My beloved Family of Santa Rita Church:
Mi muy Amada Familia de la Iglesia de Santa Rita:
In September 2007, I was asked to come St.
Rita for a few days, to support my community
sisters who re-started their mission here in Dade.
A little after when I was going to leave, Fr. Edwin
asked my superior instead of having two sisters,
please leave Sr. Martha, and will have three
sisters. So she asked me to stay to continue the
mission with them ...and the time goes so fast,
and now after 9 years, seems to me like it was
yesterday, and today it is time to continue the
ways of the Lord, announcing the Good News,
The Joy of the Gospel...!.
First I would like to thank God for the
opportunity to have worked here, it has been an
honor and a gift to share with you my faith, hope
and love to our Lord and God.
I thank Fr. Edwin Palka for his invitation to work
in this Parish. Thanks to Fathers of Holy Cross:
Rev. Dan, Fr. Bill, Fr. Pete and Fr. Jim.
Thanks to my community sisters Silvia and
Norma; with whom I have shared these years of
mission.
Thanks to each and every one of you,
children, youth and adults, catechist, the different
teams we organized with the ladies to make
possible many events; Thank you to all and each
one of you with whom we have shared every
day, and we can say even hour after hour, in so
many ways here at St. Rita ...Thank you for your
generosity, enthusiasm, support and joy. It is
because of the help of all of you that the mission
becomes possible. Thank you for your support,
kindness friendship and prayers.
I take with me so many beautiful memories
from all of you my Family from St. Rita. Thank
you all, thank you so much. I ask God so many
blessings for all of you, keep going, keep
bringing the joy of the Gospel to everyone who
visit St. Rita, and to every place you go, take
always with you the Joy of the Gospel !
God Bless each one of you!
Keep me in your prayers!
Love,
Sr. Martha Flores, MHML
Familias.
Con cariño y oraciones,
H. Martha Flores, MHML

On this first Sunday of
June we change to our
summer mass schedule
and celebrate all of our ministers and volunteers with
our annual luncheon. Like last year with Fr. Pete, we
also take this time to say thanks and farewell this
time to Sister Martha.
Sister Martha has been here since 2007 working
with both communities. She has worked tirelessly for
God and the people of God here at St. Rita. She has
helped to build up our religious education program
for both the children and the adults. Sr. Martha has
brought a missionary spirit with her that extends to
many parts of the parish and the diocese.
As a religious of “las Madres de la Luz” our
Sister Martha has brought light, life and hope to
many people. She has listened and counselled many
couples, women and teens in their search for God. In
her mission she has loved deeply and cared for the
poorest in our community.
We cannot thank her enough even though we will
try! This weekend we say our goodbyes to her with
our affection, hugs and memories. Let us assure
Sister Martha of our prayers and please Sister pray
for us your family here at St. Rita!

In the story of Cain and Abel, we see how envy led Cain
to commit the ultimate injustice against his brother,
which in turn ruptured the relationship between Cain and
God, and between Cain and the earth from which he was
banished. This is seen clearly in the dramatic exchange
between God and Cain. God asks: “Where is Abel your
brother?” Cain answers that he does not know, and God
persists: “What have you done? The voice of your
brother’s blood is crying to me from the ground. And now
you are cursed from the ground” (Gen 4:9-11). Disregard
for the duty to cultivate and maintain a proper
relationship with my neighbor, for whose care and
custody I am responsible, ruins my relationship with my
own self, with others, with God and with the earth. When
all these relationships are neglected, when justice no
longer dwells in the land, the Bible tells us that life itself
is endangered. We see this in the story of Noah, where
God threatens to do away with humanity because of its
constant failure to fulfil the requirements of justice and
peace: “I have determined to make an end of all flesh;
for the earth is filled with violence through
them” (Gen 6:13). These ancient stories, full of
symbolism, bear witness to a conviction which we today
share, that everything is interconnected, and that
genuine care for our own lives and our relationships with
nature is inseparable from fraternity, justice and
faithfulness to others.

No podemos agradecerle tanto aunque vamos a
pretender. Este fin de semana le saludamos con
nuestro afecto, abrazos y memorias.
