From the Pastor
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Today in the Novus Ordo Masses is the
glorious Feast of Christ the King. For the
Traditional Mass it is the last Sunday after Pentecost.
In either calendar today marks a transition. We are
ending one liturgical season and preparing to enter
into another. Next Sunday is the First Sunday of
Advent. It is time to begin to look forward to the
beautiful Feast of the Nativity of the Savior. I say
“look forward” to it because it should not be
anticipated and celebrated until December 24th.
This means that the next four weeks starting
November 27th are days of penance and prayer as we
await the Feast of Christmas. It is not appropriate to
spend this time as if Christmas were already here.
We await it and prepare for it through prayer and
penance. That is why the liturgical season is marked
by the wearing of purple vestments at Mass. It is to
remind us that Advent is a penitential season in the
Church.
This coming Thursday is Thanksgiving Day.
It is a day to remember with gratitude all the gifts
God has bestowed upon our great nation. It is day to
recognize the Giver of all good gifts and render Him
our “Thanksgiving”. God has not been forgotten by
many millions of Americans despite all the efforts of
atheists and agnostics. He is still honored and loved
and thanked. It is our tradition as Americans to feast
on Thanksgiving on the goods of the earth and it is
very appropriate to participate as a parish family in
the Feast of all Feasts, the Holy Sacrifice of the
Mass. There will be an 8:30 a.m. English Mass as
well as a 7:00 p.m. Spanish Mass. Let us “carve” out
some time in our schedule to assist at Holy Mass and
together offer the Lord the supreme Thanksgiving
Prayer that truly pleases Him. I hope and pray that
you will each have a very blessed and happy
Thanksgiving.
We are expecting three new priests to arrive
this week in our parish. They are due to arrive
November 23rd and will be here during this
Thanksgiving Week. These priests all belong to the
Missionary Society of Christ Crucified.
November 20, 2016
They are Religious who spend their lives for Christ
and assist those who have succumbed or are in
danger of succumbing to drugs and alcohol. As you
know addiction to drugs and alcohol is a huge
problem not just here in the U.S. but in many other
parts of the world as well. Two of the priests who
are coming here will only be staying a couple of
weeks but the other will hopefully stay for a while
and will be our Assistant Pastor. I wish I had more
details to share with you at this time (November 8th)
but I am still waiting for more information which
should arrive any day. At any rate, I will make sure
the announcements today give you more details.
I am leaving for Ohio to see my family and
will be back on Friday evening, God willing.
Hopefully everything will work out this week for
Mass to occur as planned. On Saturday of this
coming week (November 26th) a Silver Rose will
arrive here in our parish at 5:30 p.m. It is on its
way to Mexico for the Feast of Our Lady of
Guadalupe. The “running of the rose” is an annual
tradition of the Knights of Columbus and shows the
connection between the Catholics here in the U.S.
with the Catholics in Mexico and solidarity that
exists because of our love for the Mother of God.
The Silver Rose will stay here in our parish for all
the weekend Masses. You are asked just to say a
little prayer to Our Blessed Mother for our Church
and you might mention the Knights of Columbus
who do so much for the Catholic Church. We are
grateful for the two Councils of Knights that exist in
our own parish and invite any Catholic man who is a
practicing Catholic to step forward and join our
ranks.
May the Lord bless and keep you in His care
this Thanksgiving Week. There will be no
catechism classes this week. Have a good Holiday!!
Sincerely yours in Christ Jesus,
Father Timothy Davison
Stuffing for Catholic
Charities
A reminder that our parish
is assigned to donate
stuffing mix for the
Catholic Charities holiday food baskets.
Donations may e left in the wooden box in
the back of the church, near the exit door.
Loose boxes should be placed in the
designated bags.
Dollar stretcher alert: Walmart presently
has Stove Top stuffing on sale for $1.25/
box; the store brand is $1.00/box.
Holy Land Christian Organization
the Holy Land Christian Organization will
be coming to our parish on the weekend of
November 26th and 27th to sell religious
items after each Mass. The money goes to
support Christian families in the Holy
Land. They will be selling many homemade olive wood objects as well as other
religioius items. The items might make
nice Christmas gifts.

Del Párroco:
Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,
Hoy en la Misa de “ Novus Ordo” es un
Day Glorioso de Cristo Rey. Para la Misa
Tradicional es el ultimo Domingo después de
pentecostés. En ambos calendarios hoy marca un día
de transición. Estamos finalizando una estación
litúrgica y preparándonos para comenzar otra.
Próximo Domingo es el Primer Domingo de
Adviento.
Gracias. No tendremos catecismo esta semana . Que
tengan un buen Día Festivo !
Sinceramente suyo en Cristo.
