the spirituality and practice of
Christian stewardship throughout the world.
Who is ICSC?
“
ICSC ensures that the promotion
of stewardship is rooted in a personal
encounter with Jesus Christ and
recognition that all we are and all we
have are gifts from God.
“
The International Catholic Stewardship Council (ICSC) is a professional organization recognized internationally as a source of education, networking and information to advance the ministry of Christian stewardship as a way of life in the
Roman Catholic Church, and to promote the cause of Catholic philanthropy in
dioceses and parishes worldwide.

Confer with professionals from dioceses, parishes, Catholic schools and associations throughout the world
International Catholic Stewardship
Council
ICSC has been offering stewardship conferences to parishes since
1965. Each year it draws hundreds of participants who gather to
exchange ideas, listen to marvelous speakers and participate in
the Eucharist together. Members of ICSC look forward to greeting new participants and making the conference a most fulfilling
time for everyone.

Conference Program

Are inspired by engaging and knowledgeable speakers
Over 70 presenters give of themselves and share their experiences of stewardship at the
annual conference. A planning committee consisting of faith-filled Catholics from
parishes and dioceses in North America and beyond work together to bring you insightful
and engaging speakers as well as interesting and timely topics.
Exchange new ideas
ICSC conferences are offered in different parts of the United States, allowing us to renew
acquaintances, cultivate friendships, network and share new ideas in parish stewardship.
Come away with a renewed sense of faith
Conference participants invariably speak of experiencing an energized zeal when they
leave ICSC conferences to go back to their parishes and share the beauty and richness of
the Gospel call to stewardship with others.

“
I am convinced that if we can make
stewardship part of our faith life we can
truly change the world. It turns us
from just loving ourselves to loving
others as Jesus loves them.
“
Come together as a Eucharistic people
The annual ICSC conference is a wonderful time of grace; a time where you not only
learn more about Christian stewardship, but are inspired and spiritually nourished by our
gathering, by sharing with one another and by celebrating the Eucharist as the summit of
each day.

A Stewardship Moment
Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion
Jesus enters Jerusalem, a city renowned since ancient times as
the holiest place on earth. The psalms consider it to be a place
of perfect peace. Today Jerusalem is at the center of tremendous hatred, violence and division. Its symbolism is far from the
biblical traditions of peace. Stewards are blessed as peacemakers; individuals who give witness to preferring reconciliation over
strife. As we reflect this week on the inhumanity done to Jesus, let
us also discern how we can give authentic witness to peace in our
daily lives and pray for the restoration of Jerusalem as a symbol of
world peace.

The resurrection of our Lord, Jesus
Christ, is the victory of life over
death, light over darkness, good
over evil. Without the resurrection,
the cross and its sufferings make
no sense. Easter reveals to us the
power of God and the source of
our faith and hope. Saying “yes”
to the Lord’s call means responding joyfully to a new life in Christ
brought on by the resurrection.

Easter Sunday
He is risen! Alleluia! Jesus has gone from death to new
life; thus, transforming our own lives and uniting us with
His Father through the power of the Holy Spirit. We are
joyful because Jesus has opened a new way for us. Death is
overcome. Our lives are now made new. Stewards know how
to celebrate, and today is a day for much joyous celebration. Jesus
Christ is risen today! Alleluia!

Drexel died in 1955 at age 97.
Her feast day is March 3.
Individual Acts of Stewardship
Bishop Morneau of Green Bay has spoken about the 12 Gardens of Stewardship.
This broad concept of stewardship shows that it extends to the soul, the arts,
the mind, history, technology, politics, emotions, the planet, decisions, money,
relationships, the body, and perhaps others. If stewardship consists of many
gardens, then obviously it is something that needs to be planted (recognizing
God as the source of all we have through prayer and thanking God for all those
gifts), tended (cultivated and nurtured), and harvested (sharing with others and
giving back to God). The following Individual Acts of Stewardship suggest many
different ways that we can be stewards.
The Garden of Relationships
Our lives are busy. But the purpose of
our lives is all about relationships – with
God, with each other. To neglect our relationships, especially with those who
are close to us, is to not exercise good
stewardship.
Our relationships can be a lot of work,
but they are crucial for our survival. We must give our relationships proper time
and attention – just like the gardener giving proper time and attention to his
garden. Some ideas for tending the garden of our relationships:
• Send a card to someone who is in need of support.
• When you hear a siren, say a prayer for those it is going to aid and a prayer of
thanksgiving for those who help them.
• Invite some friends over that you haven’t gotten together with in a while.
• Write a letter to someone you’ve not spoken to/written to in a while.
• Eat out one less time a week. Invite a friend over for dinner.
• Take a parenting class or anger management class (they are great for learning
better communication skills, even if you don’t think they’d apply to you).

Publications – Stewardship at your fingertips
The publications I receive from ICSC
are excellent resources on Christian
stewardship to have available for use in the
parish. Whether it is for homily ideas,
bulletins, parish meetings or other ways
in which I wish to communicate
stewardship, these references are well
worth the investment.
