Dear parishioners,
During this season of Easter, our readings focus on the time after the resurrection – the time when Jesus
appeared to the apostles and to others. The Road to Emmaus is one of the appearances of Jesus although it is not
a story that we read this year. Yet I think that it has a message for us. The story takes place shortly after the
crucifixion, and it starts with two people expressing confusion about the things that have happened , why they
happened when things seem to be going well, how could Christ have risen from the dead, and what might the
future hold. I found myself relating to this because things seemed to be going very well with the parish, but
now Fr. Robert is leaving, adjustments will have to be made, and the future seems to be less clear. In the story,
Jesus appeared and began to explain to them that the happenings were the fulfillment of the Old Testament, and
he had to undergo suffering to come into his glory. I don‟t expect Jesus to appear in my car to explain things to
me. Yet I have the sense that this change, with whatever it brings, is something that the parish has to experience
and I have great hope that the glory that will follow will be wonderful.

Durante éste tiempo de Pascua, nuestras lecturas se enfocan en el tiempo después de la resurrección - el tiempo
cuando Jesús se apareció a los apóstoles y a los demás. El camino a Emmaus es una de las apariciones de Jesús,
aunque no fue uno de los relatos que se leyeron este año. Aún así, yo creo que es un mensaje para nosotros. El relato
toma lugar un poco después de la crucifixión, y empieza con dos personas expresando confusión por los
acontecimientos ocurridos recientemente, ¿por qué suceden estas cosas cuando parece que todo va bien? ¿Cómo
pudo Cristo resucitar de entre los muertos? ¿Qué es lo que el futuro nos depara? Yo misma me siento relacionada
con este mensaje, porque las cosas parecían ir muy bien en la parroquia, pero ahora el padre Robert nos deja,

camino y les comienza a explicar que lo que está pasando es solamente el cumplimiento de lo escrito en el Antiguo
Testamento, y que El tenía que padecer tal sufrimiento para poder llegar a la gloria. Yo no espero que Jesús se
aparezca en mi carro para explicarme algunas cosas a mi. Sin embargo tengo que admitir que éste cambio, con
cualquier cosa que traiga, es algo que la parroquia tiene que experimentar y tengo una gran esperanza de que la gloria
que siga, será maravillosa..

Trong suốt mùa Phục Sinh này, các bài đọc của chúng ta chú trọng tới thời gian sau khi Chúa sống lại
- thời gian khi Chúa Giêsu xuất hiện tới các tông đồ và các người khác. Trên đường Em-mau là một
trong các cuộc hiện ra của Chúa Giêsu, mặc dù đây không phải là câu chuyện mà chúng ta đọc trong
năm nay. Dẫu sao, tôi nghĩ rằng nó có một sứ điệp cho chúng ta. Câu chuyện xảy không bao lâu sau

Stewardship Thought for the Week
“You know well that these very hands have served my needs
and my companions. In every way I have shown you that by
hard work of that sort we must help the weak, and keep in
mind the words of the Lord Jesus who himself said, „It is more
blessed to give than to receive.‟” Acts of the Apostles 20:3435.

2000 to Make our Church Truly Our Own. Those who keep their
pledge of at least $2,600 for the recent Rooted in Faith campaign will
also be recognized with a leaf.

Christ the King Listens and Responds!
After a process of several trainings on how to listen
compassionately over three months, a group of our brothers and
sisters here at Christ the King discovered that many of us share the
same concerns. Too many of us are losing our homes to
foreclosure, are fearful of being separated from our families
because of our immigration status, are worried about the
environment, or don't have adequate health care. But the biggest
concerns were for our youth. People spoke of the amount of
violence they are experiencing in the community, the lack of
adequate education and the high number of dropouts that causes,
and the need for programs for our children in THIS neighborhood.
There are too many local young people involved in gangs or
threatened by them, involved in drugs, and suffering the lack of job
opportunities, especially with this economic crisis. This list of
concerns is long and sobering, and can be overwhelming, but the
Listeners decided that they wanted to begin to do something about
all of this pain in our community. Because we can't solve all of
them all at once, the group discussed which problem to tackle first.
They chose youth issues. Specifically, they are interested in
bringing job opportunities and training to our kids, especially the
"green collar" jobs, like solar panel installation, that are being
created now. The Listeners have taken their first steps by
contacting various organizations in and around San Jose about
what opportunities already exist, meeting with our city
Councilmember Ash Kalra, and participating in an inter-faith
meeting with Mayor Chuck Reed. We have found out that it may
be possible to get more programs for our youth, but that it is going
to take time and effort by all who want something better for our
children. There are two things YOU can do to help create a safe,
healthy neighborhood for all of us: 1) Come to the Community
Action Meeting with Mayor Chuck Reed on May 21st at 6:45pm
at Most Holy Trinity 2040 Nassau, San Jose, and 2) Become a
Listener! A Listener is someone who asks another member of
Christ the King about what is heavy on their heart, and lets them
know they aren'talone.For more information on being a listener
please contact Karen Belote 408-910-7944.
Catechetical Program Registration for 2009-2010
Registration forms for the 2009-2010 school year will be distributed
June 6 and June 7 after all masses. The forms should be filled out
and returned to the catechetical office from June 21-30 between 16PM, for English and Vietnamese programs. For Spanish, please
refer to the Spanish page.
Baptism for children of school age
This year the classes for children preparing to be baptized
will be separate from the classes for first communion. The
fees will be the same, and children in the same family are
given the family discount even if the children are in
different programs. However, registration for a child in
grades 1–6 for baptism and grades 7–12 for first
communion or baptism and first communion are separate
forms and are to be turned into Carol. We hope that this
will eliminate some of the confusion that was present this
year. For more information, call Carol in the parish office
on Mondays, 10 AM-6 PM, or Tuesdays, 2-6 PM.

