Palladio en el Caixa Forum de Madrid
[He´s known as the architects´architect. Palladio in CaixaForum in Madrid]
Nacido en Padua en 1508. Andrea Palladio fue un reconocidísimo arquitecto, considerado padre del Manierismo y con gran
influencia en el Neoclasicismo. Su trabajo se desarrolló, sobre todo,
en el norte de Italia:Venecia y alrededores, donde dejó testimonio
de su buen hacer artístico en las lujosas residencias que construyó
para la aristocracia de la época. Murió en 1580 a la edad de 71 años.
Born in Padua in 1508, Andrea Palladio was a renowned architect, considered to be the father of Mannerism and with a huge influence
on Neoclassicism. He mainly worked in the north of Italy:Venice and the
surrounding area, where his excellent artistry can be seen in the residential
houses that he built for the aristocracy of the time. He died at the age of
71 in 1580.
Ahora, hasta el próximo 17 de enero, el museo Caixaforum de
Madrid ofrece la muestra "Palladio, el arquitecto (1508-1580)" que
repasa la trayectoria profesional y vital de este arquitecto italiano
considerado como la biblia de la nueva arquitectura. La exposición
reúne más de 190 obras, incluidas maquetas de gran formato, dibujos, libros y manuscritos, repasando la trayectoria de Palladio
desde su época adolescente de cantero en Padua hasta los tiempos
en que se convirtió en el arquitecto preferido de la adinerada aristocracia veneciana.
Form now until January 17 of next year the Caixaforum museum in Madrid
will offer the exhibition "Palladio, the architect (1508-1580)"
which offers an essential overview of the trajectory of this Italian architect, considered as "the bible of new architecture".The exhibition includes
more than 190 works, with large-scale models, drawings, books and
manuscripts. It covers the trajectory of Palladio from his adolescence as a
stonecutter in Padua to the time when he became the preferred architect of
the moneyed class of Venice.
Palladio desarrolló un nuevo lenguaje arquitectónico que seguía las
directrices de la arquitectura clásica pero con un toque de practicidad y adaptándose a las aspiraciones estéticas de su época.

Estreno mundial en España de “Luna Nueva”
[The vampires are here... World premiere on “New Moon” in Spain]
El 18 de noviembre, dos días antes de su estreno en el resto del
mundo, se estrena, en España, Luna Nueva, la segunda parte de la saga
Crepúsculo. Esta deferencia es debida al gran éxito que en nuestro país
alcanzaron tanto la primera película, como los libros del mismo nombre de la autora Stephenie Meyer.
On November 18, two days before it was premiered in the rest of
the world, Spain will see the world premiere of "New Moon", the second part
of the "Twilight" saga. This honour is due to the huge success that the first
film enjoyed in our country and the massive sales of the book of the same
name by Stephenie Meyer.
La expectación entre el público adolescente español, sobre todo femenino, es enorme, siendo uno de los estrenos más esperados de los últimos años. En Luna Nueva podemos encontrar todos los ingredientes
para un éxito asegurado, ya que continúa el amor imposible entre Bella
y Edward, una mortal y un vampiro, todo ello acompañado de acción,
misterio y un nuevo aliciente: un hombre lobo, Jakob, que quiere competir con Edward por el amor de Bella.
Expectation amongst Spanish adolescents,especially the girls,is huge.It is one
of the most awaited premieres of the last few years. "New Moon" contains all
of the ingredients for assured success: the impossible love between Bella and
Edward continues (a mortal and a vampire), all accompanied with a good
dose of action, mystery, and a new attraction: the werewolf Jacob, who wants
to compete with Edward for the love of Bella.
Luna Nueva es la primera película de la saga para su director, Chris
Weitz, director y escritor de La brújula dorada. Para promocionar la
cinta, su productora, AURUM, ha organizado un evento fan, que se
prevé multitudinario, el día 12 en el Palacio Vistalegre de Madrid…
allí estarán el atractivo vampiro, su novia mortal y el hombre lobo o lo
que es lo mismo Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart y Taylor Lautner.
Prepárense porque la fiebre de los vampiros ya está aquí… un poco de
competencia para la gripe A no viene mal en los tiempos que corren.
"New Moon" is the first film in the saga for its director Chris Weitz, director
and writer of "The golden compass".To promote the film AURUM, the film's
producers, have organised a fan event, expected to be huge, on November 12
in Madrid's Vistalegre Palace. The attractive vampire, his mortal girlfriend
and the werewolf will all attend; that is, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart
and Taylor Lautner.

Gamba blanca de Huelva, la Reina de las Gambas
[Delicious all the year round. Huelva white prawns, the “queen” of all prawns]
Se pescan en toda la zona, pero Ayamonte, Isla
Cristina y Punta Umbría son, lo que podríamos llamar,
los santuarios de la gamba blanca. Los barcos zarpan a
por ellas de madrugada y vuelven a puerto a primera
hora de la tarde para que la gamba pueda estar en los
mercados a primera hora de la mañana del día siguiente. Se pescan entre las 8 y las 24 millas de la costa y según los expertos, cuanto más lejos, mejores son.
¿Cuál es el secreto de este crustáceo? Pues es bastante
simple: por un lado la gran calidad del producto y por
otro su frescura. Es inconfundible su color, aroma y gusto, así como su exquisita textura que la diferencian del
resto de gambas que hay en el mercado.
En cuanto a la forma de cocinarlas, están deliciosas simplemente a la plancha, cocidas o al ajillo, aunque también pueden ir acompañando
otros platos. Sin duda, la gamba blanca de
Huelva es uno de los mayores tesoros de
nuestra gastronomía. No dejen de probarlas en Botín… seguro que repetirán

As for ways of cooking them: they are delicious grilled, cooked
or with a garlic accompaniment; though they can also be
accompanied with other dishes. Without doubt, the Huelva
white prawn is one of the true gems of our gastronomy.Why not

The curtain falls on the Autumn Festivals]
Esta, la XXVI, será la última edición de los llamados
"Festivales de Otoño". La Comunidad de Madrid ha cedido,
finalmente, a las presiones de los empresarios teatrales que se
quejaban de la "competencia" que suponía el Festival en plena
temporada de estrenos teatrales. A partir del 2010 este evento
cultural tendrá lugar en primavera. Curiosamente, vamos a
tener dos festivales en menos de 12 meses
Esta última edición de los festivales de otoño se presenta más
que interesante. Durante cuatro semanas, entre el 4 y el 29 de
noviembre, 32 compañías artísticas presentarán 35 espectáculos de teatro, danza, música y circo. 29 de ellos son montajes
internacionales y tan solo 6 españoles. 21 serán los espacios
escénicos que albergarán los espectáculos en 11 municipios
de la Comunidad.Y después de tanto número lo mejor para
elegir el espectáculo que más les guste es que consulten en la

Festival number 26 will be the last of the "Autumn Festivals".
The Madrid Regional government has finally bowed to the pressure
of the theatre owners, who complained that the festival was "competing" with the high season of new theatre presentations.This event
will take place in spring from 2010 on. Oddly enough, this means
that there will be two festivals in less than 12 months.
This last Autumn Festival looks as though it will be really interesting.
Over a four week period (from November 4 to 29), 32 artistic companies will present 35 theatre, dance, music and circus performances.
29 of these will be by international companies, and only 6 are
Spanish. 21 different theatres will hold the events in 11 different
towns in the region.And after all of these figures, why not choose the
