Did you know that your support of the Diocesan Services Fund
provides funding for many of our diocesan ministries? These
include Family Life Ministry, Aging Ministry, Respect Life Office,
Camp Kappe, St. Dominic Village, Youth Ministry, St. Dominic
Center for the Deaf, Diaconate Formation Program, Office of
Vocations and San Jose Clinic. These are just a few of the
many diocesan programs that benefit from your generous participation in the DSF. Keep up the great work as we near our
parish goal of $57,000. We are grateful for your support.
ADORATION - PRAYER BEFORE THE
BLESSED SACRAMENT
During the month of May, our parish will focus on the ministry of
Adoration - prayer before Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.
What is the importance of this Eucharistic devotion? St. Alphonsus Liguori wrote, “Of all devotions, that of adoring Jesus in the
Blessed Sacrament is the greatest after the sacraments, the
one dearest to God and the one most helpful to us.” The Eucharist is the gift of Christ’s Body and Blood. When we contemplate
Christ present in the Blessed Sacrament, we are given the opportunity to thank him for his passion, death and resurrection.
Throughout the month of May, each of us is asked to consider
offering one hour each week for prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. Currently, our parish offers this ministry on Mondays
and Wednesdays from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm, and on Fridays from
9:00 am – 3:00 pm. We would like to expand these hours and
invite you to prayerfully considering sharing in this ministry.
There are no meetings, no dues, no agendas – we ask only an
hour of your time to spend in Adoration.
Over the next couple of weeks, you will be invited to complete a
form indicating the day and time that would fit your schedule.
Your commitment will help us to expand this ministry to new
days and times. Please consider sharing one hour with our

To all who supported and participated in this year’s Spring Fling
festivities…Congratulations! Last weekend’s bazaar and raffle
were a joyful celebration of our parish as one family, one faith
community. This year’s Spring Fling was successful in so many
ways, most especially in bringing all of us together to celebrate
God’s gifts in our lives. We enjoyed delicious ethnic foods, desserts, beverages, games, plants, music and fellowship. We also
were blessed with great weather throughout the weekend.
To the many generous volunteers who planned, organized,
prepared for and worked at Spring Fling, a special note of gratitude is offered for your hard work, support, ideas and generous
gift of time. Those who assisted with set up and clean up are to
be commended, as well as those who spent hours cleaning the
kitchen, facilities and grounds. To the many who donated items,
prepared food, purchased and counted raffle tickets, sponsored
a booth or t-shirt, counted monies, offered your prayers and
more, we are very grateful. Every aspect of Spring Fling is dependent upon all of us working together. Thank you for being a
part of this parish-wide endeavor. A Spring Fling financial report
will be published in the near future.

Today is our last CCE Session At the 9:00 Mass, Grade 2
CCE students are serving in ministries. After Mass, students
meet in their rooms for a celebration of our faith with their catechists. Registration for the fall session will be in August.
First Communion was celebrated Saturday, May 2. We are
deeply grateful for all who worked so faithfully in preparing our
children for this special day in their lives and all who helped
them celebrate so beautifully! We especially appreciate the
children who show such enthusiasm for this greatest of gifts
and their parents who model daily our faith life for them!
Sunday Morning CLW and AFF - Children's Liturgy of the
Word and Adult Faith Formation will resume when CCE fall
sessions begin. If you are interested in assisting with these

Seniors Day at St. Dominic Village – Worship, learn and
enjoy! Seniors are invited to a special Mass with Bishop
Vincent Rizzotto on Wednesday, May 20, including a day of
speakers, information, lunch and tours. St. Dominic Village

University of St. Thomas to Offer Dual Credit Courses
in Summer & Fall - Students who are entering their junior
or senior year of high school in the fall of 2009 can apply for
courses which earn Dual Credit in both high school and
college. The University of St. Thomas has a list of approved
courses online at the Web site www.stthom.edu/summer.
Deadline for summer registration is May 15 and the deadline for fall is August 15. Tuition is 50% of cost per credit
hour. A GPA of 3.0 on high school coursework with official
transcript from high school is required. Contact the Office of

Catholics On Call: Direction for Your Life - What do you
really want to do with your life? How does God speak to
you about your life? Catholics On Call gives 18-30 yearolds the time and resources to reflect on God’s call in their
lives. We reach out to people like you who may be considering the possibility of a life of service in the Church as a
lay minister, religious sister or brother, or priest. Two conferences for young adults will be held in 2009 — June 47and August 9-14 in Chicago at Catholic Theological Union.
Participants will hear presenters and theologians speak on
discernment and meet others who are also considering a
life of service. Applications for the free conferences are now

InSight Program – Vocation Program for High School
Girls! The InSight Program is for those young ladies between the ages of 14-18 who would like to find out more
about the Religious Life in the Church. InSight will be held
Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the Villa de Matel, 6510 Lawndale
in Houston from 9 a.m. and ending with Mass at 4:30 p.m.

