FROM THE PASTOR
I wish to offer you my prayers and blessings on this
Easter Day. Christ is Risen! Today marks the real historical
event when Jesus, who had been scourged and crucified,
dead and buried in a tomb, rose bodily from the grave. Having been glorified by his, and now our Father, Jesus rises
from the tomb. It’s important that we not liken his resurrection to mere resuscitation. Resuscitation is what happens on
those medical dramas on television when a person’s heart
stops and then re-started. Jesus’ body was glorified, transformed into a spiritual body not subject to aging, wrinkles,
acne, being too skinny or too fat and certainly not subject to
death. Rather, he is Lord over death and his risen and glorified body is not subject to space and time.
As we remember from the scriptures and our religious education, Jesus came to teach us the way to heaven
and, in fact, is the only way to heaven. He took upon himself our sins and when he died on the cross so did our sins.
He, however, is the risen one and now sits at the Father’s
right hand to intercede for us. For all who believe in him, he
has given the promise of a resurrection like his. If we seek
him, love him, worship and adore him with sincere hearts
the resurrection of the body to glory awaits us.
Archbishop Fulton Sheen once offered that the type
of resurrected body we will possess depends on the state of
the soul in death. Those who die with unrepented mortal
sins will also be raised up but not to glory. We cannot know
what will happen to those bodies exactly until the day when
we see it. The Lord himself calls it the resurrection of condemnation (John 5:29) when those who do evil take their
bodies with them to fires of hell. Needless to say, we must
do our best to avoid it so please confess any grave sins and
practice your faith with sincerity. Those who do seek the
Lord with sincere hearts will not rise to condemnation but to
glory! We have been predestined to share in the glory of
Jesus Christ, to be raised up like him on the last day. Where
he has gone we hope to follow.
Rejoice today that Jesus is risen from the dead. He
reigns in glory in the Kingdom of Heaven and will come
back again to take us with him so that we too might reign
with him with glorified bodies of our own. Give thanks to
the Lord for he is good, his love endures forever!

DEL PASTOR
Domingo de Pascua: La Resurrección del Señor
Deseo ofrecerles mis oraciones y bendiciones en
este Domingo de Cuaresma. ¡Cristo ha Resucitado! Hoy
nuestros propios cuerpos glorificados.
