La Dra. Kathleen Mary Hart, profesora visitante y colaboradora del Departamento de
Matemática Educativa por más de 25 años, fue una incansable y perspicaz investigadora de la
problemática de la educación matemática. Fue miembro del International Group for the
Psychology of Mathematics Education, Profesora Investigadora del Chelsea College y
Profesora Emérita de la Universidad de Nottingham, ambas instituciones del Reino Unido.
Condujo proyectos de investigación en distintos países del mundo y sus contribuciones se
desplegaron tanto en la formación de niños y jóvenes, de maestros, de investigadores, como
en desarrollo curricular, libros de texto, libros y artículos especializados. Particularmente en
México, durante sus visitas cada año, participó en los programas de posgrado del
departamento, en su programa nacional de formación y actualización de profesores de
matemáticas, en sus proyectos de investigación, como conferencista y en publicaciones.
El Departamento de Matemática Educativa participa con profundo pesar el sensible
fallecimiento de la Dra. Kathleen Hart, acaecido en la Cd. de Londres, Reino Unido, el
pasado 16 de abril de 2013, y expresa sus deseos por el pronto consuelo de sus familiares y
amigos.
---------------Dr. Kathleen Mary Hart, visiting professor and collaborator of the Department of
Mathematics Education for more than 25 years, was an insightful and indefatigable
researcher of the problems of basic mathematics education. She was, Chelsea College
Research Professor and Professor Emeritus at the University of Nottingham, both UK
institutions, and member of the International Group for the Psychology of Mathematics
Education. She conducted research projects in different countries of the world and her
contributions were deployed both in the education of children and youth, teachers,
researchers, as in curriculum, textbooks, specialized books and papers. Particularly in
Mexico, during her yearly visits, she participated in the postgraduate programs of the
department, in its national program of training and updating teachers of mathematics, in its
research projects, as a lecturer and in publications.
The Department of Mathematics Education participates with deep regret the sad demise of
Dr. Kathleen Hart, which occurred in the City of London, United Kingdom, on April 16,
2013, and expresses its wishes for the prompt relief of her family and friends.