Traveling Statue of Our Lady of Fatima at the CoCathedral May 3 - The statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be
at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart on May 3. Everyone is invited to come to Mass and participate in the Marian
procession following Mass. The Cardinal is the maincelebrant of the Eucharist beginning at 1 p.m. to pray for
justice and peace as well as for vocations and respecting
life. After Mass, Bishop Rizzotto will lead the procession of
the statue of Our Lady around the Co-Cathedral.

ADORACION - ADORADORES ANTE EL SANTISIMO SACRAMENTO - Durante el mes de mayo, nuestra parroquia se
va a enfocar en el ministerio de Adoración – oración a Cristo
frente al Santisimo Sacramento. ¿En que consiste esta devoción a la Eucaristía? San Alfonso de Liguoria escribió, “De todas las devociones, la adoración a Jesús en el Santisimo Sacramento es la mas importante después de los sacramentos, la
más amada por Dios y de la que más necesitamos.” La Eucaristía es el regalo del Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo. Cuando contemplamos a Cristo presente en el Santisimo Sacramento, se
nos brinda la oportunidad de agradecerle por su pasión, muerte
y resurrección.
Durante el mes de mayo, se nos pide a cada uno de nosotros
considerar ofrecer una hora a la semana para orar frente al
Santísimo Sacramento. Actualmente, nuestra parroquia ofrece
este ministerio los lunes y miércoles de 8:30 am – 4:00 pm y
los viernes de 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Nos gustaría prolongar estas
horas e invitarles a todos ustedes a tomar una decisión en oracion para participar seriamente en este ministerio. Es un ministerio que no tiene juntas, no cuotas, ni agendas - el Señor te
pide una hora de tu tiempo para permanecer en Adoración ante
su divina presencia.
En las siguientes semanas le invitaremos a completar una forma indicando el día y hora que se acomode a su horario. Su
compromiso será valioso para extender este ministerio durante
más tiempo. Por favor, considere ofrecer una hora a Nuestro

¡FELICITACIONES Y MUCHAS GRACIAS!
A todos los que apoyaron y participaron en los
festejos del Bazar Spring Fling de este año…
Felicidades! El bazar y la rifa de la semana
pasada fue una grata celebración de nuestra
parroquia unida como una familia y una comunidad de fe. El bazar Spring Fling de este año fue un gran éxito
en muchas maneras, especialmente al unirnos todos juntos
celebrando los dones de Dios en nuestras vidas. Disfrutamos
deliciosas y variadas comidas, bebidas, juegos, música en un
ambiente fraterno. Tambien fuimos bendecidos con un clima
ideal durante el fin de semana.
A todos los generosos voluntarios quienes planearon, organizaron, prepararon y trabajaron en el Bazar Spring Fling, les ofrecemos nuestra especial gratitud por su duro trabajo, apoyo,
ideas y el generoso regalo de su tiempo. A todos aquellos que
ayudaron en la preparación y limpieza merecen reconocimiento, así como a todos los que dedicaron horas limpiando la cocina, facilidades y los predios. A todos los que donaron artículos,
prepararon comida, compraron y contaron boletos de la rifa,
patrocinaron un puesto o las camisetas, ofrecieron oraciones y
mucho más, les estamos muy agradecidos. Cada uno de los

SALVADOS POR AQUEL QUE FUE RECHAZADO
Algunos adolescentes de la ciudad suelen
menospreciar y rechazar a los chicos del campo. Sin embargo
no sería una exageración decir que la humanidad les debe la
vida a los agricultores que cuidan los cultivos y el ganado por
todo el mundo. La Sagrada Escritura para esta semana nos
recuerda que Jesús fue rechazado como pastor, como chico
del campo, sin embargo a él le debemos la vida.
En la lectura de los Hechos de los Apóstoles de este
domingo, Pedro les dice a las personas que la salvación viene
por Jesucristo, que fue rechazado y crucificado. En la carta del
apóstol san Juan escuchamos que nos hemos convertido en
los hijos amados de Dios por Jesús, a quien el mundo no
conoció. Por último, en el Evangelio Jesús se describe como el
buen Pastor: “yo doy la vida por las ovejas” (Juan 10:11). ¿Te
unirás a Jesús para dar tu vida por el rebaño amado de Dios?

