiembre. La muestra pone de manifiesto la profunda influencia que los maestros antiguos ejercieron sobre
el pintor británico, el cual los estudió en profundidad sin desdeñar tampoco a algunos de sus contemporáneos.
El Prado expondrá 80 obras procedentes de instituciones y colecciones europeas y norteamericanas. Hay también algunas
novedades respecto a las muestras de Londres y París, como es el caso de Sombra y Oscuridad, La víspera del diluvio, Luz y color,
La mañana después del diluvio y Paz, Entierro en el mar. En los cuadros es fácil percibir la enorme influencia que artistas de la talla
de Rembrandt, Rubens o Claudio de Lorena ejercieron sobre el pintor británico.
Todos los artistas beben en la fuente de sus antecesores, pero el caso de Turner es más que llamativo, ya que a lo largo de toda
su carrera se esforzó por emular y reinterpretar cuadros pintados por otros artistas. Los críticos más benévolos ven aquí a
alguien que trata de homenajear a otros artistas, pero también hay quien ve en este afán de Turner a un artista egocéntrico, obsesionado por competir con los demás y demostrar que él es mejor, tratando de poner de manifiesto los errores de sus "rivales".
Lo mejor es que juzguen ustedes mismos.
On the 22nd of June the "Turner and the Masters" exhibition will arrive in Madrid on route from London and Paris and can be
visited here until the 19th September.The exhibition will illustrate the profound influence earlier masters had on the British painter, who
studied them in depth but without any criticism for his contemporaries.

have confirmed their attendance.
All artists take some lessons from their predecessors, but the case of Turner is more striking, given that over the course of his career he made a
conscious effort to emulate and reinterpret works painted by other artists.The more benevolent critics see somebody who is attempting to pay
tribute to other artists, but there are also those who see this characteristic of Turner's as the sign of an egocentric artist, obsessed with competing with others and showing that he is the best, attempting to illustrate the errors of his "rivals". It's up to you to judge for yourselves.
