The faith community of St. Leonard Parish has stepped up to the task and has done it again! The Armed
Forces Day weekend was a total success!!! My partners Tom Ward, Bob Huber, Ken Geiger and I were
totally impressed by your comfort item donations. Your generosity shows the affection that you have for the
Service men and women of our country. Your donations will be sorted and put into bags then personally
delivered to the Veterans at Cooke’s Manor Rehab facility by our volunteers.
We would like to thank Father Roger for his assistance and help in allowing our volunteers to continue this
wonderful ministry each year. We would also like to thank the Cub Scout Master of Pack #32, Mr. John
Lucas, his staff, the Cub Scouts and their parents for assisting us at all the weekend Masses. Your help is
always appreciated.
Ever since World War II, our Service men and women have been involved in one war or another trying to
help keep this world a safe place to live. As these Service men and women come home it is sometimes
necessary to seek medical help at a place such as the Edward Hines Veterans Hospital and it’s rehab
facilities of which Cooke’s Manor is one of them.
We are proud of the Service men and women that have given their all to protect this wonderful country and
it’s people each and every day of the year. God bless them one and all.
Fred Wilcox, Tom Ward, Bob Huber and Ken Geiger
Family Faith Formation
If you are interested in joining the Family Faith Formation
Program, please fill out a registration form which can be
found at the back of church.
Registration forms are due to the rectory by Sunday, June 16th.
As a reminder: sacramental preparation for First Communion and
Confirmation is completed over two years. Therefore, we do not
accept new students into the second grade and eighth grade classes.
If you have a second grader or eighth grader who has not participated
in the program, they will be placed in first grade and seventh grade
respectively.

Book Club
Our wonderfully generous and talented Project Linus
“Blanketeers” responded with a total of 37 blankets
during our recent collection. The blankets have been
delivered to the Oak Park Women’s Exchange, where
they will be labeled and sent to the various hospitals
and shelters served in our area.
You are truly a blessing to each of the children and
teenagers who will be receiving a “warm hug” in the
form of a beautiful homemade blanket from Project
Linus.
Since 1998, Project Linus has distributed over 4 million
blankets around the country….and our St. Leonard
Blanketeers have contributed significantly to the effort
over the past several years.
May God bless you for your generosity!
Will be on May 29, at 7:00pm at Nancy
Morrissey's house. We will be reading the
book No Turning Back: Witness to Mercy
by Donald H. Calloway.
This is a
remarkable story about a young man's
journey from delinquency to an adult faith
and eventually to ordination as a Catholic
priest. It shows God's grace at work in
turning around a life headed for prison or
an early death to serve God's people as an
example of the power of merciful love.
It is available at any book seller or on-line
or from the MLS system of your local
library.
All are invited to participate.
For further questions, call Nancy at
708-749-1765
Grupo de Oración
El Grupo de Oración de San Leonardo le
invita a que participe todos los
Miércoles de 7 a 9pm.
Acompáñenos en la Iglesia para un
tiempo especial de oración, alabanza y
crecimiento spiritual. Le esperamos.

Pilgrimage & Prayer Vigil with Francis Cardinal George – This Thursday, 5/30
We have the opportunity to unite with all people of the Archdiocese of Chicago in a Pilgrimage and Prayer
Vigil for Immigration Reform with Cardinal George this Thursday, May 30th. Together we will pray for a
new immigration bill that will bring justice to those suffering under the current system. We will assemble from
all over the Archdiocese at one of three churches by 5:45 p.m. and walk approximately one mile to Holy
Family Church for the Prayer Vigil with Cardinal George by 7:00 p.m.
At the prayer vigil, representatives from our parish will present the Senator postcards that we have collected.
After the event, our network leaders will deliver your postcards to Senators Durbin and Kirk.
Anyone interested in attending should meet in the parish parking lot at 5:15 p.m.

Reforma Migratoria Integral
