Mission
The Joliet Public Library brings
together the resources, services,
and expertise to inspire Joliet
residents of all ages to Read,
Explore, Ask, and Discover. JPL
connects you to your world, your
community, and yourself.
Get a Library Card
Any resident of the city of Joliet
may apply for a library card at the
Circulation Desk at either library.
Applicants must present one
current government issued photo
ID that verifies their name, and one
printed form of identification that
verifies their current address. (PO
boxes may not be used.) Children
3 years old and up may apply
for their own library card, with
parental consent and signature of
responsibility.

Interlibrary Loans
Did you know if you are looking for
an item not owned by the Joliet
Public Library or one of the libraries
in the Pinnacle Library Cooperative,
you can request it through a service
called interlibrary loan (ILL)?
Books, articles, DVDs, CDs,
Audiobooks and microfilms can be
requested via interlibrary
loan. Their availability depends on
the policies of the owning libraries.
New, popular and high-cost
materials are often unavailable.
Submit an ILL request through one
of the follwoing:
1.) Catalog: Place an ILL request
using the Pinnacle Catalog by
clicking the link “Click here to
search WorldCat: Libraries
Worldwide.”
2.) Database: Place an interlibrary
loan request using the library’s
database FirstSearch WorldCat.
3.) In person: Visit Adult Services at
the Main Library
4.) Phone: Call the Main Library.
at 815-740-2660 and ask for Adult
Services Department.
5.) Email: Submit an email request
to [email protected] and include
the author’s name and the title of
the item you are requesting, as well
as your library card barcode.

Zinio for Libraries, the World’s
Largest Newsstand, allows JPL
patrons unlimited multi-user access
to complete digital magazines,
easily viewed on most Internetenabled devices through the Joliet
Public Library website.
You will need your library card
number to create an account.
You will create a total of TWO (2)
accounts within Zinio. The first
account is your Library Collection
account which allows you to check
out magazines and keep them for
as long as you wish. The Zinio.
com Reader account is for reading
checked out magazines via online
streaming with computers and/
or downloaded offline via mobile
apps.
Parking
Free parking is available at the
Main Library (2 hours) in the library
lot at the corner of Clinton and
Chicago Street. There is also deck
parking at 110 N. Ottawa Street
and 11 E. Clinton St. Deck parking
is FREE on Saturdays and Sundays
and only $.50/hour Monday-Friday

for industry-standard image, video, and audio
editing. Staff is available to assist you with a
variety of multi-media projects. You can design
posters, create and record music or podcasts,
build websites, edit photos, create animations,
and much more! The Digital Media Studio is
located on the 2nd floor of the Main Library.
New! Convert your old VHS and Cassette
tapes to DVDs and CDs. We now offer analog to
digital conversion.