We want to extend a special thank you to Mr. Viet Bui for
the new parish website (ctk-sjc.org).To create and maintain
current such an attractive and extensive website requires
many hours and much love. We are all blessed by him. He
is very anxious to post whatever information,

CTK website the best in the Diocese. And again, thank you

Este fin de semana tendremos una segunda colecta para Caridades
Católicas. Caridades Católicas pone en acción el mensaje del
Evangelio de amar a Dios y a nuestros vecinos ayudando a las
personas con necesidades básicas como alimentos, vivienda y
educación.

Cristo Rey Escuchar y Responder!
Después de un proceso de tres meses de varios entrenamientos en
como escuchar compasivamente, un grupo de nuestros
hermanos y hermanas aquí en Cristo Rey descubrieron que
muchos de nosotros compartimos las mismas preocupaciones.
Muchos estamos perdiendo nuestra casa, estamos temerosos
de ser separados de nuestras familias debido a nuestra
situación legal migratoria, preocupados por la situación
ambiental, o porque no contamos con un seguro de salud
adecuado. Pero la mayor preocupación fue por nuestros
jóvenes. La gente habló de la cantidad tan grande de violencia
que se está experimentando en nuestra comunidad, la falta de
educación adecuada y el gran número de bajas escolares que
ésto causa, y la necesidad de programas para nuestros hijos en
ESTE vecindario. Hay muchos jóvenes de la localidad
envueltos en pandillas o amenazados por pandilleros, jóvenes
involucrados en drogas y sufriendo porque no hay
oportunidades de trabajo, especialmente durante ésta crisis
económica. La lista de preocupaciones es larga y muy seria y
puede ser abrumadora, pero las personas que escucharon
decidieron que ellos querían empezar a hacer algo acerca de
todo éste dolor que agobia a nuestra comunidad. Debido a que
no pueden resolver todos los problemas al mismo tiempo, se
discutió cual de ellos deberían enfrentar primero. El grupo
escogió iniciar con
el problema de la juventud.
Específicamente están interesados en traer oportunidades de
trabajo y entrenar a los muchachos, especialmente en los
trabajos "green collar" como la instalación de paneles
solares que están siendo creados en la actualidad. Los
escuchadores han tomado ya sus primeros pasos poniéndose
en contacto con varias organizaciones dentro y alrededor de
San José para informarse de las oportunidades que ya existen,
reuniéndose además con nuestro representante del concejo de
la ciudad Ash Kalra, y participando en una junta inter-fe con
el Mayor Chuck Reed. Hemos investigado que puede ser
posible obtener más programas para nuestros jóvenes, pero eso
va a tomar tiempo y esfuerzo de todos los que queremos algo
mejor para nuestros hijos. Hay dos cosas que USTED puede
hacer para ayudar a crear un vecindario seguro y sano para
todos nosotros: 1) Asistir a la Junta de Acción de la
Comunidad con el Mayor Chuck Reed el 21 de Mayo a las
6:45pm en la Santísima Trinidad 2040 Nassau, San José, y 2)
Ser un escuchador ! Un escuchador es un miembro de
Cristo Rey que le pregunta a otra que es lo que causa angustia
a su corazón, y le hace saber que no está solo. Para obtener

extensa y atractiva requiere muchas horas y mucho amor .

Bautizos para niños en edad escolar
Este año las clases de preparación para bautizos de niños de
edad escolar estarán separadas de las clases de niños en preparación
para la primera comunión. El costo será el mismo del año anterior y a
las familias con varios niños se les dará un descuento aún si los
niños están en diferentes programas. Sin embargo, las formas de
registro para niños del 1º al 6º grado para bautismo y los niños de 7 al
12º grado para primera comunión, o para bautismo y primera
comunión deberán llenarse por separado y deberán ser entregadas a
Carol. Esperamos que esto elimine la confusión que se presentó este
año. Para más información, llame a Carol a la oficina el Lunes de 10
AM-6 PM, o Martes, de 2-6 PM.