BAUTISMOS- Las familias activas registradas en nuestra parroquia que deseen bautizar a sus hijos, por favor llamen a la
oficina para enterarse sobre las guías del Sacramento del Bautismo y anotarse para la próxima fecha de preparación para
bautizar el 7 de junio.
PREPARACION PARA EL MATRIMONIOS – Gracias a Dios y al esfuerzo de nuestra comunidad parroquial, 8 parejas se han preparando y ahora están listas para celebrar el Sacramento del Matrimonio el proximo sábado 9 de mayo a las 6:30 pm. Todos estamos
invitados a ser testigos y celebrar la unión de estas parejas, ante Dios, como miembros de esta vibrante comunidad de fe.
Oremos por Vocaciones – Les animamos a llevar a Nuestra Señora de Fátima a visitar su hogar por una semana, al
mismo tiempo que pedimos por vacaciones ya sea con una oración sencilla que se les provee, rezando el Rosario o un
misterio del Rosario.
Muchas gracias a la familia Olguín por sus oraciones durante esta semana que tuvieron en su hogar a la Virgen de Fátima continuando esta hermosa cadena de oraciones, rogando para que el Señor nos bendiga con vocaciones al sacerdocio, la vida religiosa y el matrimonio.
Así mismo, gracias a la familia Guzmán, que este domingo se llevan a la Virgen con ellos para seguir implorando bendiciones especiales a favor de las vocaciones.
¡Que nuestra comunidad sea favorecida con otras muchas familias dispuestas a ofrecer sus hogares para ser santuarios de fe y semillas de vocaciones, en este mes de mayo que es dedicado a la Virgen María!
Legión de María – En este mes de mayo, mes de María, nuestra Legión de María nos invita encarecidamente a unirnos en oración en el Santo Rosario para reflexionar sobre los Misterios de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
Empezando el domingo 10 de mayo, Día de las Madres, vamos a rezar el Rosario a la 1:00 pm, antes de la
Misa de 1:30 pm. El miércoles 13 de mayo, en que celebramos las apariciones de la Virgen, el Rosario se va
a celebrar a las 7:00 pm, antes de la Hora Santa. Esperamos que muchos podamos participar tanto en el Rosario como en la Hora
Santa.
Los viernes 15, 22 y 29 de mayo a las 7:00 pm continuaremos con el rezo del Santo Rosario en honor a María. Que ¡Dios les bendiga
y Nuestra Santa Madre les proteja al tomar el tiempo para venir junto con su familia a orar todos junto a Jesús por María!
Celebración del Catecismo – Hoy domingo celebramos la clausura de este año de Catecismo, dando gracias a Dios con la Misa del
Catecismo ofrecida en forma especial por todas las familias que participan en el Catecismo.
Extendemos nuestra gratitud especialmente a todas y cada una de los catequistas que de todo corazón ofrecen su tiempo para prepararse durante todo el año y comparten con entusiasmo su fe y sus dones para sembrar la Palabra de Dios en los niños y jóvenes.
Rogamos por ellos y pedimos que el Seños nos favorezca con más catequistas para seguir edificando su Reino.
Gracias a los padres de familia por su colaboración para trabajar juntos, como comunidad en la formación de la fe sus hijos, así como
a las numerosas personas que nos asisten con sus talentos a través del año.
¡Especialmente agradecemos al Padre Dana, nuestro Párroco, al Padre Bob y al Padre José, que gracias a su generosidad podemos
atender las necesidades de nuestra comunidad!
Retiro y Práctica de Primera Comunión – El próximo sábado 9 de mayo a las 8:00 am se va a tener el Retiro y la práctica para los
niños que van a celebrar su Primera Eucaristía el sábado 16 de mayo a la 1:00 pm.
Recuerden los padres de familia que el domingo 10 de mayo a las 12:15 pm, deben de presentarse ustedes, junto con sus hijos en el