tại giáo xứ. Video/Hình ảnh ngày Hiền Mẫu và Dâng Hoa của
cộng đoàn Việt Nam hôm 10/5 vừa qua đã có trên mạng trong
phần Tiếng Việt. Xin cám ơn anh Thomas Trần đã cung cấp
Video và hình ảnh.
Có quyên tiền lần thứ hai tuần này ---để giúp các hội Bác Ái
Công Giáo. Hội này mang Tin Mừng là yêu mến Chúa và tha nhân
vào hành động bằng cách giúp người ta có những cái cần thiết căn
bản như nơi ăn chốn ở và nền giáo dục.
Những tổ chức Sắp Đến tại Giáo Xứ Kitô Vua
Cuộc Píc-Níc hằng năm: sẽ vào ngày 13/6/2009 từ 8g sáng tới 6g
chiều tại Hellyer Park
Lễ từ biệt cha Robert: sẽ có thánh lễ Đồng Tế vào ngày 20/6/2009
lúc 6g15 chiều. Có tiếp tân sau thánh lễ
Ngày hội và ca múa Kermes: sẽ vào ngày 29-30/8/2009.
Giáo Xứ Chúa Kitô Lắng Nghe và Hồi Đáp!
Sau một tiến trình của nhiều khóa huấn luyện trong việc làm thế
nào để lắng nghe một cách cảm thông trong vòng 3 tháng, một
nhóm anh chị em tại giáo xứ đã khám phá ra rằng nhiều người
trong chúng ta chia sẻ có cùng những mối lo ngại. Nhiều người bị
xiết nhà, lo sợ bị ly tán gia đình vì hoàn cảnh di trú, lo lắng về môi
trường sống, hoặc không có sự chăm sóc thích đáng về y tế. Nhưng
điều lo lắng nhất vẫn là giới trẻ. Họ nói về những bạo hành họ đã
trải qua ngay trong cộng đồng, những thiếu sót về sự giáo dục
thích ứng và một số lớn bị đuổi khỏi trường gây ra, và sự cần thiết
có những chương trình cho con em của chúng ta trong vùng này.
Có quá nhiều các thiếu niên trong vùng dính vào băng đảng hoặc
bị đe dọa bời chúng, vướng vào xì-ke, ma túy, và bị thiếu công ăn
việc làm, đặc biệt trong tình cảnh khủng hoảng kinh tế hiện nay.
Bản kê khai những mối quan tâm rất dài và chính chắn, và có thể
còn nhiều, nhưng những người Lắng Nghe quyết định họ muốn bắt
đầu làm một sự gì đó về tất cả những mối thương tâm trong cộng
đồng chúng ta. Vì chúng ta không thể giải quyết hết mọi vấn đề
cùng một lúc được, nhóm đã bàn luận vấn đề nào nên được giải
quyết trước tiên. Họ đã chọn những vấn đề giới trẻ. Một cách đặc
biệt, họ muốn chú trọng tới việc mang việc làm và huấn nghệ cho
các con em của chúng ta, một cách đặc biệt những công việc "về
môi sinh", như lắp ráp hệ thống nhiên liệu mặt trời, đang được phát
triển hiện nay. Những người Lắng Nghe đã làm những bước đầu
tiên là liên lạc với các tổ chức khác nhau trong và chung quanh
thành phố San Jose về những cái đã có sẵn, gặp gỡ với nghị viên
thành phố Ash Kalra, và tham dự trong một cuộc họp với thị
trưởng Chuck Reed. Chúng ta đã khám phá ra rằng có nhiều cơ
may để có những chương trình cho giới trẻ, nhưng điều đó cần
phải có thời gian và sự cố gắng từ các phụ huynh mong mỏi những
điều tốt hơn cho con em mình. Hai điều quý vị có thể làm để giúp
tạo nên một mối liên hệ láng giềng an toàn và lành mạnh cho mọi
người: 1) Hãy tới tham gia buổi hop "Community Action Meeting"
với thị trưởng Chuck Reed vào ngày 21/5 lúc 6g45 chiều tại nhà
thờ Chúa Ba Ngôi (2040 Nassau, San Jose), và 2)Hãy trở thành
một Người Lắng Nghe! Người Lắng Nghe là người hỏi han những
giáo dân khác trong giáo xứ về những gì đè nén trong thâm tâm họ,
và cho họ biết họ không phải là người duy nhất có vấn đề. Muốn

Chúng tôi cám ơn cách dặc biệt tới anh Viet Bui về website
anh đã thiêt lâp cho Giáo Xứ CTK (ctk-sjc.org). Anh đã
làm ra một Website thật đẹp và có nhiều công phu. Giáo xứ
được chúc phúc vì việc làm của anh. Anh cũng luôn sốt
sáng cho vào website những tin tức và hình ảnh, Video, anh
nhận được từ các nhóm. Tất cả chúng ta hãy hợp tác với anh
Việt để làm cái Website của CTK được tốt nhất trong Giáo
Phận. Một lần nữa xin đặc biệt cám ơn anh Việt Bùi!

Ghi danh chương trình Giáo lý cho niên khóa 2009-2010: tờ ghi
danh sẽ được phát ra vào ngày 6/6 và 7/6 sau các thánh lễ. Tờ ghi
danh phải được điền và nộp lại cho văn phòng Giáo lý từ ngày 21/630/6 trong khoảng 1g-6g chiều.
